All we need we have Within

French Husband went to Malaysia with a friend. They went trekking in the jungle and exploring the sun on deserted islands.

When Sacha saw the back pack that Yann was taking for his two week trek, one that was smaller than his school bag, he was horrified!

"Papa, how many underwear did you pack?"

"You do not want to know."

"Papa, how many socks do you have with you?"

"The pair on my feet."

"Oh man! When you come home, I pity the person you sit next to on the plane!

I am glad I am a girlie girl! I cannot go without my daily shower . Men are very different to women. Boy am I glad that God made me a woman

  3. Travelling light… how many of us can do that? We carry around soooo much stuff (emotionally as well..)

  4. and like my french husband too and he also goes trekking with a friend but in Laos 🙂

  5. What a sweet and lovely story.
I hope your husband has a wonderful trip!
    Love and hugs

  6. I’ve read that the French are very BIG on trekking. I suppose it’s about getting outside and being at one with nature etc…Of course now a days you can take your ipod, computer, cell, a whole mess of urban stuff with you. Didn’t a couple get lost in the Himalayan mountains and they text-messaged friends in London and were rescued! Extra underpants are the least of it 🙂

  7. You son is too cute! That island looks like a wonderful place to holiday.

  8. Do you think French Husband would talk to Scottish Wife? Her idea of travelling light is to only need a trailer.

  9. This had me laughing out loud! Your son is something else.
That trek definitely sounds like a guy thing for sure.

  10. ah to travel is to travel light. there is always a way to get by! hooray for the french husband!

what an adventurer! i wish i could figure out how to travel light. just going to work i have a rolling backpack with books, water, lunch, purse, notebooks… what a ridiculous image i make running for the train!

  12. they call that going commando,no?!sounds good to me!
    p.s.feeling better i hope!

  13. Oh wow 2 weeks! That’s such a loooong time to be apart. I hope he has a wonderful time.

  14. Such an example that French Husband sets – Live life the fullest, and don’t worry about extraneous bits and pieces… Love it!

  15. Beautiful post…it’s a wonderful thought and will carry me through the rest of the day….xxooxx

  16. Ha ha your son is so right! The poor person sitting next to him in the plane back! Have a safe and fun trip Yann!

  17. Haha – now that is pretty funny! I guess you guys were all glad you weren’t with him..

  18. P.S. I hope your not feeling poorly anymore Corey! Can you cope with Yann going away for two weeks btw?

  19. Heehee, I pity the person who has to wash his laundry when he gets home.
Great exchange between father and son.

  20. french husband is a manly man !

  21. This is so marvelous Corey. And your son is so funny. How on the mark he is. Of course, French Hubby will likely find a shower before getting on a plane to fly home.
My dear friend Francine travels all over the world, the more remote the better. Generally she has little more with her than a small frameless backpack. And mind you, Phaa is in her mid-60s! What adventurers they are.

  22. This story made me laugh, I love your stories Corey! 🙂

  23. That was just too funny! I could hear Sacha saying that and it sounded much like something one of my own children would say!
In this world, we all tend to pack too much and it is the ‘stuff’ we accumulate that can weigh heavy, and keep us tied down, can’t it?
    Good reminder!

  24. Such a young gentleman already, that Sacha!
I hope your husband has a safe and wonderful trip. And I am wishing you brightness and beauty!!
    With Love ~ Josephine

  31. I couldn’t travel lightly even if I tried,lol.

  32. Oh , this is so timely! We fly to Europe in a couple of days for a month………my husband’s case is half the size of mine and I have halfed my clothes pile twice! This from a woman who used to live out of a rucsack!
