A Cat Named Lola

Photo 2

Chelsea came home for the weekend. Later in the evening she said, "Mr. Espresso has a cat name Lola. Though for him it is not just a cat. Anyway, for the longest time I thought Lola was a person. He talked about her constantly, I started to feel tints on green around me. I thought to myself, on more than one occasion, "I am going out with him and yet his heart is obviously divided between Lola and me!"
Thankfully, I never mentioned my feelings, and when I heard Lola was a cat, I was relieved. But then again… he does love Lola.

    Cats are wonderful, Chelsea!
    Just take it easy …

  2. I do love my cat (a male) and he loves me…
My son says I love my cat more than him. Not true,of course, but….

  3. Our kitty Starla definitely has a “thing” for my husband….and he for her!

  4. Ha! I have a cat named Lola too and she is who I talk about mostly…x

  5. Mr. Expresso probably talks about Chelsea when he is talking to Lola…..

  6. Audrey is the cat at our house. We love her. I talk about her all the time……I bet Lola hears some really good stuff.

  7. Cats are wonderful people (yep, you read that right) and so perceptive.I had a cat named Jake. He was my best pal. When I was dating if Jake didn’t take to a gentleman or the other way around, I didn’t date that person again. Then Joe came into my life and Jake liked him immediately, so did I.
That was 15 years ago. Joe and I are happily married and he is the love of my life.
So, Chelsea, be nice to Lola ;0)

  8. Yes, well, Mr. Espresso is obviously a man of great character.

  9. It is a nice sign that Mr E is kind to animals and has taken on the responsibility to care for one. He loves Lola, but his heart is big enough for her and his Chelsea.
P.S. Mom & Papa: do not read this!
Chelsea: you might want to create more dancing videos for Mr E’s eyes only. 😉

  10. My dog has a “human” name which confuses new friends who are unaware I’m talking about a dog,not a man. The cat is named Pesto and one year I made basil pesto sauce and the gift tag had a photo of the cat.

  11. you can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats the females in his life (human or animal).

  12. When I discovered Mr Bollo had a cat, Lillian, that pretty much sealed it. Told me all I needed to know about him as a human. From then on, until she died, it was two against one … when Mr. Bollo and I would fight she’d come over and bite me. Once it was on the ass. Needless to say, it cooled our anger.
Chelsea might enjoy Amanda Hesser’s account of her budding romance with her husband (whom she dubbed “Mr. Latte”) in her memoir, “Cooking for Mr. Latte”.

  13. Chelsea,
You have a wonderful young man there, reminds me of the kindness of your father that you mother talked about in prior posts. that is a good sign.
You are wise beyond your years, so perceptive of you to “listen” about his stories about Lola, — it is always best to listen and not make judgments — it is the path to establishing “trust” in a relationship between two people — any two people, friends, lovers, business associates — especially one of the “heart” for there is no relationship if is there is an absence of trust.

  14. How sweet he has a soft heart for animals. 🙂

I love it!!!! So, so cute. Ha!

  16. I have a theory about this.
I think, generally, men prefer dogs because they can control them.
So, if I’ve just met a man and find out he has a cat, that tells me a whole lot about him. Good things too.
Chelsea, like others have already said, you’ve got a good man there. I have a suggestion if you don’t mind. If you haven’t already gotten to know Lola I recommend that you do. I guarantee she will teach you many things.

  17. I’m gaining the understanding that Cats are pretty cool. One of my new fave sites is LOL Cats!!! Woot.
I miss my doggies though. 🙁

  18. Chelsea, my friend Ric has a dog named Lola. She’s a pushy little thing too. Do you think guys secretly like the name Lola???

My Scandinavian husband has a name which could resemble a name of an animal. Caution needed in certain multilingual contexts, especially for the kids!
