Together we Bloom

Stand-alone-zinna

Standing seemingly alone-
the warmth of the sun crowns my head,
the earth a pedestal for my feet,
and the stars shine unseen in the light of day…

A bird calls,
the ice cream truck sings,
as a dog runs behind it.
Petals unfold, one by one.

Standing alone it seems,
Yet life in its majesty,
wraps its cloak around us,
connecting together everything.

P.S.

Dreaming dandelions, wow what fantastic links! But I have to admit fried dandelions is something I'll have to think twice about. To name a few that I loved– the image links to dandelions, the line of baby clothes, Rolling Stones lyrics and clip, Sheeley's cards and Duchess the poem from Walt.

  2. hallo Corey,
I am so glad you liked the Walt Whitman poem. I always think he sums things up so perfectly. Reading his work is ‘comfort’ reading for me.

  3. Love and hugs and smiles across the miles.

  4. Blowing a delicate dandelion wish filled with magic in your direction.

  7. Dandelions. They play such a part in your life in childhood, it seems. But forgotten as an adult. I remember blowing them as a kid. Watching the fine particles dance in the breeze. Lovely post.

  8. Checking in on you from over the mountain. It seems more like fall than spring here in our part of No. CA this morning.

  9. Hope you have a nice weekend Corey!

  10. Brilliantly colored Gerbera Daisies – a sign of Summer on the horizon. Meanwhile, we are having a beautiful Spring here in NC – a real treat as it usually goes from Winter to Summer and is far too hot too soon!
Blessings for the weekend Corey – I know you will be enveloped by your loving family…..but missing your dear father on the holiday.
Many understand how hard it is to stand strong with or without a crown.
    Fondly – Mary.

The visuals don’t apply, but the message does.

  13. I love Zinnias, too, and grow them every year. Purple and green are good together, orange always cheers and the candy striped ones are fantastic. All of this beauty for the cost of a pack of seeds. Yea!!

  14. I saw your words and images all over the Stampington publications this morning as I browsed at the book store–little pieces of you to read and enjoy. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

  15. Lovely zinnia!
I must get some more bedding plants! They are just too beautiful!

  17. Happy French Mother’s day, Corey.

  18. You may not feel like dealing with this sort of frivolous blogosphere thing at the moment, but I have given your blog an award

Normally I might have held off on rewarding you, but this one just seems to fit Tongue in Cheek so perfectly.
Happy French Mother’s Day from Aveyron.

  19. I a bit late in saying this, but I’m so glad you like my photograph. My mother, (Teresa Sheeley) she’s a sneaky one! I didn’t know she said anything about it. 🙂 I hope all is well with you!

  20. Oh Corey, Zinnias are one of my FAVORITE flowers. I can remember being about 5-6 years old. My grandmother’s sofa backed up to a huge picture window. At that window grew the most fabulous display of zinnias. How I loved to drape myself over the back of that sofa and gaze out that window. I’ve got a bumper crop of zinnias growing out in my garden right now…..yippee !!!!!
    Great photo.
