Life in the Hospital

                 Angelwings

I simply cannot help myself…when a person has been in the hospital for over a length of time one starts to notice people, things and the hospital routines. One starts to recognize the gentle nurses, the doctor with the best bedside manners, where the maternity section of the hospital is located, the shortcuts via the stairwells, where one can find the good left over magazines…

So it stands to reason that I would notice a certain student nurse named Maria who was very attentive to my Father while here in the hospital. She was a doll, so very loving in how she helped my Father and she said she thought our family was wonderful. (Wonderful?? That last thought sparked an idea in me.)

I asked if she was single, and when she said yes…(well I have a million cousins you know and many single ones at that!)

My Dad shook his head in disbelief when I mentioned to Maria that I loved matchmaking. I told her I had a cousin name Joshua, a gem of a guy…well to make a long story short…poof he came to visit my Dad in the hospital today!

I think that is a sign don’t you?

  1. You’re on a matchmaking roll, Corey! At least you won’t have to deal with the travel logistics as with Mattieu and Eva….more time to plot and plan!
    Keep us posted……

I guess your dad is feeling much better …

  3. Ahhh,,,Corey,,I smile with your Dad,,I also know the familiarity of knowing a hospital too well. So many stories there,,so much to observe, and so many opportunities to minister. I never thought of matchmaking there though,,,a silver linning,,,ha! You go girl! I wonder how Mattieu and Eva are doing?? Blessings in your day Corey.

  4. LOL! You are amazing! Is it permissible for a Corey to be incorrigible?

  5. hahaha I got such a chuckle reading your latest post. I am so glad things are easing up enough that your thoughts can turn to romance. Hope it works for your Maria and Joshua! If it does indeed work as well as your Eva and Mattieu match up then I think you’re going to need to start carrying a quiver of arrows and change your name to cupid..hee hee

  6. You are funny, always keeping an eye out for a matchmaking opportunity. Hope they all work out! In any event, any excuse to smile when in hospital is a good thing.:)

  7. Corey, Corey, Corey, Corey, Corey …… in the middle of the darkest moments you are still thinking of other people’s hearts!

  12. You aren’t one to miss an opportunity to spread love that’s for sure.
Having had a career in healthcare, I particularly enjoyed your comments about becoming familiar with the hospital. Patients and visitors find it such a strange envionment but of course it became like home to me.
Hope you Dad is continuing to improve.

  15. Corey, I swear you have a new avocation. Believe me nurses know a wonderful family when they see one. My son is a nursing student who is currently working at a residential facility for severely disabled young adults. He can tell you in an instant which families are devoted to their loved ones.

  16. You are sooo bad. Your talents are endless. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Every time my sister was hospitalized one of us stayed with her 24/7 – she didn’t like being alone – and we got to know the nurses and other staff pretty well. It becomes quickly apparent which ones have soft hearts. I remember finding hiding places for breaks when things got intense; looking at newborns is good for the soul. And most hospitals have a small garden tucked away in some corner for a quiet moment or two.
There are gifts in even the most difficult circumstances. I think You are one of those gifts.

  17. Oh Corey, Valentine’s coming up in two days, you apparently feel it and know where the arrows are.
    Good luck,
    with everything!

  18. you, thank goodness, are incorrigible!!

  19. lol… You make me smile Corey ๐Ÿ™‚ Do you have one for me???

  20. I’m so glad you’ve got a good supply of cousins – it would be a terrible waste of potential to let a lovely girl like Maria go unmatched and there are endless possibilities for the future too!

  21. ROFL!!! It’s also a sign that YOU, too, are feeling much better! Hugs to you all, Sher

  22. Oh yes – I can’t wait to read another beautiful love story!

  87. I swear, Corey, you are a LOVE MAGNET! Yes, I do think it is a sign.
I know exactly what you mean about the hospital. My father has been in two hospitals during the past year. I got to know where the linens were kept, so I could get my dad extra pillows and blankets. One time, my mother and I even changed his sheets. The patient’s and their family’s attitude toward staff, greatly enhances their care. I always made sure I was there, at night, when the doctor’s made their calls, so I could hear first hand how my dad was doing and to voice any concerns or ask questions.
    ~elaine~

  88. Corey, you are such a cutie. Look at you, even in the hospital you are playing matchmaker! I love your warm and open heart! You are an inspiration to us all. I’m so glad to hear that things are improving!
