Returning to France

Our bags are stuffed.

Today we leave California for France.

Home to home.

Tears in our eyes.

Hearts carrying more than our 50 pound limit.

Bittersweet goodbyes, cracking the surfaces and flooding the damns.

Baseball, and baguettes we hold smiling, aren’t we lucky?

Looking back, going forward…knowing we are loved.

Photo: Vintage suitcases that my cousin Judy has stacked in her studio, she uses them to keep her holiday supplies!

  2. corey, wishing you a sweet journey and an angel forever and always at your side…
the farewells are never easy, that i know too. but it’s not only a suitcase of souveniers and clothes and favourite missed things that accompanies you back on this journey, rather a suitcase we call our heart. and that filled with memories and smiles and maybe even the tears. and of endless conversations.
and as we always talk about life being a journey… that’s exactly what this was. a journey from home to home and back home again.
    thinking of you.

  22. i SO know your feelings. i lived in France for only two years and the entire plane ride back to Pennsylvania, i cried. It was time for me to come ‘home’ but i felt as if my heart was being left in France.
i hope your re-adjustment back to the States is smooth and that you build just as happy memories here.
