Give it your best Shot

Foot

The shout went out, "Put your best foot forward!"  The table leg obeyed.  She didn’t care that her foot was peeling, cracked and rough.  It was her best.  It was more than enough.

photo:   A peeling red table leg knows her stuff.  Genuine antique.

The genuine antique and the video with the geniune pink/red dancer – perfect for my Pavarotti’s music mood today.

  10. Alot to be said for peeling old legs!!

  11. When I see a piece like this my mind conjures up the people circled around the table, the food that graced its top – the conversations and secrets that it has heard. Not just a piece of furniture, it becomes a living entity.

  12. Sad to say, but that sort of looks like my leg.

  13. ParisBreakfasts

  17. It really is a great photo Corey, but somethin in me just wants to grab a big ol’ wire brush and have at it! 🙂 Now, that’s not a very shabby chic thought at all, is it? Have a great french weekend!

  25. “Peeling, cracked, and rough…” Hey, that sounds like my feet!

  26. I love things like this . . . is that the original paint??
    ————————–
Yes it is, I took this photo at an abandon house.

  27. I looove stuff like this — found lots of it north of Mexico — but this color is so pretty.

  28. To me, this has such a flavor of items that were around when I was a child that it makes me almost home-sick. The stories are apparent in all of the texture! Wonderful photo and post!

  29. This is beautiful Corey ~ I love cracked & peeling paint more than the brand new look.

  30. the weathered table is just beautiful, worth restoring and the wood looks still good to me. i’ll bet it’s one of your moms treasures once belonging to her garden. i’m sure she’ll find a new place for it.

  31. Lori Witzel

This is MY kind of paint job. Loverly pic and find!

Our best is always more than enough, isn’t it? Even if we’re a antique, like that table…

  33. how sad is it that I thought….I am dealing with enough lead paint with the toys manufactured in China, ?? But I do love old rusty paint peeling stuff!

  34. Elaine LaMonk

I love your post and the sentiment it conveys with such simplicity of words. You really should transfer your blog into a book. I would buy it!
When are you going to treat us to a YouTube of you and FH dancing?

    Hi Melanie
I didn’t make this. I saw this table in an abandon house. Though I’d love to learn to create a patina this realistic!

  36. I own this table, or something close. 2 drop leaves and these lathed legs. It’s my dining room table, replete with good memories, though missing its internal leaves (I have only the drop leaves). I vote for natural wood (mine is oak).

  37. Even old pink is pretty.
Poetry under the table? I once left my journal in a restaurant by mistake. When I went back later that day looking for it, I found it under a table being used to steady a wobbly table.

  38. This photo is so beautiful. It grabs me. I’m not sure why…. the color… the subject… the texture…I just love it!

  39. annie lockhart

ok…it’s settled, after watching the video…i shall wear read for my first belly dancing performance!
