The Gift of Flowers

IMG_7417

The question was asked, "If everyday you could have flowers, wine, chocolates, or some other small luxury of choice, what would you want?

I rarely buy flowers for myself and yet that would be the small luxury I would pick,  (no pun intended) flowers any kind everyday.

Photo: A rare treat- French Husband in Westport- after collecting a handful of flowers along the coast.

  1. Oh wild flower bouquets are the best. I really like the mix of rustic driftwood with your special bouquet, gorgeous! I think I must be spoiled, cause I have my treat that I want every day, coffee or ice cream, depending on the mood. I think that sounds decadent, admitting it, but it’s nice to acknowledge one’s own decadent parts of life rather than not notice..haha
I just realized by taking a photo of your flowers they will never *wilt* or colours fade. I love the technology age!!!

  2. Why limit to just one choice? Today I pick flowers, tomorrow chocolate, then after that a good glass of wine … I love the choices in life.
Actually, if I must choose just one I would say flowers and a love note. One of my fondest memories fell on our 10th anniversary. We were broke (maybe worse) and our marriage was fraying from the long hours my husband worked at his own startup company. He left for work before I was up on the day of our anniversary, but before leaving he picked a bouquet of flowers from our gardens and wrote a sweet note on a business card. I awoke later to find the special treat. Fourteen years later I still have that card in my jewelry box.
About five years ago his company sold for oodles of $, but that money means less to me than that precious love note on a business card. Flowers send me. : )

What an amazing photograph! I love the way you placed the wildflowers within the drift wood.
Artistictly, the whole composition of the photo is perfect.
And . . . OMG . . . the man even has beautiful hands. LOL

  4. Every year, in January, I make a resolution that I will buy fresh flowers every week… This is the first year I’ve stuck to it!

  5. Chuckling over Elaine’s comment.
I’m with debbie in CA – bring on the surprises, bring on change. I’ve reached the stage of distant appreciation with flowers. I’ve planted them everywhere and so never have to pick them. I just watch my yard produce bouquet after living bouquet. As for chocolate, I’m way past the admiration stage and deep into the addiction stage. But the road to my heart is paved with gestures – a hug, a pat in passing, an unexpected thank you note, holding hands.

  6. One small luxury everyday? How sweet would it be to have a very hot and overflowing bubble bath every night with a cup of hot tea and a good book to read? That would be my luxury.
(In a big bathtub…not my little one!)

    Meilleurs voeux!!

  13. What a wonderful picture, Corey! I love how those flowers are in the driftwood. I too would pick flowers over chocolates, etc. I love fresh flowers. Someday I hope to have enough perrenials that I can pick fresh flowers everyday in the summer. Another ‘work in progress’ around here!
    Have a great weekend,
    Jill

  18. Dinner cooked by my fella (he’s an excellent cook)n would top the list. A luxury I love is really good perfume like Chanel No. 5 or Boucheron.
FH’s bouquet and vase are so beautiful. Who’d ever have thought of ever using driftwood in a flower arrangement!

  19. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh …the romance! What a beautiful photo …what a wonderful husband!

  20. Flowers would probably be my choice as well, but the thoughtfulness behind them would be appreciated the most.
French Husband surely is a keeper 😉

My vote is for FLOWERS … or “a” flower. When I was a child, one of the things I wanted to have when I grew up was fresh flowers in my home.

  31. How perfect – so much more beautiful than any formal flower arrangement.

  32. Yann is so fancy yet earthy 🙂

  33. flowers would be my pick too. they don’t add to my waistline, and there’s so many varities i’d never get tired of them. flowers always seem to lift my spirits, and if they’re a gift from someone else, even more so. they’re small miracles to me and proof that God loves me.

  34. When you were in Westport did you stop in the only store there with all the rubber duckies and learn about the mother’s day duck race down the creek and have one of the most devine sandwishes on the planet?
