I Could Walk around with my Hand on my Head

Stain glass prague

Or wear some flowers in my hair, with a touch of ivy here and there…

Stain glass prague hand on head

Or let nature be my ruling guide….

Stain glass prague church

Or pray for a miracle…

I could shave my head and wear a hat. But I have done that once before and it was not one of my greater ideas.

I know how she feels.

You see my skunk line is growing…

Throughout breakfast, lunch and dinner I have wondered out loud, "When am I going to find the time to manage my beauty treatment??? Should I color my white roots or go antiquing with my guests?"

It is not a question of, "Does she or doesn't she?" No it really is more of the question, "To be or not to be…."

  1. Or, wear a beautiful scarf! I let my hair go gray last year and I know how you feel! Its the pits. We try not to be vain, but oh, its hard! Enjoy the antiquing with friends and don’t worry about the skunk who is living on your head. The only thing anyone will notice is your beautiful smile and spirit!

  2. Go antiquing!
    Dark roots are in,
    I read it somewhere.
    Happy weekend,
    Merisi

  3. I love you โ™ฅ

  4. As long as you don’t smell skunky nobody will notice……well perhaps the tall people but who cares! Go antiquing…..and wear a pretty hat, it’s hot and sunny there isn’t it so you will look perfect Corey!
Love the pic of Yann – he’s such a comic!!
    When does Sacha get back?

A lovely large brimmed hat is just what you need today. If you don’t have one I bet that they have one at the market. Just back from our vacation and finishing it off with three days of “staycation”
I made a peach and plum creme brule this morning for our 12 person dinner /movie club tonight. welcome back. E

Pale roots are IN ..dark roots are a nono….

  7. Ed in Willows

I love the blond ……… keep it.

  8. Re letting one’s hair go grey, three thoughts:
    First of all, look at how marvelous Yann’s hair-color looks (especially with his skin-tones), and why it should be the same for a woman;
Calculate all the time you’ll save once you stop dyeing your hair; and,
Never underestimate the power of a word’s connotation — just call your haircolor “silver” instead, and you’ll feel so much better about it!!!
P.S. Just think of how chic and stunning Jamie Lee Curtis’ hair is nowadays.

  9. Go antiquing… we all worry too much about what other people think. It’s a problem I have.

  10. Corey,
I’ve been noticing more and more gray hairs popping up in my hair. I mean that literally, they are wiry, gray and seem to pop up from the rest of my hair!
A friend of mine refers to her grays as, glitter. That’s what I call mine, too. Who doesn’t need a little sparkle in their life??? ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. When I started getting grey hairs, I would pull them out. I thought I would use color, but realized the time and money commitment. I knew I wouldn’t be good at keeping it up for so many years; so I let it be. I have alot of “silver” hair” now and get many compliments on the color every from the hair dresser. I have learned to love my “silver hair”.

  12. Since I’m skunky at the moment too, waiting for my fix up on Tuesday, I extend my hand in sisterhood to you and say go forth Corey! Seize the day in graying stripe-i-tood and enjoy!
Seriously though, I really want to stop dying my hair, I’m so very sick of it. But I’m pretty sure I’ll look 100. What to do, what to do?!!
    WAH!

  13. Antiquing!!! You will find something fabulous and the skunk won’t even cross your mind!!! Enjoy your day Corey!!!

  14. wilsonian

lol… I decided about two months ago to let the gray grow in. So my skunk stripe is growing progressively wider and am getting to the stage where it’s really rather icky.
Good thing I rarely have to see it ๐Ÿ™‚
I do feel a bit bad for everyone else though… lol

  15. My vote is for antiquing too! By this time, hopefully you’ve already gone, getting your fill after 3 weeks abstinence! Going silver is great too – I stopped colouring a couple of years ago and get many plus comments – just keep a fun style. Remember, you’re fearless this summer!!

  16. Be healthy! Stay away from chemicals on the scalp that can creep into your skin. Natural is best. There is a reason your hair is the color it is. Enjoy it.

  17. Wear a hat or a beautiful scarf, go have fun. Be sure to share your finds with us!I’m going to Cabela’s for the first time ever-should be a shocker for this nonhunting woman. For payback will make the fella go antiquing with me another day.

  18. poppy fields

LOL! And I really needed to laugh!

  19. Maybe a good transition move, if the stripe is too conspicuous for your tastes, would be to get your hair streaked blonde, to make the switch to au naturel more gradual.

  20. I am having the same problem today….only got a shade in the cabinet a bit too dark and i really don’t want to go shopping!!….do i risk it?…

  21. Spend time with your friends..the roots can wait! enjoy the day…

  22. You are SO very dear!! I think we all (well, women with grey hair) ask this question. I think you should do whatever makes you feel the most beautiful. You LOVED the blonde. Will you LOVE the natural? I definitely believe in not being vain, we are meant to go grey, be true to the real you and all that. BUT, for me, I’m going to go get my hair done. For now, anyhow!!
You are beautiful no matter what you decide to do, except wearing the hand on your head!
Go antiquing! Then, make an appointment – if you want – for when there’s nothing happening!

    Ah, Hamlet. Kenneth Branagh!
I taach it for the second time this Sept.
Awesome trip that you took and I loved
    being along for the ride.

  24. I hope you went antiquing; the hair has waited this long–what’s one more day (or week? Personally, I like the sassy blonde ‘do you sported earlier.

For now, I’m letting my hair go gray, however I’m lucky that for my age (57), I still don’t have much.
I think that the deciding factor, for me, will be how it makes me look. If I look younger with it colored that’s what I will do.
Also, I don’t want to look older than my husband, which unfortunately for women, we usually do, unless we marry a much older man.
    ~elaine~

  26. Ha! I’m not having any of that coloring business. Although I know it would keep me looking younger, I know that I would dislike the upkeep and then the telltale signs would actually make me look older. So for now at least, I’m keeping what I like to call my “wild streak.”
    My vote: go antiquing!

  27. Live for the moment and go antiquing. You can color your hair later. Gray or white hair can be quite beautiful. It is all about attitude. Plus with the less money spent on hair color, the more you can spend at the brocante!
But if you adore your hair color sans gray, put on a lovely sweeping, straw sun hat. It can make an ordinary ensemble glamorous. I like this particular version: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/70/167846558_347a3dcd36.jpg

  28. I gotta say . . . and maybe this is my introvert side speaking . . .but you deserve some time for YOU, to take care of your roots!!! (maybe I’m more selfish than everyone else on here . . . )

  29. hey, I have just stood before the mirror pondering that very thought and then find lots of us are too!!!
Love the scarf and the colour of the first and last photos.
    Hope you went antiquing, corey

  30. Just pull all of your hair up into a nice, perky little ponytail on top of you head…and go antiquing!
    : )
    Julie M.

  31. Take some YOU time, relax and do your hair then when your guests come back from antiquing you will feel revitalised.

  32. Jeanette M.

Do whatever makes you feel great, sexy and happy.

  33. so what did you do?
I reckon I would have stayed home and had my hair done. after being on the bike for that long, as much as I enjoy it, it is always nice to just stay at home.
I colour my hair.. it is just about the only chemical I use ~ I do it because the colour that I choose makes me feel more alive.. my natural colour drains my face. I don’t think it is vanity at all..

  34. Rabenfrau

I don’t color my hair any longer, so I’m “new-blonde” as my hairdresser calls it (indeed, she likes it and had recently stopped coloring her hair, too!), and do you know what? Nobody cares!

I am 55 and started covering my grey in my 40’s. About a year ago, I decided to be natural. I love my silver hair! It is so much easier….
Antiquing with friends would definately be my choice.

  36. Hmmm…if it helps you decide, you’re very fun and lively just as you are.
( And I’ve never heard the phrase “skunk line” before! Isn’t that funny? Probably because my mother has always colored her hair…)
