Where are we: Austria
Day Three: Admont, outside of Salzburg, at a fellow reader of Tongue in Cheek Liselotte's Home.
Distance: Trafoi Italy to Admont Austria, 350 miles
Riding time: Nine hours. Four pit stops to fill up with gas and use the WC.
Weather: Dollops of clouds on every mountain, (One thing is certain in Austria, "The Hills are alive," and well!) yet a blue sky was over our heads. We rode on the back roads and some freeway. Temperatures ranged between 55F and 90F.
Where we stayed: Liselotte's Home
Cost: Friendship!
A snapshot before we left Trafoi, Italy.
One of the many castles along the way.
First
Impressions: Castles on every hilltop…. Flower boxes on windowsills, Yellow, peach, sky blue and sea green colored houses, MOUNTAINS galore, lakes, Church steeple's that look like someone turned an ice cream cone with a scoop of ice cream, upside down. Green, green and more green. Dairy land, farms, corn, apricots, apples and the music seems to echo from such nature.
We arrived and I declare Willow (our motorcycle) to be the Queen of comfort! Or maybe years of sitting in the lotus position have paid off. Or maybe I am easily entertained by silence, or maybe because holding on to the one you love brings joy…whatever, it has been a grace filled ride.
Liselotte greeted us with an outdoor cocktail, welcoming us with champagne!
A video, I made going up Stelvio Pass from Tirano. I hand held French Husband's, small camera. (Not an easy task.) When we arrived at the top of the pass, in Bormio I made another video going down Stelvio Pass, the part that has ANOTHER 39 hairpin turns, and a spectacular view of the Alps. But unfortunately the video did not work! I was disappointed as I nearly DIED making it! At least I have this video of the first part of the pass. (Note: You might want to turn down the sound as it is loud.)
