A month or so ago I opened a Brocante Shop online. Never in my wildest dreams, and I do have wild dreams, did I think it would be as well received as it has been. I guess I am not the only one with a thing for French antiques… or small charming brocante things that talk cute. I am pleased that I am not alone with my thing for the brocante. But I am certainly glad you do not live here otherwise (as I have said a million times before) I would have to lock you in the trunk of my car…or at least call dibs… because you guys like the same things I like… which is fantastic for me in regards to my online brocante shop.

All this is to say that after four years of blogging, and creating an online brocante shop I am going to make myself an office space… a room without a view and certainly not my own… but it beats sitting on my bed. My bedroom, or I should say the room I share with a million boxes, papers, brocante bits and pieces, books, bed and my husband, is tad bit crowded. Last night I rolled over to find an escargot holder pinching my bottom!

My new space to do my thing is going to be in Chelsea's bedroom. Chelsea told me to go for it and so I am. Chelsea do you know what an escargot holder feels like?

I'll show you photos of my new space tomorrow… I am telling you this so that I will get my rear in gear and set it up. I work best under pressure.

  1. that cheeky escargot holder had me giggling ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank Corey. (me first?)

  2. Yay! I know its silly, but I was first today! I dont enter comps much (unless i know I have a really good chance that is) But I like to try to ‘tune in’ to when you’re posting Corey. Its so lovely to feel that you just pressed a button in ‘real time’ you see.
Like there really is a connection and maybe you might be reading this right now! ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m not competitive (not much) I just have five planets in Capricorn and I’m born in the year of the rat! The story goes there was a race between all the animals in the Chinese zodiac and the rat got there first cause he jumped on the dogs back (a bit like the gingerbread man) Thats me!

  3. This is good news! You should definitely have a space to organize all the treasure that you are shipping to me…er, us! It is very sweet of Chelsea to share her room with you…easier to share now that she is off to school. Looking forward to seeing your studio! ๐Ÿ™‚ Laura

  4. Nothing sexier than a woman in her own office. I’ve always been much less concerned with the room of my own than the desk of my own.
    Way to go, Corey!
I find it quite moving that your first office is going to be the bedroom that your all-grown-up-and-off-to-university baby girl has vacated. That seems to me to be a very powerful metaphor for personal and family transformation.
Best wishes in your new/old endeavor,

  5. Absolutely love that little jewelry box!!… and your site, it’s always a treat to come visit.

  6. Can we have an appointment in your new office ?? CAn we have coffee or tea , there ?
Can’t wait to see the pictures !!
    Girl , what about a shop ??

  7. Go for it…I feel your excitement too…to do the thing you love and to share it with all of us…..WOW….your own space..do you need a secretary or assistant??? I would work for free……….

  8. You do need your own space, how so sweet of Chelsea to offer her room. My studio is forever evolving, just last week I made room for a butcher block topped kitchen table for my work table. It’s huge but I love it. My space is overflowing and it makes me happy when others walk in and smile, they just know it’s where I create. I’m so excited to be able to see your space, you have excellent taste.

  9. Hello Corey, I cannot believe you haven’t had your own space..you certainly need it. I am sure FH will be delighted. Ah bless your daughter, sure you will have a bed for her when she comes home. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. You make me laugh. I claimed a bedroom for my studio and each time I walk in there, my heart sings. The walls are bright yellow.

  11. I am new to your site and so thrilled I found you. Love the posts and brocante. You are a breath of fresh air. I’m sure you will be inspired by your new space and we all can’t wait to reap the rewards. Go girl!

  12. Hmm… Going through your shop it seems I have missed out on some wonderful finds. I need to start viewing your items on a daily basis!

  13. you are so funny! great stuff!

  14. Congratulations, Corey!

  15. I already know I’m going to love your ‘office’.
    xx

  16. I am happy for you Corey, it couldn’t happen to a nicer person. After a day of packaging orders you can just collapse in Chelsea’s bed. You will love the new office!

GREAT!!!! I can’t wait to see your new “office”. Plus all of your “finds”….
I love seeing all of your “giveaways” too..
    GOOD LUCK !!!!

  18. You will so enjoy your own space to work. Have fun and don’t let too many of those escargot holders pinch you.

  19. Good for you! It will be wonderful for you (and your husband and your…cheeks…) to have your own space. After I moved out for college, my mom turned my old bedroom into a fairy-land guest room. It’s really charming.

As we all move forward together in this tapestry that is our lives…certainly your success is our success..as it gives us something to hope and dream about and realize through you that all things are possible…
You have created a sisterhood of sorts,we all share the same desires and want beauty and grace in our lives…
When I create my jewelry, a piece of me goes into it…
A room of our own helps

  21. Congratulations! I can’t wait to see how your new space turns out. I know it will be beautiful and serene โ€“ all your images seem that way. It’s important to honor your new endeavor. I’ve just started my own little business and blog at the same time (I’m crazy) and right now I’m working on the kitchen counter. I’m feeling a little inspired by you (as usual) to carve out my own space someone else in my home.

  22. Now that’s mature, well-reasoned, practical use of her room now that she’s branching off (see purse strewn on couch during weekend). Well done, Corey. I’m so delighted that your Brocante is already a smashing success!

  23. Excellent! Virginia Woolf said one must have A Room of One’s Own!

  24. Fabulous…and congrats! Can’t wait to see the space ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. I know how important it is to have a space to call your own for creative work. My sweet husband is putting the finishing touches this week on my new room that he had built for me.
Because I left my home behind in America, he felt I needed at least a room of my own here in England. I’ve been sharing the developing space with my readers ( It’s under the heading, A Room Of One’s Own ) and it’s almost ready for the big reveal. He also built an en-suite bathroom just for me too.
I can’t wait to see what you do with yours.

  26. Natalie Thiele

It sure was sweet of Chelsea to give up her room. Oh boy! Just think how much stuff you can cram into your new room!

  27. billie haffey

    Oh, congratulations Corey!
And from the looks of things at the”shop” you are doing quite well!!
Keep up the noble work and have fun!
    Billie

  28. oh Corey.. you are so funny! hehehe.. i want to look at your new home office and also that escargot holder! hehehe

  29. Can’t wait to see the new space! What exactly does an escargot holder look like anyhow? Hey, I made it up to Willows this past weekend and my mom and I managed to buy half the store! I did a little post on Gathering this evening. Your mom and Holly are doing such a terrific job. I think they surely are my soul mates or long lost sisters. Surely.

  30. BRAVO Corey! As a Business owner I have to agree having a space of your own is fabulous! You feel more inspired and creative in your own space. The one thing I find inspiring is having it very organized as well so I can put my hands on everything when I want it! It clears my mind to create more. Can’t wait to see your NEW OFFICE!!

  31. Corey,
Please explain in a post how we go about buying something. Do we email you or post a comment under the item?

  32. Awwwww……how I’d like a little space on my own….never mind, my house is far too small for that!

  33. Look what your mother started all those years ago taking you to junkyards…would she have dreamed this fairytale?

  34. I can’t wait to see pictures of your new space. Your Brocante shop is wonderful and I will be checking back often.
