Eight Ball

  • Hustler: A hustler is someone who goes into a pool bar pretending not to know how to play, finds some losers who aren’t pretending, and then tries to trick the losers into betting huge amounts of money on a pool game. A hustler will miss easy shots on purpose during a low-stakes game, and then when the losers offer to bet big money on another game, the hustler will "miraculously" pocket the ball and take the losers’ money.
  • Antique Dealers are never like this.

Buyers are never like this either.

*vintage pool balls, could they be 1950s or older? Or new? I asked the dealer. He said to me,"Do you play pool?" I answered no. I knew I had lost the game of bartering.

    1. And a hustler never answers a direct question, right?
I was thinking of you this past week Corey. I was poking around rural Lyon in Antique shops looking for stuff. No finds but it was a fun way to pass the afternoon.

Hey my dear brother Matt…cement balls, canon balls, gold balls and pool balls…what will be next in the ball realm?

    6. Funny how many can turn into magic. One pool ball – nothing, but multiply and Voila! I am off again to cruise the Caribbean on a Quilt Cruise (teaching) and look forward to catching up with you when I return!
