Walking on her Own.

One of Chelsea’s first burning desires happened when she was in kindergarten, when her class went to see a circus. It was at that moment that she knew what she wanted to do with her life.

After the circus she came running up to me blurting, "When I grow up I want to be the circus lady who walks down the stairs on her hands!"

I asked her if she knew how to walk on her hands? Of course she did not know how. I told her she best start practicing. Shyly she asked, "If I start as soon as we get home, do you think I’ll be ready?"

Every chance she had she practiced. I couldn’t believe her determination. She fell often. Never cried, and tried again and again. Two weeks later she walked on her hands.

Twelve years later she has forgotten about walking on her hands. Though I am certain she hears the circus calling….. Come one and all! Explore! Step right up and see the many marvels of the world! Jump in and enjoy!"

I know she is ready for life’s big adventure.

  1. If I had the chance to go back at the time of my youth, I would definitely have jumped right in to see the marvels of the world!

  2. How you must treasure that memory.
With such a persevering attitude as that, she’s sure to be able to handle the many adventures in store for her.
    Lovely photo.

  3. That’s such a coincidence! My second daughter Maisie announced she wanted to be a circus lady after a visit to a circus in France. She would practise juggling and balancing for ages.
I hope in a few years she will be as ready as Chelsea.

No doubt her best adventures are all ahead. Guess she’s off to school soon? Jordana is home until the 12th, then back to university for her senior year.

  12. When I read the post early this morning…waiting for a teen to return long past curfew…I was awed by Chelsea’s determination and courage.
Great traits when entering a new phase of her life.
But she’s not joinging the circus, right? Some of the comments are confusing me!
Still, joining the circus or going on in schooling, the determination and courage that Chelsea displays are great character traits!

  13. Ah she’ll be going away to school soon. I’m excited to see what SHE has in store for the future.
Jessica is addicted to practicing walking on her hands. And cartwheeling, and handstands, and headstands.

  14. Chelsea can be anythingshe WANTS! Hands down!

  15. chelsea will leave her warm nest, flying and spreading her wings into new horizons, gliding towards new adventures where the winds of the world will guide her way…
wishing her good luck and succes for a bright future!

  18. As long as she promises not to run away with the circus, she gets free rein to practice the handstand routine at leisure.

  19. Your sweet Chelsea received many blessings from her mother.

  20. Reading your blog always cheers me up. Thank you!

  21. You have a bright and courageous young girl/woman there.
I just noticed your new banner and I can’t for the life of me remember what was there before… Did your old banner have a French door on it??

Chelsea knows how to set goals in her life and to focus on them. This fall will take her on the road to achive another goal. Good luck and greetings to her from Norway both from me and my 18 year old Ingrid 🙂 We are crossing our fingers for her.
Ingrid still has two years left in High School. One year extra because she is able to do sports (handball) at school together with studies.

  24. Good luck God Ma Chelsea girl!! My prayers and good wishes for you as you begin the begin!
