From the hands of a potter, who wore an apron that read, "Getting better with age," a little bird was about to spread her wings and fly. Funny, but the little bird reminded me of Pinocchio, and growing up. Certainly, the apron’s message added to my thinking this way.
Perched on a fence post the hand crafted birds seem to strut their stuff, as they fluffed their feathers, and chirped, "Pick me, pick me!" A nearby sign said: "Birds for sale. Pick the one want and leave $15 in the box below." Trust seemed to be their middle name. I was enchanted by that: Trust, let go, and let be.
It was hard to pick just one.
Then suddenly, as it happens to those of us who see change on the horizon, the little birds, the apron’s message, were symbolic signs…trust, let go, fly! Those little birds made me think of Chelsea, who will be spreading her wings and creating her own nest in the world of university.
As I stood looking at the blue of the wing, the sound of the Pacific ocean soothed my feathers, my tears seem to run into the sea unnoticed like another wave flowing forth and racing back. It seems everything these days point to the emptying of the nest, and the words trust, let go…fly!
As I turned around Chelsea had a little bird cradled in her hands. Like a sign, yes like a sign, I knew my little girl was ready to go and become her dreams.
