Cinderella’s Pumpkin Sundae

My Mother called me Cinderella, not because I wore glass slippers, nor for my flare for transforming mice into men, but because I was the oldest child followed by four brothers. Needless to say whenever a house-chore had to be done my Mother would holler, "Cinderella!"

Find a small pumpkin

Cut the top off, keep it as a hat.

Scoop out the seeds, every single one.

Layer the pumpkin cone with the assorted toppings:

Gobs of shredded parmesan

Chunks of crusty bread smothered with glazed golden onions,

Salt, nutmeg and pepper sprinkles

Laced between each layer swirls of white wine and fresh cream (don't be stingy!)

Put in the oven, until it is ready to melt.

Add the top hat and serve with a cane…I mean a spoon.

  5. I’m the oldest too. I just love here how you have turned the “druge-ical” into the “magical”/healing–the way it was meant to be : )

  6. Hmmm, “a flare for transforming men into mice.” That’s sounds intriguing. Any tips???
PS In my 3rd grade class we do a class play where Cinderella doesn’t have tiny feet that can easily fit into the class slipper. The Prince finds out she has H-U-G-E feet. It’s a hilarious play and the children love it. The question is though, how do you think she solves her dilemma???? Hint: She too has a flare for turning mice into men!

  28. Mmmm – yum!!! Will *have* to try this! My other favorite version of Cinderella pumpkins is to use an actual “Cinderella” type of pumpkin (are you familiar with those? They are squatly rounded [coach shaped?] and very orange) which you adorn with sparkly brooches, gilt the stem and tie with filmy, metallic organza ribbons – it then does resemble Cinderella’s very fancy coach. A fun alternative to the more typical autumn squash decor. 🙂

  29. I’ve always loved pumpkin pie, in fact I think I will try to make it from scratch this year. I came to try pumpkin soup late in my life, but I sure do love it.
