The Language of Words

One word, a few words…the power of the spoken word. The feeling a word can evoke, the cherished word, the cannot be forgotten word. The singing of words, the whisper, the cry, the angry word. The word not spoken, the word denied. Sharing, and searching for, the written and the buried, the questioning words. Poetic, prayer words; Three simple words. Words from the heart, words from pain, words that won’t come out. Words that speak a different language. Words carved in your mouth like tokens, that say who you are.

As someone who has spent her life reading, asking questions and crafting words into sentences I couldn’t think of a more beautiful subject—–nor could it be more beautifully put than you’ve done here. Bravo!

  2. words… like tokens… beautiful image!

  10. Dearest Corey,
I shared your words with my family this morning and their response was:
Wow! She has a way with words!
Yes, words can heal or destroy
Words can build up or break down
Words can bring life or death
The ommission or lack of words can bring disappointment, defeat, despair…
    Three simple words:
    I Love You!
How we need to shout them from the rooftops, lest there be any doubt!
    Words…so powerful!
Thank you for wisely and carefully choosing
your words, so refreshing and comforting, so riveting and thought-provoking!
    Blessings dear one!
    Love,
    Joanne

This is such a beautiful image and your words leave me speachless.

  12. “His words were birdsong, she heard them in her heart” Oh My….how beautiful is that line? Enough said !

  13. Exquisite and profound!! Your words, the image and you in sharing them. I so often leave your site feeling enriched and touched. Thank you so much!! Today I so needed to receive this entry. I have been finishing a book I started in L.K.’s class and I have been frustrated with my ineptitude. Your entry helped me reconnect with the words:
    “On the steppingstones of words
    We travel inward
    To stand upon the heart
As a bee upon a flower,
    Milking the nectar of inspiration,
    Ensuring a future flowering.
Bee to flower; word to heart –
Co-creators in the garden of becoming.
After reading your entry, I feel I can return to my project with fresh eyes and heart. Thank you, Corey

My Mother’s last words to me, before any of us realized how very ill she was…’Remember, I will always love you..’
My baby granddaughter’s ‘Hi,Hi,Hi’… repeated three times, with a huge grin because she is so happy she can communicate with us.
My Father’s constantly repetitive words. Because of his memory loss ,the words of a moment ago no longer even a memory…
Thank you Corey for allowing us to give voice to words that might otherwise stay locked inside us..Bless you for that.

  15. How funny, I have just posted about words, too! I love words, the feelings they can evoke, the power they have, all that you describe so beautifully. Thank you.

  16. “A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”

A word describing you, Corey, grace, personified….

  20. healing words~ a powerful source…

  21. And when the words are ones like “Ferndale” or “Willows” or “Azores”…they carry such power because they’re an express train to commonality. 😉

  22. Words are powerful. Even if directed out into the blogisphere, they hold an energy. I get it. 😉
This is why your blog is such a wonderful place to come to, and you are such a wonderful person to be in touch with in this way…
    🙂

If the words we used could rise and worship at the altar of others what a simpler more loving world we would have. The word chocolate melts over me in this post, you stirred it with an intense passion and formed it into the most delicious feast. I am honored that my few words or ingredients could allow you to create such a dessert!!

in my line of work, i have come across people who have lost their words: speaking, writing; gesturing, facial expressions…
it is so heartbreaking to see these poor souls struggle, then give up and shut down.
yes, words are powerful. we must respect and appreciate them…
as always, thank you for your words!
    🙂 mary ann

Dear Corey – More beauty to contemplate…YOUR words! How can a reader NOT be touched by this post? Words are so powerful…they can give us hope or take it away! They can be cause for celebration or cause devastation. Thankfully, we know the word “love.”

What a beautiful image, wonderful handwriting-the tongue is a double-edged sword. Powerful words can pierce straight through the heart. Words used wisely can save while the opposing side causes condemnation. ‘Be swift to hear, slow to speak’.
