Christmas Coupon

"What I would like for Christmas," Sacha said, "Are bike gloves, the kind that do not have a Velcro strap and have leather around the fingers…you know Mom it would be easier if you just gave me a coupon (Sacha’s word for gift certificate.) that way I could go to the store and pick exactly what I like. In fact I would like a coupon for BMX pants and for bike stickers at the bike shop. Also a coupon for a sweatshirt with a hood and a pocket in front, and I would like to furnish, uh supply, uh what is the word? Anyway, also a coupon for bike tools for my toolbox. I guess my Christmas list should be called Christmas coupons!

"Sacha, don’t you want to have something under the tree other than coupons?" I asked him.

"Yes…all your kisses!"

This boy is going to make the women swoon I tell you!!

Photo: 1786 French manuscript, let’s just say it is a Christmas coupon! The second photo is Sacha riding into my heart again and again.

Such delightful little glimpses into your family life. I have often looked at photographs as captured moments that repeat forever. And the French have such a way with romance, oui?

  4. Your son’s heart is very similar to my son’s Full of love and joy and adoration for his Mother.

Love the glimpses into your family life. Your children are so adorable and smart and Sacha is such a charmer with the adventurous streak of his father.

  9. Kids, don’t you love them? My 9 yo grandaughter told me “Well, I want a tool belt and a gym bag – um, those wrapped and under the tree you know. And then I want a Shopping Spree with you Nana.” Yep, she’ll get it. Our holiday lunch and shopping spree. Who could resist?

My son always gave me a hug and a kiss at that age, even when his buddies were around. It never embarrassed him. I hope Santa heard Sasha’s request…

That boy is a chip off of your family’s block!
    All those biker brothers.
Or does Yann lean that direction too?
    Flying and trekking.
    No doubt about it.
    All so outdoorsey!
And a mum/wife/sister who gazes at old scrapbooks and scraps of old love letters ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. quel amour cet enfant !! You’re a very lucky mom , probably just because you deserve these “promised” kisses !

  23. Sacha sounds like my brother!! He used to race in BMX competitions back in the 80’s.
I once was without my 10-speed because he needed parts and stole what he could from it.
I should see what he has left from his “glory” days and send them to Sacha. It would be 80’s retro…..

  24. Your son is very persuasive. I’m guessing that coupons will, indeed, be the order of the day when Christmas arrives.

  25. Yeah, I basically asked my parents for coupons this year as well! I don’t need them picking out new running shoes or new glasses for me!!!

  26. Oh, yes he is! Lol.
But he sure makes your shopping easy-pleasy!

How could he not be charming? Just look at who his parents and grandparents and funny uncles are!

  29. leanneshouse

Christmas is so much about our Children. Have purchased that shabby little tree in a pot (all that’s left 6 days before Christmas) but still haven’t got the decorations out yet. My wonderful 5 year old daughter tells me “I’m going to Nana’s house. Her tree’s up and it’s decorated!” LOL

  30. He absolutly has the Amaro bike blood in him! And the frenchusband daredevil just adds to it. What fun you must be having with the jumps and climbs. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

  31. herhimnbryn

Hmmmmmmmmm, I wonder where he gets it from?

  32. Oh dear…look out ladies. I got goosebumps and tears in my eyes!

  33. snowsparkle

Again, wonderful photos and delicious prose!

  35. Sooooo sweet to hear about the gifts your son wishes to receive for Christmas…I just love to hear stories such as these….my son wishes to build a computer…I told him to save his Christmas money. What do you wish for Christmas?

  36. It’s hard to believe how fast they grow up. My niece Chelcee (who is more like my daughter than a niece)will be 13 this spring. Gone is the baby, and now I see a young woman. Beautiful to witness, but still a little sad.

  37. How old is Sacha?
    He would love Noah.
    Noah is kissy too:)
