A taste of French Chocolate Cake:
Or as French Husband would proclaim "A taste of baby Jesus in velvet shorts."
His second line when asked what he thinks of the dessert,
"The taste of not enough."
Chocolate Love in Velvet Shorts
In a large, heavy pan melt smooth and gently 200g of sweet butter. When it has surrendered every ounce of thickness add 200g of fine sugar. Sing a love song while they become one, give them time, let them soak in each other's goodness. Introduce another partner to add a darker taste of color… 200 g of coarse, dark chocolate with a pinch of cinnamon (to shake things up a bit.) Again stir until silky smooth, let it cool. Some like it hot, but in this case let it cool: Waiting tests temptation.
In the same large heavy pan… or let's call it a ballroom… dust the floor with a spoonful of flour, add an egg, a splash of vanilla, a pinch of salt and some baking powder. Stir it up with delicious whips. Pour into a buttered baking dish. In a convection oven 200° for 20 minutes or so. The inside will be soft like a gently stream of goodness.
Happy Valentine's in Velvet Shorts.
