French Lavender Baskets

                          Lavender baskets

French lavender baskets. Similar to lavender bottles or wands, except the floral part is not concealed and the stems fold upward and are not sealed above the lavender blossoms. I am not really good at art directions, nor giving detailed recipes.

Photo: Lavendar baskets from France, sold at the flea market, hand made by an elderly woman.

Tomorrow I am ready to have a humdinger of a guessing game, I hope you will dare to play along. I promise you it will be the toughest one to date.

I love lavender bottles/wands. I find them useful ad very decorative.
Did YOU (or your mother)make those baskets, Corey?
Can you press the “scent button” on your key-board, please…

  2. ohhh these look like a wonderful weaving project!!!
So good to see all of you having fun!
I WOULD love to know how to make these-hint hint
    xo

  3. Oh, those are SO pretty! Thank you so much for all of the lovely pictures!
Now I’m trying to guess what the guessing game will be. LOL

  4. So cute…and can’t wait for the humdinger of a guessing game!!! (hug)

  5. Those are so cute! I never seem to have enough lavender wands to do anything like that with. I could never seem to grow the stuff in my yard. We do have several lavender farms here in Texas, but the pictures never look quite as stunning as the pictures of the ones in France.

  6. I just made my first lavender wands last week – sooo painstakingly slow, but beautiful and worth the time. I like your baskets too. There’s a large portion of our front yard that’s terribly neglected and I’m hoping to turn it into a lavender field by next year; there’s no such thing as too much lavender.

  7. In this world of hectic days, drive-through and takeout, what a perfect way to takeaway some of Nature’s bounty. In it’s own little basket! Hanging from the bedpost it’s heavenly scent will linger for months.

    Love you

  9. I’ve made wands but never seen the baskets. They must smell wonderful. I’ll be back to join the guessing game tomorrow.

  10. I LOVE your guessing games.
I want lavender to plant, but it’s so expensive here.
I had forgotten to tell you in the past that I went to a huge antiques fair in Massachusetts one year and there was a seller who had unusual items. I picked one up and he told me to guess what it was once used for. It was such an old contraption from the 1800’s and I had no clue, but he had me guessing at the other items at his stand. It was fun to actually find out what everything was used for. Just ordinary everyday things like buttering your corn cob or a soap holder…things like that.

  11. I LOVE lavender!!!! Did you make the wonderful baskets? You can almost smell their wonderful aroma……ahhhhh!!!

  12. Beautiful! Looks like lavender heaven to me. 🙂
I cannot wait for your guessing game. I always play along, even though I am a terrible guesser!

  13. Dear Corey,
Its wonderful to see your recent posts about all things French.
I’ve gotten a tiny patch of lavender to grow in my mostly shady backyard and love it.
One senses the veil of grief beginning to lighten enough over your life for you to peek out.
I’m sure having your family close by is a tonic for you.
Blessings to you and your extended family, especially your mom, as you go forward honoring your dad’s
    memory with your life.
    Fondly,
    Maria in New York

  18. These are amazing – I’ve only seen the wands before – lovely to actually see the little floor heads peeking out, and the cute handle. Bet they are finicky to make – perhaps I can find some already done when there in October!
Looking forward to the guessing game

  19. Love those lavender baskets. I wish this was scratch-and-sniff.

  26. Ah, the smell of lavendar. I don’t believe there is a better smell. I love lavendar wands, but have not seen baskets. Thanks for sharing the photo.
Can’t wait for the guessing game. I’m never good at guessing, but I’ll be back tomorrow to see what your game will be about!

  27. I wish could smell these. I am game for the game. Can;t wait to see what you got in mind.
    love and blessings

  28. OOoh I would love to see and smell these in real life! They look beautiful. BTW I just love the idea of the outdoor bed.

  29. The lavender festival here in Oregon was the weekend before last. OH HOW I WISH I HAD SEEN YOUR LAVENDER BASKETS THEN. I would have bought enough fresh bundles to make some of those as well as the wands we made. There is something so pure and theraputic about working with lavender and breathing in the fresh scent it fills the air with. Where can I find dircections for those sweet baskets of lavender? I just love your photos and the surprise of seeing what you post about each day. BTW, I love your photos and your contributions to Victoria and Romantic Home magazines that I’ve been seeing lately. You are an amazing woman; so talented and gifted. And I love your humility and down-to-earth personality even more. Blessings to you and yours!
