The Diamond Mine

In our French village, next to the church, there is a door to the ancient sinner’s chapel. It is locked and abandon.

Hundred’s of years ago, it was a place to pray for forgiveness, to seek freedom from darkness and ask for healing light.

The door remains locked…entering is impossible, nevertheless the healing light of forgiveness finds it way and pours through the keyhole, can you see the light?

Nothing can stop the power of love.

  1. I found that door, it wasn’t on a church or next to one, it was on my heart. My heart was oh so dark at the time…painfully dark. Then I found that door and opened it and yes, the healing light came pouring in and love abounded. Biggest turning point of my life.
Thank you for your insightful post.

  2. That’s a bit tough on the poor sinners, don’t you think? But on the plaus side, it probably gives a dry and safe home to a key-hole loving spider or two.

  3. Wow, the words “sinners chapel” together are a kind of two-word poem, aren’t they? What an idea. And this is a gorgeous photo.

  4. Anything secret and forbidden seems to beckon some………..
As a person with lots of faults I pray for God to be patient with me each day.
Many blunders occurr but I try and live the best I can.

  6. Corey, the wood and hardware is so alive. If I could touch it, I know it would move beneath my fingers.

It should never have been locked up and abandoned. The world still needs places like that, a sanctuary, a place to ask for healing light…

  8. They should open the doors and use the space for prayer as intended. Sadly, too many French villages and towns lack funds to care for and maintain some of these amazing structures and important links to history – and faith.

  9. A lovely image – I somehow think I’d feel at home in a sinners chapel – thank heavens for healing light and keyholes

  16. Love your post! Isn’t it funny in this day and age that a place to pray for forgiveness would have a locked door? Sad.

  17. Very thought provoking.

  18. If only our hearts weren’t sometimes locked like that sinner’s chapel… Ah, but once we’ve found the key, and the light of forgiveness (most of all of ourselves) floods in…a state of grace is often the result… Beautiful photo…lovely words.

  19. I wonder if I am the only one who reads each post over and over and over..wanting to eat the words with a spoon?
    No, I didn’t think so….

  20. Love always peeks through no matter how tightly we close the doors. I’m thankful for that.

  21. simply incredible

  22. I once heard it said that in god’s eyes any sin or request for forgiveness is like one tear dropping into the great ocean of his incomprehensible infinate Love. God forgives all things, it is our human minds that will not allow us at times to forgive others or more importantly ourselves.

You ever so beautifully bring France to those of us who otherwise would have passed it by. Your blog is breathtaking. Thank you for creating it.
