The Taste of Chocolate

A-bite-of-chocolate

A taste of French Chocolate Cake:

Or as French Husband would proclaim "A taste of baby Jesus in velvet shorts."
His second line when asked what he thinks of the dessert,
                      "The taste of not enough."

Chocolate Love in Velvet Shorts

In a large, heavy pan melt smooth and gently 200g of sweet butter. When it has surrendered every ounce of thickness add 200g of fine sugar. Sing a love song while they become one, give them time, let them soak in each other's goodness. Introduce another partner to add a darker taste of color… 200 g of coarse, dark chocolate with a pinch of cinnamon (to shake things up a bit.) Again stir until silky smooth, let it cool. Some like it hot, but in this case let it cool: Waiting tests temptation.
In the same large heavy pan… or let's call it a ballroom… dust the floor with a spoonful of flour, add an egg, a splash of vanilla, a pinch of salt and some baking powder. Stir it up with delicious whips. Pour into a buttered baking dish. In a convection oven 200° for 20 minutes or so. The inside will be soft like a gently stream of goodness.
Happy Valentine's in Velvet Shorts.

  4. This recipie sounds like divinity! Pure love! I can’t wait to try it!
If ever I should marry again I am so going to wear my wedding band on my ring finger in the same place where you wear yours, because I have very large knuckles and small rings just look more dainty.

  5. Now that’s my kind of recipe. You just gave “Like Water for Chocolate” a run for its money!
Can’t wait to try this, and French Husband’s ‘tastes like baby jesus in velvet shorts” is going to live on over here in our house – that’s the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time.
    Happy Valentines, Corey!
    xo Isa

  6. Dark chocolate is my favorite thing – well that and coffee. This sounds incredible. Happy Valentine’s Day, Corey! Oh! I got an email from Shelley which really made my day! That was an amazing gift! She told me how you two met – I was a 4H-er myself – president of my club in fact, back when I couldn’t say no and everyone else could. :o) (Hi Shelley!!)

  7. Wishing you love on this Valentine’s Day (and chocolate…lots of chocolate).

  8. oh.my.goodness…this sounds sinfully good!

  9. Chocolate Love in Velvet Shorts (and other recipes of love)could be the name of your cookbook. For your bio I was thinking The (almost) Nun and the Nude (model), but I think The Taste of Not Enough would be perfect. Unless you include the bathing photos (and why shouldn’t you?) then it has to be “I tuke de Pubic Transportation” – sorry if I misquoted – I couldn’t find that post!

  10. Every time I see velvet shorts now, I am going to think of Yann and laugh…

  13. I remember you saying he says that LOL!
I heard on the Disney channel one day…a kid said “all that and a bag of chips”. I think it means the same thing!

  14. Such decadence at your house! First the claw tub and now the chocolat! MMMmmmmmmmmmmm!

  15. Remember… when I sat on pins and needles waiting to see what French Husband would say about the amuse busche????? And his face, with utter disappointment, confirmed my worst fears… “there is something wrong”… he said. Now I am dying… and then he said those now famous words… “what is wrong is the taste of not enough…” Not enough will never again have the same meaning for me…
I am going to sing and dance this chocolate love song… Thanks! Miss you bunches!!! Happy Valentines day a few days late… XO
