The Girl Thing

IMG_6931

These little nieces of mine, in their dress-up clothes looking at one another, dreaming of romance in castles and pretending they are grown-up… I told them I was going to tie a brick to the top of their heads in order to keep them pint size. They think I am kidding. Little do they know that if the brick idea worked I would probably do it.

  3. Oh they are just so beautiful and the photos are gorgeous. You really have a gift of capturing the moment in an instant.
I know what you mean about the brick thing. It’s Chloe’s birthday next week and she’s turning 12 (she thought it was 13 lol) I told her I was going to put my hand on her head to stop her growing up any more. Time goes way too fast.
Hope you’re having a lovely summer with your family. Nel xo

  4. Those children are magnificent and beautiful and having the childhood most of us dream of……….
    Truly blessed are you all.
    Love Jeanne

  5. I can just hear the young giggles, what a treat for you to have them in your life. Your photos are spectacular Corey, you have a special gift.

  6. The top pic is absolutely enchanting! It reminds me of the old picture postcards from the turn of the century. The models(aka your nieces) are the cutest little things.
It would be wonderful if we could stop time and let them linger as beautiful, innocent souls but then remembering your own life just think of the things we would be depriving them of; like falling in love with that handsome prince and someday making you a great-aunt.
Enjoy your 4th of July weekend!

  17. Sooo sweet.

  18. Last year, this year………next year taller but impossible to be sweeter! You certainly are amazing behind the lens whether catching the beauty of your nieces, or peeling paint!
Think I’ll borrow one of your bricks to plonk on granddaughter Jasmin’s pretty head – 12th birthday looming and the dangerous years ahead. If only the age of innocence could last……forever!!!
Have a great Fourth with your family Corey. Hope the fires are not in your area.
    Hugs – Mary.

  24. Corey, they are each absolutely gorgeous and your pictures portray their very lively spirits! Although I’m sure they have their moments, as all children (and adults as well) do, they seem to really enjoy each other and are a great support team. A wonderful thing to witness!

  30. FANTASTIC! This is what I LOVE to see – children acting their age, pretending – using their imagination. Just being kids. I am on a crusade to keep children – children!!!!! Thank you so much. Caren

  31. I’d like to see pint size Corey with her cousins.

  32. I love the first photo…it makes me want to watch Pride & Prejudice and have tea with scones. I love the way you document your time with your nieces…it looks like so much FUN! Thank you for bringing such beauty to my Thursday.

  35. Playing dress up is one of the great activities of childhood. That, and watching mom sit at her dressing table getting ready for an evening out.
I love the little girl in the middle of the last picture. WOW, what a beauty. I hope you’re using your great photography talents to do portraits of these “ladies”.

  36. They are growing so fast. And I am still dreaming of romance in castles while pretending to be grown-up

  37. Those pictures brought back memories of dressing up in my Aunt’s old recital gowns…with the fur collar and cuffs…in 80+ degree weather in the attic! LOL oh such fun…such true fun for little girls to play dress up.
Of course, i was always the Queen..but…
Thank you for sharing those pictures because they triggered some very happy memories of my own!
i wish adult women could still play dress-up every once in a while!
    😀

  38. oh the days of dress-up…I loved those days. Such beautiful nieces.
    blessings and love

  39. How pretty they are! I am planning a ‘dress up’ box for my granddaughter. She is an infant right now, but in the blink of an eye, she will be old enough to play dress-up! (And, maybe a ‘pirate’ box for her big brother?)

  40. Such beautiful little girls in your family, Corey! I know what you mean about the brick idea… I keep telling my youngest children I want to keep them little, especially now because my oldest son just became taller than me this spring!

  49. The innocence, the beauty, the joy. There are so many emotions and memories that burst from my mind when I look at those enchanting little ones. You captured so much in just those few shots. Thank you for sharing this with us. sh

  50. Beautiful girls. Beautiful depiction of childhood. I especially like the black and white photos – the reflected light from the hand mirror in the first photo, and the long hair flying as the girls twirl? further down…
It’s always a delight to read and see your posts Corey.

  51. Beautiful beautiful Pictures!
You totally captured little girls, reminds me of my own six year old princess. I too don’t want her to grow up too fast!
    Loved that!!

  52. Corey, these are gorgeous photographs!!! I’ve said this before but if I were these little ones’ parents, I’d be begging for copies to frame and hang up on my walls. Beautiful!
