What light! If you haven't read the comment section yesterday and you need a reason to be encouraged, then please go read them. Inspiring! Each comment is a blog post in itself. Such wonderful, moving, encouraging comments about seeing the bright side of life…even in darkness.
Thank you for your comments, thank you for sharing about yourself on my blog. Thank you for being an active part of Tongue in Cheek. Your vital, thoughtful, in-depth, generous and encouraging comments yesterday (and every day for that matter) makes me feel that I am not writing this blog alone.
Many of you read the comments every day… which gives me a sense of community, and inspiration. Thank you!
Yesterday I went to see Aviator (Incredible visuals!), as I walked up to the door a young boy (15, 16ish) stepped back, holding the door open for me while his friends laughed and teased him. He said, "Hey, it is normal, why are you guys laughing, it is what you do man for one another."
When it was my turn to pay, I paid for my place and bought another ticket for the young man. When I gave it to him (he refused it at first, but I had already bought it so he had no choice to accept it) and told him that his gesture was appreciated, and thank you. I guess I am saying that when we see light we should add wood to that fire. We need to encourage and uplift one another. Help one another to shine.
Thank you for helping me shine, for encouraging me by following my blog and sharing your stories and heart with me.
I wish I could send candles to everyone who wrote a comment yesterday. It is tough to pick a winner.
Each comment shines. Comments that share heart and soul:
"Dancing on a plywood floor… Freshly baked bread… Playing the harp… Sitting by a roaring fire… Having sex in the morning… Being able to accept imperfections… The words "Full remission"… Creating… Juicy, vibrant, delicious colors… Helping someone I don't know… Riding one's bike… Staying in pajamas with a cup of coffee… Reading a good book while lying in the bath!… Smiling at strangers and getting a reply…The smell of the desert after it rains…Looking at the laugh lines on people's faces, they tell a story... Collecting sea glass washed up on the shore… Making cakes…they all have a story to tell. A life of noticing and absorbing beauty and inspiration… and the comments and light shine on and on!"
But since I must pick someone…
Winners:
Marlis was the first to show an image of a car lantern with a candle.
and
Carol Boartright:
I shine in my handling of my 9 year old twins with severe autism. My girls are non-verbal, not potty-trained and are unable to dress themselves. Each day is quite the struggle, as the physical and mental toll on our family is amazing. Now, I must say, most of the time. I don't feel like I shine at all. But friends have told me that they are amazed by my humor in all this, how I persist through all the challenges. I try to squeeze a little fun, beauty and laughter in each day, but really what I do, I do with the grace of God. 'Cause I sure couldn't do it by myself!"
Thank you!!
Shine on!
