South stairs to the Eiffel Tower

You still gotta pay.

The last time I hiked up (The stairs go to the second landing. To go to the top you need to take the elevator.) I was with my brother Marty and his daughter, my oldest niece Patti. The first time my brothers Mathew and Zane came to France they hiked up without me since I was seven months pregnant. Instead I took a nap in the Champs de Mars, under a tree.

Yeah I remember trying to climb one of the legs of the tower instead of using the stairs. I have a picture of Zane climbing. The huge rivets made for easy climbing. At the time the, under the tower it was sand. Like a huge sand box. I remember that you took a nap which seems appropriate since you walked us all over the city. We walked everywhere and you never seemed to tire. I remember taking photos in the Champs de Mars soon after we came down from what was one of the many highlights of that most memorable adventure.

  12. What fabulous views of one of the world’s most beautiful cities! I posted a pic of the Champs de Mars and Tour Eiffel on my blog taken a few weeks ago after a snowfall 🙂 Pic was sent by a dear friend at the end of a long “shopping” trip. Too old to climb, so “merci” for the pics from the top!

  13. Thanks for sharing your wonderful view of Paris with us this morning–a wonderful way to begin the morning. I was surprised by the fact that you were not the photographer. Your daughter is very talented, and fortunate to have you to teach her a thing or two. I hope you are having a lovely time with family.

  14. Your daughter’s photographs are beautiful. They made me miss Paris! I never climbed the stairs because I’m afraid of heights. Looks like I missed out on spectacular views.
Hope you are enjoying your 12 days of Christmas. Joyeux Noel. –Delores

  21. Cory, these pictures are just wonderful. We over the pond usually don’t get to see real pictures of the fun stuff, only post cards and pictures in films, etc. Thanks

  22. Wow, fantastic photographs!
I very clearly remember an experience with a viewfinder on the Eiffel Tower when I lived in Germany and visited Paris with my host sister. I was just lazily scanning the buildings around, without meaning to be a voyeur, and lit upon a window of a nearby apartment.
I suppose the residents were completely aware that their windows would be so visible to tourists, because they had placed a full-size artificial skeleton to lounge on the window sill, with the drapes closed behind it.
    I mean, I assume it was artificial. I hope…

  23. wonderful bog, your family is just lovely. You tell your daughter she does a very good job on the photo taking…..Best wishes for the new year. xo Mary
