Oh my Darling Clémentine

The winter fruit clémentine, with its bright colored skin that slips off like a glove, is a pure taste of sunshine and goodness! On my list of favorites they rival with chocolates….wait what am I saying!!! (French Husband, do not, I repeat do not buy me clémentines for Valentines!!)

Photo: At the French village market.

ps: Considering how my home state California, has suffered a brutal winter. That has cost many orange groves to suffer terrific losses, orange would be a sweet Valentine!

  7. Here in the state we have a chocolate thing shaped like an orange and it has orange flavor. You break off the pieces in section, just like an orange — YUM!!!

  8. LOL. What if he bought you Clementines AND chocolates? That would be good, right?
We have tons of Clementines in the house. The kids and I can’t get enough of them.

  9. They look like the mandarins that we get here in Aust. in winter. Are they citrus too?

  10. Gardengirl

Have you ever tried clementines and chocolate? If not you MUST. Of coarse only the best chocolate will compliment the lovely clementine….or is it the other way around? I must go ponder this one.
    Corey Responds:
Yes, I agree the two flavors marry well together. That is why they are on top of my list…BUT I repeat …Roses and Chocolates, or Champagne and Chocolates, or diamonds and Chocolates, or Kisses and Chocolates, or Chocolates and Chocolates, or Paris and Chocolates…but not clementines and chocolates for Valentines!

  11. Definitely not a good trade!!

  12. no definitely not for Valentines !

  13. Paris Parfait

Have you ever tried the combination of clementines and dark chocolate? A local wine shop proprietor swears by this combination with certain red wines!

  15. Mmmm…..fragrant, sweet and juicy clementines…I’m going to have one with chocolate shortly. I love your description of peeling them….perfect!

  16. Delightful, Corey. Hummmm, how about clementines sliced and dipped in CHOCOLATE!!!

  17. They rival chocolate?! Do you have a fever, Corey?

  18. JanePoe (aka Deborah)

Although the weather had been brutal to the clementines, don’t they look beautiful covered in ice? There’s only one solution to the Valentines dilemma, a chocolate orange!

    Coucou Corey!
J’espère que toi et ta famille ne souffrez pas trop de cet hiver rigoureux qui sévit chez vous!
Promis : la prochaine clémentine, je la mangerai religieusement en pensant très fort à toi!

  37. I’m sure you’ve heard that the citrus crops in your home state have been devastated by the freezing temps…can’t imagine the prices we’ll be paying down the road…
Corey Responds: An orange from California, would be a sweet Valentine this year consider how they have suffered such a terrible lost!
