Sadness in Summer

Family.

I have waited to share this news, not because I didn’t want to, but because I didn’t know how…sharing makes the reality concrete, like putting one’s hand on wet cement, the print remains. I can no longer write this blog and not share what I am feeling.

My Father and Sister in law, are both in ill health.

The power of love, pray, good thoughts, helps, heals and gives courage. I ask you to please send yours to them.

Everyday I have added something to my blog, it has been a source of strength for me, to use this blog as a prayer, to look around me and find the miracle in whatever comes my way, to have faith in love, to believe that everything is for a reason and those reasons are good.

Even this.

Life is beautiful even when there is suffering…. suffering is made bearable by feeling the blood run through my veins whispering its song of hope.

photo: things complied and shared, bits of collected what nots that tell a story.

  1. Dear Corey I will definitely be praying for you. I happened to come over to check in tonight right as this was posting I think.
The very reason I am drawn to your blog so much is what you mention here. How you treat it as a “healer’s journal”, which is something I had dreamed about before and it really stuck. That’s just a name though, what it means is just a mundane little journal, and through its very mundaneness it is about finding the sacred and beautiful in the mundane, in little day to day life with its joys and pains, and witnessing the little miracles and “coincidences” so you can know more and more that God truly IS here with us, and share that. For that is the heart of healing.
Or as you put it so beautifully…”to use this blog as a prayer, to look around me and find the miracle in whatever comes my way, to have faith in love, to believe that everything is for a reason and those reasons are good.” Its all part of our “stories”, our healing fairy tales, which shines through in your picture here.
I believe in miracles. And I pray miracles will unfold for your family Corey.
    Warmly, Wendy

  2. Corey, I know that you will feel the arms of all of us around you and your entire family.
Yes, I am just a name that floats to you via the internet – but it does not make me care less about you and yours — you have made a difference in my life – simply by the act of sharing your words that ebb and flow from your heart – and I visit you daily without fail- because you remind me to slow down and rethink my priorities, you remind me whats real…

  3. It seemed to me that you have been so very reluctant to leave your family and go back to France. Perhaps it’s always that way when you visit your childhood home, but I know how hard it is to be far away when loved ones are unwell. My prayers are with you, your father, and your sister-in-law, be assured.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear this about your dad and sister-in-law. I think of the photo of your mom’s and dad’s hands that you posted a while back near the date of their 50th anniversary. …My own dad was failing when we were back east and my sky darkened when they said he probably only had days or weeks but then somehow he stabilized and so we left and came back home. But I had some good visits with him during those weeks and I’m glad for you that you’ve had this time with your dad and also with your sister-in-law.

  5. Dearest Corey,
I am so very sorry about your father and sister-in-law’s health. It is always very hard for me to share personal things on my blog regarding health issues too. The support that is out there for you is unbelievable.
Prayer is so strong and this group of people will really be there for you. We all care very much for you and your family. Think positive and never give up because miracles are happening every day.
    Sending you big hugs,
    Connie

  51. Corey I’m so sorry for this news. I’ve read your blog for months and have really enjoyed it but don’t believe I’ve commented before. My dad became suddenly ill just 3 weeks ago and also lives in another country than I do. After a trip home to see him and my mom I had to leave again and I don’t think there is anything more difficult then that.
    My thoughts are with you.

  61. Adding my love. I believe that there is nothing outside of God, even the darkness. Your poet’s heart lives in the beauty of Life Itself. Your inner knowing.
Someone wise told me that we are never given anything that we cannot handle. That it’s a spiritual law.
May you continue to know the blessing of Life most fully, love, Shelley

  70. It seems that our lives are filled with good-byes and hellos. The good-byes are always so painful and the hellos often seem too brief but in the infinite wisdom of our Creator, somehow, some way, there is a balance. I pray that your loved ones will have many more hellos in their lives before the good-byes.

  71. Oh Corey, I am saying a little prayer now to be carried on the winds to heaven for your loved ones. Blessings to you for your courage and heart to share this news with the community. A candle will be lit at mass for them.

  72. Such incredible outpouring of prayer and affection(!,) I am overwhelmed(!,) and very blessed! My Father and sister in law thank you for your extending healing thoughts their way. I thank you too!!
My sister in law has again entered the hospital for the third time in less than a month. When I left California she was in the hospital. She will be okay, but the journey there will be long.
My Father has a rare form of bone marrow cancer. He is a positive, happy, sometimes tired and trusting life at 79 going on 65…a few days after I posted this, he rode his Harley just to prove he was the man of the hour. He is my hero by showing me how to live in the face of his greatest battle.

  73. Extending my blessings, though late, still very heartfelt.

  74. my thoughts are with you, your father and sister in law. love the way you’ve written your post.
