Bathroom Project Start to Finish: This was our blue bathroom. It was the only place in our home were these three words fit to describe it:
Practical…Functional…Purposeful.
Unfortunately, those three words don't fit well in my sense of style of warped ideas. When we moved into this home I had two request… Redo the bathrooms and Redo the kitchen.
Four years later we are finally diving into the second bathroom project.
Goodbye big, functional storage space for towels, toilet paper, toiletries, and cleaning products.
Goodbye monster fully tiled tub, with a splash tiled trim for easy clean up. Goodbye practical faucets and easy reach towel rack.
Goodbye two tone gold and silver flashy faucets, double sinks and spacious counter top.
Welcome sledgehammer, dust, workers who leave the front door open and the cold air in. Oh, welcome big incredible mess!
Welcome Bang, bang, bang, crash, rip, destroy…
Welcome old, rusty, need of paint, claw foot, iron tub.
Welcome big open space. Check out those stone walls behind the metal grid. (Old houses in France are made of stones. Newer ones are made with cement blocks. Wooden homes are not the norm.) By the window you can see the original facade. I asked if I could keep that wall exposed, clean it up and frame around it. I won't tell you how many faces frowned at me at such an idea.
A closer look at the facade wall.
We are thinking to put the tub at an angle. Ellen and Brother Mathew where are you when I need you!
Here is the other bathroom that we remodeled a few years ago. I do not have before pictures. The bathroom use to be avocado green with dark brown tiles. We tore everything out and created this bathroom space:
Glass wall shower without a door. Shampoo and rinse are in those containers on the floor. No need for shampoo bottles or squishy soap on the floor.
Industrial sink with iron shelfs next to it. Shower is in front of the sink.
See the shower in the reflection of the mirror?
This bathroom does not have a window, instead it has a large skylight.
The blue bathroom that we are remodeling will have a similar feel to this one. Free standing sink, no cupboards or vanity nor tiles around the sink.

The work continues and I will keep you updated on the progress.
P.S. Thank you for you concern about my lost wedding ring. It makes me feel a bit better knowing it has to be in the house somewhere…. Also thank you for sharing your lost and found wedding ring stories they bring me hope. My wedding ring is still hiding out somewhere.
