So good to read that you arrived safely! I love the picture, the colors, and your words along with it.
I have three tiny hen and chicken plants growing in a nutshell, the plants were mailed to me from a dear friend in France.
Enjoy the comforts of being back home,
M.
So lovely to hear you have arrived home…have the most wonderful time Corey with family and friends. Your mum sounds like a special lady…like mother, like daughter I would say!
Hen and Chicken reminds me of my mom too! The first time I saw them, I asked what they were and she told me, of course, “Hen and Chicken,” but I didn’t believe her–she had a habit of sometimes making things up on the spot to answer my million kid questions, so I thought she was kidding…it was only years later that I realized she was actually telling the truth that time ๐ Thanks for reminding me, and enjoy your time at home!
Glad you arrived safely Corey, have a wonderful time with your family ๐ I can hear the laughter, smell the cookies already!
Good to see you arrived safely.
Enjoy precious moments back home with your family…the laughter, the sharing of the words, the embracing of every minute together.
Enjoy your time with your family darling one.
I love you
A multitude of things remind me of my Mom and my loved ones.

Good Morning Corey and welcome back to the neighborhood (so to speak).
In honor of your visit I think we should rename this plant Mother & Daugher, LOL! We have some planted in an old yellow enamel bowl.

Welcome home. I can smell the cookies baking from here.
Hens and chicks grew in my Grandmothers garden and now they grow in mine. Corey, you don’t skip a beat….even with the long trip yesterday you still found a way to post again today. It’s good to know you landed safe and sound.
I just love this kwirky little plant. Mine can’t even compare to your mother’s. Those are beautiful.
The Gardenia was my mother’s favorite flower. It always makes me feel warm when the scent finds me.
Hugs,
Connie

Glad you made it home! Hello to your family! xo
Thank you for posting, and after a long trip!! I am so excited for your visit for you! Families are wonderful fun! This lovely hen and chicken holds memories from very young to now…It grew everywhere at my parents. My mom planted one little sprig and it flourished, it busted 4 ft circular pots..And it is lovely.. yes the memories at the littlehouse on the hill, we left there when I was 8. At the new house, the growth continued. Thank you.
Welcome home!
Glad to see you posting….I love checking in while I sip my morning coffee before all the chaos of my day begins! Enjoy your time with your family. by the way, did you find the special presents??
Welcome home Corey. I’ll call you later today.
So pleased to hear you had a safe journey. Lovely photo! Enjoy your holiday.
Hen and chickens remind me of living with one of my best friends. They were the only thing that survived on her patio garden!
Glad you had a safe arrival Corey! Iris remind me of my Grandma, who worked in the Skagit Valley in the 1940s for the iris growers.
MY Grandmother!!! She had these growing in every kind of container you can think of! Old Boot….coffee tins…tobacco tins! (I grew up in West Virginia in the 60’s when people rolled their own cigs)Gee, you brought back vivid memories! Thanks!
Love the picture. These also remind me of my mother-she always had hens and chickens somewhere in her garden-when she moved she took them with her-dug them up and took them. They multiplied like crazy. She had them in a beautiful rock garden once-so lovely. Beautiful memories.
Are those artichokes in your mom’s jardin?
What a beautiful picture..
Any pomegranetes?
Welcome home Corey !
Glad the three of you have arrived safely. I think of my mother when I see coral bells and moonbeam coreopsis.
Corey,
Ah, California dreamin’.
Explosively decorated wedding cakes done free hand remind me of my mom.

My first chance at the computer today – and, as always – my first stop is CoreyLand…and the photo I see brings tears of joy to my eyes…yes Corey …memories of Mom.
With love from your So. Cal connection…
My mother always had a pot of hen and chickens sitting on the porch…thanks for bringing back such a sweet memory. Now you’ve made me want to plant some! ๐
Where’s the hen and where’s the chicken?
I see artichokes.
I don’t get it? ? ?
I guess you can make us see whatever you want Corey ๐
How well suited…..
Glad you are save….enjoy your time
Welcome home, Corey……enjoy!
AMAZING photo. This just popped. Glad you are “home” safe and sound.
Hugs,
a.
So happy to know you arrived safe and sound! I’ve seen those plants but never had any idea that’s what they were called. They sure make a lovely photo. I am sure you were lovingly embraced upon your arrival.
Still seems odd you are now here in the same state, not that far away.
XOXO
i love hen and chicks…these are gorgeous…there’s no place like home…isn’t it fun to buy for little ones?…i adore the requests! xo…annie
I can’t think what is more beautiful; the flower or the comment that you made about your mother.
I plant them wherever I go. With very little nuturing, but lovingly planted, they all become moms! Love the photo.
All colours represented here!
My mother adores these and has many in her garden but I have always thought them to be ugly. You post has made me change my mind about them! Thank you for that.
After I posted I had another thought. I’ve always heard them called “Hens and Chicks” because the mother (established plant) sends out the babies.
Hen and chicks always immediately bring my Grandfather to mind – he was the gardener and planted scores of hens along with bearded iris and nutmeg-scented pinks…. I have some of all three in my own yard – the pinks and hens-and-chicks are descendents from his gardens…
Hen and Chicks I think of my Aunt Mabel and Aunt Marion. They both had them in big tubs in the front yard and one by the door you came in…the back door of course.
I love this photo…
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who loves this photo… you have the most amazing eye ๐
My late mother in law, had a rock garden. Hens and chicks featured throughout, poking in and out of the ground covers and stones. I will always be reminded of her in a garden. She IS the garden.
