Antique Doll

How many hours spent playing, pretending and being happy, did this doll give?

How many times did the child’s Mother pick up the little toys and put them a way with care?

And now her life scattered all about on the table for everyone to see. Missing legs, no hair, and no two shoes alike. A collections of socks and glass eyes, an umbrella, a cash register and some empty grocery boxes is all that is left. Waiting for a new playmate who will accept her on  her terms.

  2. And who is the dolls new playmate? Probably you? 😉
Ah I love antique dolls, my mum collects them along with dolls clothes, dolls furniture, dolls dishes etc.. And who do you think will get that all to play with one – hopefully still very far away – day?

  3. That table looks like my children’s playroom right now, LOL.
I’ve often pictured people using things that go for sale at flea markets. And I’ve wondered how they got in the condition they were in.

  4. I hope you are having a wonderful Vacation! Love the letters of your name. I would gladly accept this little lady on her own terms, although she looks as if she could ride in those shoes!

  5. Ha ha that looks crazy, like Kopei lol Have fun in Rhodes and enjoy the sun! Btw. I’ve sent off your surprise today.

  6. i love the little parisol. reminds me of all the barbies that just barely survived life in a home of 3 girls.

  7. When I was a girl, I had an elderly lady friend, Faye, who was like a grandmother to me. She had two wonderful old dolls..with the hair, the pretty eyes and little tiny teeth..you know the sort.
These dolls had vast (in my childlike thinking) wardrobes of handmade clothing for each season. Faye had a special spot for the dolls and when I would go to visit her, she would let me play with them. I visited her often, sometimes taking a friend with me. She always welcomed us and served us tea in china cups with little cookies..She did needlework while we played with her lovely dolls.
Now that I read this post, I wonder whatever happened to Faye’s dolls. I hope someone is taking good care of them. Someone like you.

  8. I do not like dolls. At all. They creep me out. And that one looks like somebody’s creeped-out mama threw it out while the kiddo was absent from the house. Not that I would ever think to do such a thing…

  9. she’s lovely! you post the best photos (and stories)
