French Tradition… Put your shoe not your stocking by the chimney

French Christmas shoe

Put your shoe not your stocking by the chimney tonight (the feast of St Nicolas is tomorrow) if you want it to be filled with lovely treats. In France today marks the tradition countdown to Christmas. French Christmas traditions include: Planting wheat, putting out your shoe, putting candles in the window for the feast of Mary, setting up the nativity scene…..

Do you dig my new "booties"? I recently bought them to go with my new blond hair, and to prepare myself for the ride across America on a Harley this summer. French Husband says he likes my new look. I am thinking thigh high boots…. but my thighs are not accepting the idea, they prefer the treats that will go inside these booties instead.

Ceylon Sapphire asked me to take a photo of myself in my new boots… well I did. By the way taking this photo of my foot inside these booties was no easy feat. That leg is connected to me! Goes to show you how flexible a 50 year can be.

Hey girls ! Where did you buy these fantastic boots ! I love their look

  2. These are really cool boots! Now I don’t like the ones I bought a few months ago. 🙁

  3. So here is your booty,
    Corey!
    They’re not lacey,
    nor lacy,
    but knotty
    and quite leggy…
    Very classy !

  4. Oooooh la la
I love your french traditions and you.
    Love Jeanne

  5. groovy boots Corey, Merry Christmas, the traditions are just wonderful to read about. Don’t forget to visit me in the summer.

  6. ah – I have neither chimney nor cute little boots. St. Nicholas will no doubt give me the dodge. The idea of your traveling the states in your cute booties made me chuckle. Better take a look at the Harley bike boot webpage – a far cry from those adorable boots 😉

  7. Jill Flory

you are so funny, Corey! My thighs wouldn’t like tall boots either! love the ones you bought though they are very chic!
    Blessings,
    Jill

  8. Thank goodness for yoga!!

  9. Love your new boots! Adorable! How on earth did you hoist your leg up on that table?

  10. Love the new boots!

  11. Saint Nicholas will be smitten! 🙂
Ever since I moved to Vienna, I live all winter in my boots, mine are the high ones, though. Wouldn’t know how to get through winter here without them (them, plural, i.e. more than one pair *g*).

Those boots are hot. Very, very nice. Blond hair? Really??? No, no, no Corey. In order to ride across America on a Harley you need a terrific arty/goth look. Black hair cut in a bob with straight bangs, pale makeup, blood red lips. And of course you’re going to need a full set of leathers and some sturdy leather boots – engineer type. Whatta think?

Nice boots indeed , I like the bow detail . And flexible you certainly are (anybody took your picture while you were taking a picture of your boot , by any chance ? I’m sure you are fit to work for the Cirque du Soleil !!) !

  14. Love the boots Corey….be careful this 50ish woman caught the heel on a sidewalk and broke her foot!!!

  15. I am so glad you have decided to take the trip. I did the same thing many years ago. Drove through 29 states–my intent was to go from Indiana to Alaska VIA New Orleans! It was an amazing, amazing experience-I was 19 then and am 50 now, but that trip defined and changed so much about me that I still realize today. There is so much to learn and to experience–even from the rain. Have the time of your life!

  16. Oh dear, I love those boots! I think I’m going to dye my hair blonde, too! What’s going on? I don’t turn 50 until August.

  17. Me too, I love boots, but if I can give you an advice…..better another type for riding a bike, let me say it, I’m a pro in the field…..

  18. Sheala Feeney

    Love the boots!
    Nancy SInatra would be jealous.

  19. I could tell your leg was up on a table! I’d say that’s quite flexible. 🙂

  20. I’m sure Yann does indeed like your new look, especially with your leg up on the table! 🙂

  21. Miss Sandy

    Love them!

  22. Those are GORGEOUS! Very Sexy!

  23. Ed in Willows

Love the new boots….pretty sexy. But my vote is still for the thigh high boots:

They might not be the most practical for the bike ride but they look great. A compromise might be these from Harley clothing line:

Either way, can’t wait to see you next year.

  24. those boots are GORGEOUS!! 🙂

  25. Love the boots on you–definitely sassy 😉
Do children in France try to get away with the same things children do here–putting out the biggest shoe (or stocking) you can find in hopes of getting than your sibling?

  26. ceylon sapphire

Oooooooooooh Corey, they are simply fabulous boots. The bow detail on the back is too chi-chi for words!

  27. Meowwwww! Those boots are gorgeous

  28. BLOND AND BOOTS? The states will never be the same after your trip!
    Kisses…

  29. Debbie in CA : )

Great boots! Can I have a pair before I’m 50?? I hate to wait!! Cute, cute, cute. Maybe if I leave out my old boots St. Nick will leave a snazzy pair like this inside … it’s worth a try. ; )

  30. beautiful boots on a beautiful 50 year old leg! I went shopping for boots just yesterday – no luck so far, but I’ll be trying again
    Lorrie

  31. Love the boots! I really enjoy your blog!
    Blessings,

  32. How fascinating. I didn’t know St Nicolas is also celebrated in France. In Holland it is a big feast. Most people don’t celebrate Christmas with presents. They do it tonight with poems and ingenious selfmade packages (surprises). It gives people the opportunity to make fun of (bad) habits of familymembers or things that happened in the past year. Not with their own name as giver, but in name of St Nicolas.
So a friend of mine is making a package in the form of a piano for her husband, with a funny poem that St Nicholas thinks he could use a lesson or two…..

  33. You’re a pip (as they say in NY where my husband is from)!
Can’t wait to see you and Yann.

  34. I want those BOOTS! I haven’t worn heels since… I can’t remember when! lol You are one very snazzy blonde-haired-high-heeled-hot-n-Frenchy-sexy-mama!

  36. My Melange

Very impressed with your flexibility. Thanks for the French culture lesson today…always fun learning about France.

  37. I love those boots!! They will look great with your blonde hair and scullcap riding on the back of a Harley this summer!!
I like the idea of putting a shoe out instead of a stocking for St. Nick and with you putting out your new boot, just think of the goodies you’ll get.
    Kris

  38. Love the new boots!! Ooh La La!!
What fun!! Looks good on you Corey!
    Have a great weekend!
    Rosemary

  39. Corey, those boots are great! I truly mean it when I ask where I could get a hold of similar boots (internet wise). I am short (5′) and any long boots don’t look right on me and generally fit awkwardly. And your blonde hair looks fabulous. Way to go girl!

  40. Why does this 52 year old feel older and frumpier every time I see evidence of your exciting new look? What will you show us next?
Thanks for the reminder to put out the shoes. I always seem to remember the day after.

  41. I love your new boots Corey, that little “bow” on the back is very saucy!

  42. Such cute boots! Love them!

  43. i want the booties!

  44. herhimnbryn

    Hi Gracie
I am teasing, I would NEVER wear those boots while I was riding a motorcycle. I know better.
But the idea of it seems spicy and I like that idea…but it is not serious.

  49. Gorgeous as ever Corey!

  50. Ooooooohhh, Corey, you sexy thang! Look at those boots! Love the heels, dahlin’. By the way, My boots are by the fireplace so I’ll be expecting treats.

  62. MB FARRELL

I hope you laughed at this 1960’s totally kitschy elfin boot. I host my pictures on Flickr.

  63. Corey…you’re becoming very adventurous and it is most appealing…I’m sure French husband approves..how could he not.

  64. Love the boots and the blonde hair! and the fact that you’ll be crossing the US on a Harley! I’m impressed you got your foot up to the table, or are you cheating and standing on a chair?

  65. Yes, I love your boots. You remind me of my sister. She’s constantly showing me her boots and saying, “Don’t you love my boots!”
