What’s New With You?

clock face

In the last forty eight hours I have caught up with most of my friends in France:

1) Had an affair and is falling in love.

2) Sold her house for a song she has been wanting to sing, and received sadness in the beat.

3) Found his partner after three days of being missing.

4) Is making stuffed grape leaves at a rapid speed.

5) Taking clown classes, DIGS THE RED NOSE.

6) Turned one, smiles non stop.

7) Birthday girl's mom made a calamari dinner with Thai soup.

8) Learns new moves in Salsa dancing: Hot just got hotter.

9) Planning annual Mushroom picking adventure.

10) Looking for teacups at the Brocante.

11) Rode her motorcycle in 120 kph wind and nearly sailed away to La La Land.

I am becoming a geek ! I am taking classes to learn new ( to me , that is …)softwares , to make my job hunt more efficient . So I am everyday of the week in front of a screen and just go crazzzy and geeky ! These things are not my lovely-vintage-chined cup of tea at all so I often take the liberty to peek at your blog , read every post and felt better . I loved the photos of your family gathering , Joy is an incredibly beautiful woman and all the kids are so cute and your brothers have wonderful smiles ( Glad M is forgiven !!) . Bienvenue de retour en France !

  2. haha! I love that little list of very varied activities!
Sadly, I have been mourning my Grandma, who passed away in Oklahoma at the age of 89. We are blessed that her suffering is over, but I’m still gonna miss her.
And mourning in advance for the fight my aunt faces with Stage-Iv-diagnosed colon cancer. PLEASE GET YOUR COLON SCREENING ladies! (and gentlemen).
So I am trying to think how/when I can make a trip from Paris back to Oklahoma and up to Nebraska to see my aunt.

  3. I’ve been decorating for Halloween using odd objects from my collections and stuff around the house. I really don’t care for Halloween because I don’t like scary things…why do I do this to myself? Having an affair and falling in love or even making stuffed grape leaves seems much more appealing and a better use of time!

  4. I have been following a woman on her adventures across another continent! 😉

  5. Well, inspired by you Corey, I caught up with schoolfriends from 40 years ago, went to the opera for the first time in my life, went to the theatre and saw a musical with my husband( an unbelievable achievement), went out on the town on the spur of the moment, drove my daughter’s new car & went shopping with my 13 month old grand-daughter. All things i have never done before. thank you.

  6. Glad you made it back safe and sound!
We are in the “Fall” mode here. The trees are wearing thier beautiful colors. I have picked the last of our basil and tomatoes before the frost. I’m landscaping the little cottage we remodeled, made a big batch of Pappa Al Pomodoro soup, and shared it with the neighbor, giving Morganne driving lessons….(she is working on a 1959 MGA with her dad that she hopes will be her car!)
Your list sounds way more interesting!!
Love the photos you shared of your family.
    Welcome Home!

  7. sailing during a wonderful weekend!

  8. I have been painting non-stop. New inspirations are great.
Thinking a lot about going to the next Texas antique event…..working on a friend to go with me……..now, how to gently break the news to husband that I want a trip without him !!!!!! Any pointers?

  9. What a busy 48 hours.
I baked a pumpkin cake and cleaned up papers accumulated on my travels and in the mail. Papers just multiply. Also finished a book.

  11. My decor is changing from an oriental theme to that of France. Today I’m so happy. A stunningly beautiful crystal sconce and two vintage images of France were fitted in my bathroom … lavish yes, deservedly so. xo

  12. We’ve been renovating a tiny house that we bought with our daughter. It was built in 1949 and had a layer of linolieum for each decade covering the kitchen floor. Hard work but lots of laughs with the kids as we all work together.
I’ve loved reading about your travels and your family, such beautiful places and people.

  13. Ed in Willows

Saturday, we drove to San Francisco, toured 2 of the best museums in the city, ate at Fisherman’s Wharf, walked and shopped, and drove back home …… all in a 12 hour period.

  14. I drove my daughter to 2 sleepovers, did tons of math work with my son, hugged my other daughter and told her that it is not the end of the world to step in dogs poop, yelled at the dog(with love), told my other son to be careful driving a car and textmessaged to my husband who spend the weekend at antique guitar show in Texas to assure him that I still love him even he spent crazy amount of money and dont worry honey we can live with your dad after all, BUT under neath of this all I was dreaming that I am sitting at little caffe in Gordes ,sipping delicioues rose..

  15. Trying to figure out the new Canon camera (named it Manolo because it is good looking and I’d never be able to afford a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes). Made pumpkin black bean soup which got rave reviews from dinner guests. Bathed and groomed the dogs. Sat down and had hot chocolate with marshmallows while looking around house and thinking about moving furniture and accessories.
Glad you got home safe and sound.

  16. Went to a family party and forgot how in Peru a party is a PARTY, with a DJ and everything else. Learned about ‘crazy hour’, an hour of crazy music, dancing and dressing up in customs to make it even crazier. And today, meeting one of my best friends whom I haven’t seen in more than 25 years. And of course reading your blog… Life couldn’t be better!

  17. What a charming way to regroup. I luvd meeting your rose, Annie.

I spent 2 days with 15 students in a mountain cabin and didn´t get much sleep; set up 15 new laptops for the students; harvested my grapes on the terrace until I was crying with pain because my fingers were frozen from the snow; cut tons of bamboo, raspberry shrubs and
tomato plants in snowy weather; carried all my summer pot plants into the house ; envied Corey for having a good time in the States; took up my yoga class and tried to recover from all the pain the garden work had caused.

  19. I’ve lost five pounds!! Next goal – lose three more.

  20. I made cupcakes that look like they have peas and carrots on them, ones that look like mashed potatoes and gravey, then ones that look like a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. All from a really fun cookbook called “Hello Cupcake”. Brought in all of my urns and outdoor furniture before winter hits. Also cleaned up some of the plants from the garden. I still have tons to do. Glad you are home safely. You used to label all of your photos. I am missing the fact that you don’t anymore. You do caption most of them but not all. I love the last photo posted today with the statue and FANTABULOUS etchings in the background. Where was that taken from?
    Kisses

  21. that’s a lot to process! 🙂

Gathering walnuts at my nephews. His house was built in an old walnut orchard and their are several trees still generously producing walnuts. Guess what I’ll be doing in the evenings?
Hmmm, I thought you were staying away from wild mushrooms?

I have been baking and in the process found myself. I have been lost, walking around in a fog, going round in circles, but finally I have found my new path, where it will lead I do not know, I do know that when I am baking I am happy and I am lost in the joy of it, the smell, the feel and the taste. My greatest pleasure is when someone else tastes a piece and I can see the expression on their faces, bliss, pure bliss.

  24. Planning a January trip to Israel and Jordan!

  25. Wow! what a catchup list…I…hmmm, what have I done? We cleaned house a little, then put up electric fence in the large pasture Sat., had the best burgers in a while at Papa Doc’s in Meridian, played a big family round of dominoes. Started a new Sunday school class with a group of silly souls and enjoyed it. Made a big batch of weekend spaghetti chilled then let sweet hubby make us his famously delicious reubens for dinner.

  26. Spent a romantic 10 days away with my husband……..acted like new sweethearts again! Nothing better. We have always been able to keep the romance going every day, but this topped the cake!

  27. I just got back from Poland!!

  28. Julie Ann Evins

Well, we spent a wonderful relaxing week in Bonnieux, visited Cassis for the 1st time, had lunch with that gorgeous imp Yann, visited Lourmarin & caught up with Nathalie in her wonderful shop, popped into Cote Bastide flagship at the same time as recommended. Spent the morning at a vide Grenier, ate sublime food & enjoyed plenty of good wine.
Keith’s leg is much better and he has began physio. I have since hurt my wrist but that is now settling down ! Last Friday we had a very positive meeting with social services but I do not want to say too much too soon…
Saturday is the 4th anniversary of Mummy’s death & we will spend the day with my father – it doesn’t seem possible.
Glad you are home safe Corey, God Bless, Jxx

  29. Celebrated my birthday with my family and found out my daughter and her hubby are expecting their first child…our second grandchild.

  30. ooo, so glad you are home safe and sound! Lets see, what am I up to? well, saturday was kind of busy. Got up at 2am ’cause I couldn’t sleep, cleaned kitchen cupboards. Went to a church rummage sale at 9am where I finally found the french onion soup bowls and boston baked bean pot I have been wanting and a bunch of much needed baking tins( 6 bucks…not bad!) went to work, sang in the chorus of Aida (dressed as an Egyptian handmaiden, with all that dramatic eye makeup), went to visit a friend who recently had surgery, (she’s doing GREAT!), went back to work, sang in the chorus of Tosca (dressed as a nun, no makeup at all, thank goodness), came home at 10:30, glass of wine with the hubby, went to bed at midnight and slept blissfully until 10am! What a great day!
Glad you are home, and wondering if you sold that hemp linen you took with you, and if not, did you have to bring it all back? What all did you buy at the fair? Inquiring minds are dying to know.

  31. I reached my half century and…I like it!

  32. I have been following your travels. Wanted to ask, did you get “Blogging for Bliss: by Tara Frey?

  33. making chicken pot pie, chocolate chip cookies and fried green tomatoes…
don’t know what has grasped ahold of me, but i am taking advantage of this desire to cook while i can!

  34. I didnt have a fun day, I had to work. But I only work 3 days a week so that isnt so bad. Harvest party is in the works, halloween party coming soon and enjoying the fall weather!

  35. I have spent the last few days enjoying the end of my kids school holidays, picnicking with friends, watching kids splash in the pool, letting the house fall into a state of squalor!
Today the kids returned to school, I returned to work, I wish the house would return to cleanliness with as little effort!

  36. I’m speaking at a girls conference at our local university in November so I’ve been trying to let go of my own words and listen for the Divine.

  37. Have been busy finishing a paper on common pitfalls I’ve encountered in literary translating from Portuguese to English, to be included in a book coming out of a writers’ conference at the University of the Azores in which I’ve been invited to participate. Farmboy Husband will be accompanying me — his first time in the Azores! — so we’re taking a week’s vacation afterwards in order to visit a couple other islands while we’re there. That way he can get to see some of the breathtaking scenery in person and meet –or, more accurately, to get inspected by! — distant cousins and friends of mine.

Well, excitedly I have been packing for our trip back to our hometown & friends. We have only been gone 2 1/2 mos. but it seems like eternity. It will be fun to tell them about what we have seen (including Corey at Marburger) & what we have done to get settled in our new state of Texas. I have to say that we love being near family & am glad that we made the move except that Union Dairy is no longer 7 minutes away to share a cone with a friend or hope to run into someone we know.

  39. Marie-Noëlle

Not much … and so much … !!!

  40. Just got back from a lovely 3 cold days of rain at the beach!

  41. Oh, I want to hear more about #3!! LOL 🙂
