Red wine, Brie, a Baguette and How to wear a Scarf

versailles

We are going on a little tour of France, do you want to come along? Since my cousin and her husband are coming to visit us from California, and since they have never been to France, we are going to do the cafe, wear a beret, drink red wine, sight-seeing thing…. for the next two weeks.

                                                      Paris

Marseille, Cassis, St Tropez, Avignon, Aix, Arles, and eventually Paris. Maybe do a cooking class or belly dancing or pick grapes in Bandol. Pourquoi pas?

         France

What would you do if you were coming to France? I hope to show my cousins my favorite things and discover a new thing or two… of course we will go the brocante, and taste a million pastries and visit Versailles and dance by the light of the moon.

                                                               France

Out of the many things to see and do in France, I think what we will do most of is sit and talk and watch the world go by… just soak in the day to day stuff. France is magical— Doesn't that one word "Cafe" say so?

             French

The French will get a kick out of my cousin.. he loves Hawaiian shirts. I can count the times on one hand when I haven't seen him wearing one. I think I will buy him an orange beret. He will look dashing as ever!

Red wine, brie, a baguette and how to wear a scarf… French style and a fun filled tour, you're invited.

Cool! I can’t wait. I want to go to the South of France next time… I have never been further south than Lascaux. (And that was by luck!) Maybe I can get both with the start of Le Tour!

  16. Let the tour begin
    Ooooh La La

  17. Corey, I have been to all of the places you have mentioned except
Paris. Remember the street corner in Aix? I will enjoy visiting
those special places with you this time! What a treat! My son Matthew left a week ago to study at Cambridge University. I miss him so…. I’ll have to visit him and it’s just a hop to Paris. Enjoy your visit with your cousins. I bet fall is beautiful in France!

Corey , i’m sure your cousin’s hawaian shirt won’t be a problem : ever since the French discovered “Magnum P.I.” in the 80s we kind of like it . Or at least , women , for some reason……The tour you are planning sounds absolutely great and I hope your counsins will love every minute they spend in France . I look forward to going along ! Have a nice sunday (here it is non-stop rain…since a month and a half!!)!

  19. How fun! I look forward to the journey! I was having a hard time finding your link this month but finally I did…when you head south you should take them to the vineyards where they make Chateauneuf du Pape, they give a great tour there and the CDP is great too, they also have nice oil paintings for sale there at the vineyard that make a great souvenir of the visit.

  20. Oooooooooooh, such great fun!!! I can’t wait to begin the tour!!

  21. Count me in! Your site is my daily taste of France. Thanks a million!

  22. so, coming close to La Rochelle Corey?
This time of the year is great to visit some “Chateaux de la Loire” no much turist around….and great B&B to satay ๐Ÿ™‚
but you are right: Cafรฉs are the best!
enjoy!!!! I will “come” for sure!
    a hug

  23. Count me in…sounds like so much fun!

  24. Here in South Louisiana we have a little bit of France, but I’ve never been to the real thing. I will check in often! Thank you for the invitation!

  25. I would love to come along…I would wear my clapotis!

  26. I’ll be there every morning with my coffee, waiting for the days tour to begin! Sigh…………………

  27. I’ll be there every morning with my coffee, waiting for the tour to begin!

  28. Oooo! Oui! Looking forward to it! Thank you, Corey!

  29. What about Cordes-Sur-Ciel? I was blown away (once I got my breath back from hiking up from the car park). Every doorway, narrow alleyway, though sometimes treacherous for the cobblestoned path, is exquisitely picturesque. I also had a green apple sorbet (pomme verte) there which was as close to ambrosial as I’ll ever get.

  30. Fabulous! I can’t wait to see more of France through your eyes! My baby brother and all will probably be in Paris the same time as you… so if you see a cute American baby while in Paris, it just may be my nephew! =)

  31. I’m so excited. Thanks for the invitation Corey. When I was a stay at home mom with young children I lived on the adventures of others. Only many years later was I able to have some of my own. But I still enjoy seeing things through other people’s eyes, especially yours!
The first thing I do when I go to another country is to get out of the city. I’m sure that Paris is interesting and romantic but I would stay for a day or two and then get out into the countryside. I’d love to see what farming is like in France and eat in all the little places where the locals eat. I’m sure there are regional cuisines and I’d like to try them all.

  32. Take them to L’entrecote in Paris for Steak Frites! My favorite restaurant in all of France! Have a great time!

  33. can’t wait a virtual tour.

  34. My husband loves to drive through the mountains, we sit in outdoor cafes and enjoy the markets, fresh and antique. and of course a nutella crepe on the street in Paris.

  35. Sounds like fun Corey, count me in! Wish I still had the blue beret I bought at Galleries Lafayette in Paris years ago. I’d want to visit our friend Kristi and tour the vineyard, see you, go to brocantes, the Louvre, Versailles, and the charming towns and villages all over France.

  36. Oh what fun! I can’t wait to come along for the tour. Make sure you take a photo of your cousin wearing a Hawaiian shirt! ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. This sounds like fantastic fun, I can’t wait for the tour.

  38. Corey, I’m so excited for Judy and Chris. What a great adventure they will have with you. I’m so glad you will be sharing the trip with us. I tried to get up this morning at 3:00 am to wish them a bon voyage, but alas, my alarm did not go off. (Or, I didn’t hear it?!)

  39. Yippee a free trip to France! I will be there. Blessings, Kimberly

  40. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for inviting us along. I am ready to go. I so love Paris in a way you wouldn’t expect from a Hispanic woman from Texas. Sounds like a generic thing to say but it is so genuinely felt as I was so at home in Paris more so than I have ever felt in Dallas or say Houston. Your tour sounds wonderful. But I do have a recommendation for Versailles. If you can catch it on a day they are having the musical gardens where they soothingly pump classical music thoroughout the gardens as the fountains are at their full glory. I felt as if any moment King Louis the XIV and his entourage were going to saunter by on their way to the Petit Palais. Enjoy.

  41. Hi Corey. Don’t be alarmed, but Daisy is back in the hospital. Not serious, but check my blog for details. We had to postpone the enrollment for baptism, which would have been today.

  42. Aaahhh, sounds lovely! Thanks for the invitation. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would love to sit at a cafe in France and talk about life while enjoying the sights, sounds, smells… the whole experience…drinking it all in! ๐Ÿ™‚

  43. What a perfect way to spend a holiday!! I hope you all have fun soaking up the beauties of France and the companionship of one another. xx, JP/deb

  44. Karen from Wisconsin farmland

I’ll be praying for your little godchild…and also for your family. Have a great holiday.

  45. Can I be your cousin? I’d love to come for a visit.

    Woohoooo!!!!!
I can’t wait, my husband and I soooo want to come over at the moment (his sister works on yachts – terrible I know) and we want to visit whilst she still lives there.
We have one huge beautiful thing standing in our way – IVF – the cost could be big and then if we are fortunate enough to fall pregnant I’m not sure I will be able to travel.
    Thanks for sharing, again!!

  49. Oh, this is going to be so much fun! Any place you take us will be wonderful!

  50. Oh I can’t wait either! My son Max has a blue beret I may have to borrow from him to wear while I “travel”. My favorite part will be soaking in the day to day at a cafe drinking real coffee.

  51. Can’t wait to go along! Especially looking forward to the cafes and scarf wearing tips. ๐Ÿ™‚
