A French Antique Angel Wing

She left her mark gentle and strong as a sign of hope for others.

Our smallest gestures can unfold grace and courage, leave them abundantly.

  1. Beautiful wing, beautiful post. I so believe that even the smallest acts of kindness and friendhship, the smallest attentions, a little thoughtfulness… bring about grace, courage, understanding… mend the heart and the soul and cause them to bloom and rejoice.

  2. I love angel wings I have them everywhere.
    May troubles neglect you
    May angels protect you.

Even your smallest posts manage to leave a big impact.
You really have a gift Corey.

  4. beautiful, and the “B” photo in the previous post is to die for Darling! You truly have the best taste ever!

  5. Yes, exactly as Sharon has posted; you have a gift, Corey.

  6. You always find the perfect words to say, to notice an angel wing on a chimney and to say that it was left as a sign of hope to others is thought-provoking.

  7. We are all angels, born with only one wing.
To truly fly we must embrace another.

    Hi Lee,
What a perfect quote. Thank you Lee for sharing it.

  8. You could change the course of a life through a simple kind gesture.

  9. Sometimes it is the smallest act that brings the biggest happiness, and the widest smile.
We should never underestimate the little things in life.

  10. oh a wing is a symbol of hope for me…i love the way the french just know how to create a scene that says so much…blessings, rebecca

  11. Thank you for these beautiful words to start the morning!

  12. Our town’s symbol is a wing, so this reminds me of home when I’m a little farther away then I’d like…

  13. Leaving your mark is an important thing to do.

    every now & then…

  19. You remind me of the saying “practice random acts of kindness”. You draw us close and hug us and encourage us and tickle us with your words and images.
They should put you on the food pyramid Corey. Daily servings of you are nourishing and essential to ones well-being.
    Thank you! 🙂

  20. I must be a pessimist because the first thing I thought was an angel(someone’s guardian angel) has lost a wing and fallen from grace. It frightened me, like watching remnants of carnage, but then I saw this quote:
We are all angels, born with only one wing. To truly fly we must embrace another.- Luciano de Crescenzo
in the comments section and felt better. 🙂

  21. Beautiful wing and words.

  22. Is everything in France so lovely or did you buy it all?
I feel like a broken record when I leave a comment.
But I want to leave one…cause you share such beauty with us…
I guess I will just say,
    Merci.

  23. Oh, Corey, I FINALLY got my self over to the bookstore and found the only copy of Somerset Life, and oh, wow, your pages are absolutely beautiful (which is to be expected, of course, because you and your blog are beautiful).
I don’t think I’d be the only one (and perhaps someone’s already said this) who thinks you should put together a book…a gorgeous coffee table book or a sweet book of daily inspirational readings… I would treasure it.

  24. I always love your pictures Corey. You have such an eye for “beautiful.”
And the words that you find for these pictures…amazing!
We have a picture of Steven that I took in the house…somehow the reflection of the flash against the semi-gloss paint gave him angel wings.
(My sister hates the picture…I love it! Maybe I’ll share.)

  25. What a lovely, graceful image!

  26. Quelle grâce, on ne se lasse pas de contempler !

  27. This post gave calm to a very worried person. (We put in a bid on a house. Happy thoughts Happy thoughts….)
    big hugs at you…
    ~Amy

  28. Yes, so gentle, yet so strong. Little things do mean so much. Just beautiful.

  29. She lifted her wing…
    And she left her mark!

  30. i feel like a broken record too: i love your words. they are gentle and full of hope too.

  31. She walks in beauty! (As do you, Cory) When I feel like giving up on building my art related internet site, you somehow, unknowingly give me a little inspirational nudge.

  32. I needed a sign of hope today.
    Merci.

  33. and like her you are leaving your mark…through this blog…

  34. A wing and a prayer…

  35. What a beautiful image with words to match. You are an inspiration!

    Bonjour,
I have just by chance come across your website, such beautiful pictures, and I adore France. Greetings from England.

  37. I’ve often had this reoccuring sign in my life. Angel with one wing…it is a common thing with me.
One Christmas, I pulled the cracker, and I had an angel ornament in there, with only one wing. Any angel I have ever bought, loses a wing. Weird!
    xo

  38. Your words take flight
    and enfold us
    in your kind thoughts…

  39. with your permission I will use that great quote on my blog.

  40. Elegant photo!

  41. If we will but remember that!!!!!

  42. I love that wing… So elegantly formed. Is it made of wood? (I WANT one!)

  43. Lovely, and put me in mind of a poignant folk-country song by Tom Russell. The first lyric and chorus:
“He had a blue wing tattooed on his shoulder
Well it might have been a blue bird I don’t know
But he’d get stone drunk and talk about Alaska
The salmon boats and 45 below
He said he got that blue wing up in Walla Walla
And his cellmate there was Little Willy John
And Willy he was once a great blues singer
And Wing and Willy wrote ’em up a song. They said…
It’s dark in here; can’t see the sky
But I look at this blue wing and I close my eyes
And I fly away beyond these walls
Up above the clouds where the rain don’t fall
    On a poor man’s dream. …”

  44. This beautiful photo reminds me of the angel on the facade of Reims Cathedral. She has a bullet hole in her wing (from the war) but she still smiles.
The cathedral was covered in scaffolding when I was there, so I couldn’t see the angel with the bullet hole. Besides she was too high up. So I just blindly aimed my camera as high as I could and took a picture.
When the film was processed, there she was: smiling at me, with a bullet hole in her wing.
    xoxo

So many touching words, for a first time visitor. Just what my soul needed. Would love to buy a wing, just like that.
    Love your blog, too.
