Paradise Found

                     IMG_7725

Overlooking the Pacific ocean, sits a small studio on a bluff in Northern California. For one glorious week this home away from home had us snuggled tight and anchored our hearts deep within its foundation. The sunsets from those windows, the symphony of the ever changing sea, the calmness of being together alone with nature. Paradise found.

An old rocking chair by the window. Tempting me to stay longer, with a view that mesmerized each of my senses.

Reading at the kitchen table, while French Husband peeks at the morning fire in the wood burning stove.

A place with a million games and willing partners.

Carefree, endless hours of wandering thoughts. Flip flops foot loose and everyone comfortable in his skin.

Where the children go and go and go and go and find other places to explore from sunrise to sunset never meeting boredom.

Why does it remind me of the studio in the old 1965 movie The Sandpiper? (Liz Taylor, Richard Burton movie, which I liked mostly because of the artist studio she worked in and the scenery)

I could not find an image of the tiny studio she worked in, but it looked like your place, at least in my mind’s memory. I just felt a strong connection with that place and it has similar feeling to your pictures. I would love to know where it is also.

  17. Sweet Repose

What a treasury of gifts this little abode by the sea has awarded you…I envy anyone who has access to the sea, but I have my memories to transport me there in the blink of an eye. Be well Corey…

  31. Ed in Willows

I can almost smell the salty air and feel the cool breeze. It’s been too long since I was there and can’t wait to get back. It’s a great place to recharge the batteries and release the stress of life. Thanks for the little taste on Ft. Bragg.

  36. Marilyn

Yes it is magical and just to place to heal and love. I can guess where it is, but would love to know more about it and how you found it.

  37. Debbie in CA : )

Simply magical! Aaaaaahhhhhh, I’m homesick for the coast. Our Mountain scapes are spectacular, but nothing matches the tang of salt and the bracing spray from an incoming wave. I’m looking forward to our next forray to the beach (we go off season to Westport and have the place to ourselves). What a spectacular post. I’ll be back by to enjoy the pics when I need a pick-me-up (and since the deck builders arrived at 7 am and I hear crash*boom*zing-zing, I know I’ll be back a few times today). Enjoy the Bliss! : )

  38. Rosemary

What a beautiful place. How it must restore the soul and bring about such peace and contentment. I once visited Maine in mid June. Such a beautiful time of the year, just before the tourist season started up. Sitting on the pier overlooking the jetty. How wonderful it was. Sigh.

Wow! What a cool place to stay during your family trip. You really do find the neatest places, Corey. I’m still daydreaming of that place in France along the coast with all those big mansions along the edge. SO many stories can be inspired from both these places, can’t they?

  52. So great to see, and your recent photos make me very much need to head outdoors.
    take care, g xo
