Vintage French Postage Stamps

This person, like me, must have lived far from home too ! (S)he must have gently removed the collected stamps from the many letters received, and attached them to this box. Inside, the stamped covered box, are notes neatly folded and hand written. It reminds me of someone’s heart, holding received love (letters) from another….

  1. as I gazed at this sweet little box..
and read your prose… It hit me what a lost art letter writing is… I
wrote letters as a child… but write
very few as an adult… my communication is thru email and
cell phones… I guess I could decorate a box and put my old
cell phones in there…. hah !

  2. Corey – this lovely postage box has triggered a wonderful memory. The first time I went to the Puce de Vannes I found a box of letters that I bought for an unbelievable price. I couldn’t believe my luck! Then the woman who sold them broke out into a huge smile, looked at her husband and started to dance! He put his hands on her shoulders and the danced a sweet dance together, singing and very joyful. I wished that my french was better and I could have asked them what the letters meant to them… were they from relatives? And why were they so happy to sell them? I cherish them and the wonderful memory. And thank you for bringing some of the joys of France into my home in Canada.
