Loading up and Heading on Out to Antique Ville U.S.A.

The empty trailer and a dolly.

The stuff and some card board boxes.

A mirror stand for a gentleman's shaving

A man's shaving mirror and a copper milking can.

crystal chandelier

Partly packed crystal chandelier.

A woman and her measuring tape…

Hoping to God, crossing her fingers and toes that —

it will fit in the trailer with the million

of other things she has to take to Marburger..

Stacks of cardboard boxes waiting.

bungee cords

Bungee cords, an antique dealer's best friend when packing.

tarp

Tarp to cover the back of the truck in case it rains….

bedroom

Goodbye cozy bedroom.

French country doors

Large rubber band holding shut the French country door.

cooper pot and 18th century dresser

Cooper pot and French Dresser.

I think I would rather pack the cooper pot in the trailer, and keep the Dresser in my pocket…it needs to come back to France with me… But hence it was packed in the trailer too!

Do you think the hitch is too close to the ground?

How many pounds can a truck carry?

I think she has enough stuff to sell!

farm table and iron bed

Farm table and an iron bed wait their turn to be packed into the truck.

Truck and trailer

Packing, packing, packing….

loaded pick up truck

The loaded pickup truck… Beverly Hillbillies Style.

Going, going… holy cow this puppy is big! And let me tell you it is stuffed to the brim.

going, going, gone….

We are off…

Destination: Marburger, Texas.

Why: To attend, set up and sell at the thirteen mile long antique fair.

When: WERE OFF! We are headed towards the flood zone of Atlanta, (to pick up Lynn's Ex who will help drive the truck and trailer, help unload, set up and manage the electricity needed on the stand… yes I said EX… ) and if the truck doesn't become a boat we will spend the night. The next mornin' we will drive to New Orleans, listen to some jazz, have dinner on Magazine Street, then pick up and head out towards Texas to sell Lynn's wares.

… I guess you could say Thelma and Louise are picking up her the cowboy, and heading for the fair.

Holy Smoke! An adventure is full of surprises.

  19. Since you two are headed to the land of Willie Nelson:
    “On the road again –
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
    We’re the best of friends.
Insisting that the world keep turning our way-
    And our way
    is on the road again.”

  20. Wow.

  21. Hmm the song that popped into my head was “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”. Happy travels Corey and Lynn! Will you be meeting Constance while in Texas?

  22. be careful – atlanta has some bad damage.

  23. Hi CoCo Girlie, I WANT that iron bed, I HAVE to have it. Can you just drop it by my house? Have a fabulous day!!!

  24. Michelle in KY

    Um Corey…
I want that crystal chandelier. Anyway you can hold it for me? I love it! Unfortunately, I’m not gonna be able to make it to TX. The timing is just not right. Maybe next year. Hey, maybe you can make this an annual event. To come to the states and go to the TX. show with a differnt blogger/friend each year. what fun would that be. I hope that you all have a safe trip. Be careful!

  25. Serious biz going on here. You make it all look so beautiful, even the tarp, which I assume, in our colored world, is that ugly blue!

  26. I’m so happy that I get to “virtually” go to the fair with you!

  27. I’m so happy to have found your blog! Not only are your photos “phabulous” you are interesting and funny! Thanks for making me smile! :o)

  28. Elizabeth Ferguson

If you drive through Montgomery on the way to New Orleans wave to me. I hope I get to see that truck and trailer headed down Interstate-85. We are finally getting some sun today after weeks of rain every day.
    Have a wonderful time!

  29. Auntie! Have you noticed the “armoire”..in “the cozy bedroom”…it’s mine!!!
Well, exactly… exactly the same Tante Jeanne and Tonton René offered Maman for wedding present!
    The one in my bedroom…
…Yes, you’ve said EX…sometime we’ve loved someone so much, so much more than we’d ever thought, that even separated for real resons, we can not help keeping in tuch.
    Love can always be there.
    Have fun over there
    XoXo

  30. Corey
Wonderful! Sometimes the ex’s or former can be quite good and kind — just you can’t live with each other having said that while you are in New Orleans you have an amazing opportunity to connect and make cyber friendships with several other bloggers. two of them in New Orleans: Valorie Hart of Visual Vamp and Julie Neill of The Bayou Contessa. Valorie writes an great blog that keeps it all real. She has a great design sense and style. Her experience with design (and life) allows for her refreshing perspective! Visual Vamp is filled with interesting design ideas, as well as designer and artist profiles.
I know you will not be disappointed or antiqued out after the Marburger fair when you visit these two talented women and their beautiful shops—-
Valorie Hart –The Perch. – a fabulous must stop shop on Magazine Street.
Entering perch. you are immediately impressed by the unique and beautiful inventory. Everywhere you turn in perch. you find another treasure.
Some pieces they carried in the past was a zinc architectural piece – It would make such an interesting mirror. You will adore the antique door it was hanging on.
A Mora clock and so much more your kind of store- –
Julie Neill of The Bayou Contessa and her beautiful shop. It is housed a 120-year-old building with her showroom in the front and offices in the back. It is a wonderful old historic New Orleans building with 14-foot ceilings and separated into different rooms. EVERYTHING in the shop is so beautiful.
And did I mention that Valorie and her partner Alberto are Tango Teachers…. you may pick up a couple of pointers to surprise your FH
    Joanny

  31. Have a wonderful and safe trip. NOLA is certainly a lovely place to stop on the way. So much fabulous food and so little time. She certainly needs more love and attention. Enjoy Texas..I’m planning my next vacation around the fair next year!

  32. Lordy, Miss Sister Coco Girl! 🙂
Are you hiding a group of muscle bound moving men from view in those photos?
My bad back is saying nuh uh and aching just looking at those photos. OUCH!
Hoping you’re both none the worse for all that hard work. Enjoy the next leg of your adventure!

  33. I love that you’re having this adventure with a new, wonderful friend! I wish you beautiful weather, easy traveling, and a successful time at the fair. Keep us posted, be safe, and have FUN!
