A cup that runneth over

                   Antiquejapanglass

A cup can be used to drink tea. or hot chocolate. or a shot of Calvados over ice cream. It also can be used for holding pennies, or trinkets like paper clips, or baby teeth. A cup of hot tea can come in handy as a hand warmer, it is a generous thing. A cup can hold a votive and be used as a portable lantern to show you the way. Or it can measure spices or as a candy cup to feed your ideas. A cup is one with multiple uses and it never complains. A cup is a place where you can put your thoughts like prayers …trust it will sip them gently as you talk.

    Dear Corey,
don’t ask me why, but I have always wanted to be the first to see and post on your daily blog. It’s me today! Yippee!! I won the prize. Silly me.
Seriously, I have to say that the post on Shelly from a few days ago was so moving. I asked my 20 year old daughter to read it and it springboarded into a deep conversation about what is important and life and decisions she is making in her life right now. Thank you for sharing about your love and pain. God bless Shelly.
    xoxo

  14. Corey,
After reading your words and then the link on this post, my cup runneth over! Thank You for the blessing of your words. This remnids me of a story of a little boy I once taught in Children’s Church. He was a tattered little thing who came to church via our bus ministry, unfortunately, we had many such children at the time. We fed them a healthy breakfast and loved them and tried to make them feel valued. One day I decided to make all the children a little decorated box and I made up a worksheet that could be written on and then cut up into strips which would then be folded and placed in each child’s box. I gathered the children around the table and gave each a worksheet, with one labled for each child, and asked them to follow the writing promt which read, “I like you because…” The answers they wrote were amazing and each child was so jittery and excited to see what had been written to them. We then had a little lesson on encouragement. My most tattered little boy ran up to me and hugged the stuffing out of me. He looked up at me and said, “I ain’t never been ‘preaciated or ‘couraged afore. I’m keepin’ this here box for ever. This is the bestest day ever!” Needless to say I shed more than a few tears. Not long after this he and his family moved away and I have often wondered if he still has his little box of encouragement. Couldn’t we all use a cup?
    Blessings,
    Miss Sandy

  27. “and my cup runneth over…” This is a beautiful cup. When I see something like this I always wonder about the one who made it. I visualize their hands carefully preparing the porcelain and the painter with the brushes too.
I guess I think this way because I love making things.

  28. My cup runneth over…I heard today about a friends sudden illness, how this poor women has had more than her share.
I am putting a little note in the mail tomorrow for her to find…

  31. Oooh…I love that bright crimson colour! That looks like a special teacup…I think I would bestow upon it a special purpose… I have a beautiful handmade cup that a friend gave me that I only use for tea. And it’s the only cup that I drink tea from…
