The Southern Belle: Bluffton

Bluffton South Carolina

I arrived in South Carolina, Lynn, who reads my blog, came to France, bought antiques and met me for drinks at a sidewalk cafe in Aix… then when she returned to South Carolina she sent me an email inviting me to go brocanting Texas style… and Texas only does BIG.

Well here I be in Bluffton, a small charming town in the Low country of South Carolina located on the banks of the May River.

We mosied along under the giant oak trees, dripping with Spanish moss to the May River that runs a stone throw from Lynn's home and watched the sunset.

I am certain I have died and gone to heaven. Bluffton is a true Southern Belle.

May River Restaurant, Bluffton

Lynn took me to her favorite restaurant, May River Grill:

Fried green tomates, crab cakes, and chocolate bourbon pecan pie.

Delicious heaven in Bluffton.

The Side Door

Burlap and lace pillows

antique lace pillow cases

…. The sun has set, the Spanish Moss dances in the light breeze, swaying under the moonlight such a gentle welcoming, in the distance the jazz band simmers down…Lynn opens the gate to the pathway to her home.

A house full of antiques.

Burlap pillows and antique lace.

Slumber never felt so sweet.

I am a complete sucker for a wrought iron gate, but it is so much more than that. The pictures are stunning and the whole looks and sounds indeed like a little slice of heaven. Enjoy every single moment, Jx

  26. Welcome to the south! So stunningly beautiful in a sweetly tattered way … I wonder if you’ll get to Beaufort. Flying back to Vancouver on Tuesday … a sad trip, this time. If I could I’d hightail it down to Texas and give you a hug … would also snap up a roll or two of that chanvre! Happy travels, Corey … I’ll be checking in.

  27. You are in God’s country…gratefully, just 4 short hours from the NC mountains. My father was from SC and we spent our summers in Charleston. Haven’t been to Bluffton, but I’ve been to Green Pond and Possum Corner, also in the ACE Basin area.
