#3 Guessing Game

You might say this is a paper doll who has been dressed up to look like a bee.

You might think she is shy since her back is facing us. (I think she is showing us her wings.)

You might find it odd that she is wearing white knee socks and black patent shoes, with bows, (don’t forget the bows.)

They say you can tell where a person is from by their shoes.

What is her name?

(The winner will be announced Friday.)

photo: French vintage paper doll smelling the gigantic flower that is in front of her.

P.s. First challenge: Name the person in the portrait. Very good leads, but unfortunately she is yet to be identified. Second challenge: The Ring, winners were Cruststation , Andrea and Lisa!

  1. I will name her Miss Bliss
Embrace your bliss it is the key to happiness
and I will tell her spread her wings and fly!
    Love you
    Jeanne

  2. she is a little tap dancer waiting in the “wings” to go out an perform, flight of the bumblebee!

  3. Sweet Ruth is in trouble because she cut off her beautiful red/gold locks.
She used them to make a glistening bee’s bustle, and her petticoat became the gossamer wings.
But her outfit wasn’t complete without her favourite black patent shoes and white knee high socks.
Now she is lying on her bed, singing about buzzy bees flying through fields of lavender.
    She thinks she looks beautiful.
    Quite.

  4. She’s certainly the bees knees.
I name her “Little Miss Wanderlust”.
Her shoes are shiny with the bows tied tight because she flies from flower to flower only stopping briefly to breath in the fragrance…then she’s off in flight to experience the next flower.

  5. I think she has her back turned because she accidentally flew into a bowl of honey and it took hours for her mama to clean her up, so embarrassing! Her name: Beatrice (or Bea for short).

  6. Her name is ‘Honey?’

  7. This is a sweet little girl, nervously waiting for the dance recital to begin. Black patent leather shoes with ribbon ties means tap shoes. Her mother made her costume and is sitting in the second row with her fingers crossed. She is one of sixteen little honeybees who will show how well they’ve learned their steps today.

  8. She has got to be a Josie!Just like my little one who turns her back when she has some ‘delight’ in her hands that she doesn’t want us to see!

  9. Because she is a petite abeille, her name must be(!) Mélisse, or Melissa!

  10. Jane from the 1950’s Dick and Jane school books.
    🙂
    I love your guessing games!
    a.

  11. This petite fille d’abeille is certainly Eleanor. I heard that she was in a play, I thought she would be a flower but now I see that she is the Queen Bee.

  12. Vacation Bible School has come to an end and the children are excited to perform the play they’ve been working on for their parents. Polly is momentarily distracted by a flower in the scenery as she waits to board Noah’s ark.

  13. Are her shoes Mary Janes? Is she Mary Jane?

  14. For me she is simply.. Bee 🙂

  15. I love your guessing games Corey.
This cute little girl is of course Beetricks Bowey. And though she is showing her wings just as you wrote in the blog she is also very shy. She is in love for her first time, with a cute little nursery, honey loving bear and has dressed as a bee trying to get his attention. Unfortunately he is more interested in honey than in bees, but as the evening goes on, she get the courage to turn around. And what does she hide in her arms? Yes, a small jar of shoe polish with the most adorable smell of honey. The bear is trapped.

  16. Yay my favourite paperdoll -let me see, with a wardrobe like that and an adorable baby-face? I think she should definitely be a super-model (I say Lily Cole or Sophie Dahl);)

  17. (She looks like one of the Campbell Soup kids) She is calls herself Holly(though that is not her given name). She loves to dress up like a bee and buzz around the garden. She is wearing tap shoes and adores the sound they make as she goes from stepping stone to stepping stone. Nothing brings her more joy than waving her arms and making the wings lift in the breeze then stopping for a snack of bread and honey when she’s tired. She appears shy because her back is turned when in fact she is not, she is watching a bee glide down the wall and learning its choreography.
    XOXO

  18. Oh Corey – WON’T YOU PLEASE SELL COPIES OF THESE SWEET LITTLE CREATURES??? hint hint hint… If she were mine I’d name her Penelope or Petunia, or??? but since she lives in France, perhaps her name is “bouton de bourdon” or something just as whimsical…

  19. Ah, BellaBee!

  20. I think her name is Clara Deborah Darling – Clara after Clara Bow(s on her shoes), and Deborah because Deborah means “bee” in Hebrew, and Darling because she just is. 🙂

  21. Abby…for a bee and l’abeille!

  22. I don’t think she’s shy at all. I think she is a precious little girl so caught up in the moment of enjoying the fragrance of the flower that she is blissfully unaware of us all trying to guess her name:) I love it…Nel

  23. I think it is Buzay Ze Bee dressed up as a little girl, trying to scare away all the other bees and keep all the lovely nectar for herself.

  24. Well Phooey, I thought I was a ring winner..a ringer. hardee har. That’s ok..sniff…it is enough for me that the children liked my answer.
(all said with a big smile) 🙂

  25. Could her name be Fanny as in Little Fanny or Fanny Gray?

  26. How about Bee Wing Betty.

  27. hahahaha you sweetie. You didn’t have to do that. 🙂 Thanks. ::blushing::

  28. little sweet cheeks mchoney.
sometimes mistaken for a boy, little s.c.m. has turned that confusion into a game – facing away until the moment before someone asks her name…. the wings? a little something she found wandering the stalls at her local brocante market.

  29. corey,
I think she loved her halloween costume so much she wears it daily…She can’t wait to turn around and show us how pretty she is in the front! She says happy halloween again, again, and again………
    her name is Betty BumbleBee

  30. I think she is adorable, and looks like a bumble bee betsy to me. 🙂 Cute!

  31. Be atrice of course!
    A bea utiful,
    be guiling and
    be dazzled little girl.
    She want to…..
‘be’ left alone as she is a little
    ‘be’wildered by all this attention!

  32. AnnaBelle Lee’ has a ‘bee in her bonnet’ & wants to go home! The party is no longer fun and the girls are being mean! 🙂 mornin C

  33. Someone said my answer…Abby because of l’abeille…so now I’m coming up with Genevieve just because it is pretty.

  34. There is no doubt that when she grows up, she’ll be crowned The Bee-autiful Queen Bea. As for why she has her back turned away from us… Well, she had bee-n misbee-having and has bee-n sent to stand in a corner (or most corner-like area) of the beehive for bad bee-havior. Don’t worry, bee-fore long, she’ll so bee back dancing the bee-bop.

  35. With a bootie comme ça I’d say it’s Bee-yoncé. Bien sur!

  36. I would have guessed Betsy McCall because she looks like those old paper dolls…but Betsy would not be French!

  37. I’m going with Mary Jane in honor of her shoes.

  38. what a fun game… has she been identified? My guess is Ramona?

  39. Mmmm … can I change my mind? I’m thinking it is a boy given the short hair and the oh-so-classic male pose: back to the audience, head down. And the color of the ground is a dead giveaway. I vote Peter!
And now Corey will ban me from her blog.

  40. too sweet, definately mary jane, but i still want to call her maya – maya the bee.

  41. That was too obvious.
    Clara Bow?
    Leslie Bee?

  42. little bow peep has lost her sheep and then began to cry:( did I win????

  43. “Angel Bee”

  44. She’s got to bee either Beeatrix or BeBe Bee…

  45. how cute is this?

  46. I will say…
    Aimée (Abeille)
