Ah Ha Moment

While waiting for a friend I sat down on the step and soaked in the sun.

There on the rush-hour street, with
the screeching of mopeds, the coming and going of people with busy lives who have
places to rush to, and the time ticking by trying to remind me that my friend
was late; I could not be distracted from the happiness I felt welling
up inside.

Here and now, is all I have.

At that
moment I felt connected. The meaning of life answered. My thirst
quenched. Dark made light, empty made whole…life sat still with me
and it was good.

There of all places an ah-ha moment found me and I smiled; Welcome Friend!

Dont you love those moment of complete clarity. I live near the sea here in Sydney and I am try to swim every morning. It was 5.50am New Years Eve ( just 3 days ago)and I was at the beach, the water was as smooth as glass, not a soul around and I was in the water just as the sun rose over the horizon. It was a moment so perfect, so peaceful and I felt a contentment I haven’t felt before. Just magic!

….and such moments come quietly and when we least expect them. If we are wise we smile and accept them …………

How funny…I just have posted about my ah-ha moment from yesterday and I click over here and see you’ve had one as well.
I wonder if 2009 will be filled with moments like this.
    I loved yours…

  5. Moments like that are priceless. Imagine how many we miss in our busyness. I’m so glad you shared yours.

  6. My daughter and I call them happy moments – we have agreed that they often arrive during quiet times when we are still and able to notice. Such moments are doubly delightful when they descend unannounced in the midst of some activity…
    thanks for sharing yours

Capture those moments. They happen at the oddest times.

  8. How beautiful! I’m a first time commenter, recent lurker.. I lived in France 15 years ago and you had me at “screeching of mopeds” with time ticking by trying to remind you about your late friend – love it! The cameo and its photo are amazing. Thank you and Bonne Annee.

Glorious! An ah-ha moment is rather like having a Butterfly land on your sleeve. When they do it’s absolutely “Life is worth this.”
May we be still amongst the tumble, and capture more moments like this in 2009.

  12. Wonderful..living in the moment is the only way.

  13. what a peaceful, grateful, moment. thank you for sharing it.

  14. My grandchildren were here for New Year’s. My grandson is 11 but more like a little old man inside I think. Anyway, we were lying in bed (soon he’ll be too “grown-up” to sleep with his gram) and he asked me if I knew why he always enjoyed spending time with me. A number of things went through my head before he told me. There was the obvious reason, because he loved me so much but the other one surprised me. He said because I always listened to him.
Sometimes being still and quiet can give us love.

You must have been a reader of Ms. Magazine! They defined the “ah ha” moment, or maybe it was the Jungians. I always loved both.
Or maybe you have achieved Nirvana?
No I love those moments too.

Beautiful. I’m catching up on posts, and I’ve been reading. What a lot of beauty I missed during December. Oh, that’s right, I was in the moment here, in Oklahoma. Now, for more reading now that most of the children are back at school. Happy New Year.~~Dee
