Red Carpet Ride

Img_8543_3Since Chelsea’s friend asked her to go to the Cannes Film Festival at the very last minute… Chelsea told me, "I stuffed everything into my purse in ten minutes and dressed on the train."

I love that wild, spontaneous, free-spirit, kind of fun, don’t you?

Early this morning Chelsea called, she was giddy and made me laugh. She told me that she didn’t dare take any photos at Cannes Film Festival… "Mom it just wasn’t the thing to do, and secondly I was afraid someone might take my camera and smash it."

"Well okay no photos, but tell me did you recognize anyone?" Since Indiana Jones was playing at the festival she saw Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett. Lucky duck that Chelsea girl.

Above is a photo of two stars that light my path since I haven’t any glitter, snap, crackle, or pop- nor Brad or Depp to offer you from last night’s red carpet extravaganza.

On another note- A high school friend came to visit me today. She told me that on her birthday her husband asked her what she would like and she said, "I would like a memory." I found that to be the perfect idea for a gift… a memory.

Chelsea sure gave me a sweet one.

Time with your children passes so swiftly, I know you are going through the grieving process with you mother but I hope that it is not long before you (and perhaps mom too) are back in beautiful Southern France with your loved ones. Here is to new warm and happy memories to be made. Warm regards. M Read

  10. What an exciting adventure. I love the image of her dashing off and dressing on the train. I love, love, love anyone who “gets” spontaneity. It’s what makes life exciting!

  11. When in France go to Cannes!! I’m glad she had the opportunity.
I, the undsophisticated one, would’ve been clicking my camera left and right…but discreetly of course ๐Ÿ˜‰

  12. Oh, how fun for her! She is a doll! I love the last minute-heading-for-the-train-
get-dressed-red-carpet-evening! Thanks for letting us in on it.
    Best,

  13. Oh what a beautiful pair you have there! I love that picture so much more than one of “the stars”.
What a memory this will be for Chelsea, especially dressing on the train! I love that about your family, just go for the adventure! The older I get the more I want that, for myself, and others. What else do we have as we grow old- I love my memories. Listen to me- I’m only 40 something- many more to be made.
I love you Corey, thanks for sharing your life with us.

  14. There is nothing like a great photo of someone you love.
Thinking back to the days when photos weren’t a readily accessible thing, can you imagine the sentimental value people must have place on the photos of their loved ones.
Every time I look at a photo of people, I’m reminded that someone loved them enough to take that picture, have it developed/printed and hang on to it. Now thats a sign of love if you ask me.
I like seeing photos of you too, Corey.

  15. How exciting! Just to see Harrison Ford…yummy!
    Beautiful picture!

  16. You have a lovely family, Corey, and how blessed you are that they will all bring you lovely memories!

  17. What a fun and so memorable event…and what a terrific idea for a gift too…maybe a little challenging for the giver, but certainly something wonderful to mark a special occasion.

  18. I would rather see a picture of YOUR stars any day! How bright and beautiful they are! ๐Ÿ™‚

I like the look in FH’s eyes when he is glancing towards Chelse. In any language it is “This is my little girl and I’m so proud of her and love her so much”. You have a wonderful family Corey.

  21. Your daughter is so beautiful! I know her adventures in Cannes will provide many wonderful memories as the years go by!

  22. Cheryl in California

Pictures of your loved ones are more beautiful than those of any Hollywood “star”!

  23. I too love the spontaneity of her actions, getting ready on the train will probably be one of the highlighted moments! I think there is a time to snap away with a camera and a time to snap away with the minds eye, smart girl you have there to know the difference. A camera would not have captured the excitement of memory of the moment. Some things are just meant to be experienced.
I have a milestone Birthday coming up and have been asked what I want, now I know ~ a memory! Thanks for the wonderful idea!

    Dear Corey,
Don’t know if you got my email telling you i’m in London. But today I got access to the net, And so here i am to have a sneak peak on your frensch stars! Your one yourself, you know that!
    Love*

  25. What joy to be that spontaneous and have such an amazing adventure. Truly this is not an event just anyone attends so how great for her to experience it first hand. I admit I’d be a bit start struck and not being able to take photos would be agony. She was wise to err on the side of caution though! What a memory for her! She and French Husband look stunning!
Speaking of memory, what a fabulous idea your friend had for a gift! I will remember that, it costs nothing and lasts a lifetime!
    Thinking of you dear Corey!
    XOXOXO
    love and hugs,
    Lisa

  30. I’m so glad that Chelsea had a terrific time at Cannes. And she got to see Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchet. Cool!
And yes, asking for a memory as a birthday gift is a great idea. I wonder how your friend’s husband is going to interpet that wish?
