Corey, That’s Me, at the Brocante

Corey-at-the-brocante

Some like Chanel,

Some like baseball,

Some like the Cha Cha Cha…

as for me I DIG the brocante.

What makes your heart pitter-patter and your tongue salivate?

I’m a nerdy bookworm. Stick me in a good bookshop, and I might never come back out.

  10. That would have to be my man! He is out of town and I am really missing him…..

  11. Oh, my, my . . . the heart races to any and all bookstores; new, used, antiquarian and then the tongue stops wagging and pauses for all that is chocolat! if I can find a silver spoon along the way, it is sweet and sterling Bliss!

  12. Pittter-patter: the new Irish-style jig and slip jig I just wrote to play on my harp with my band at my St. Patrick’s Day concert!
Salivate: Fire King Jadeite! (and Lindt chocolate truffles)

  13. Fresh spring growth on the roses in my garden- watching them day-by-day, this time of year.

  14. Flea markets, estate sales, my husband – I could go on forever. I love so many things. I am DYING to be walking in that door with you. You look fab by the way!

  15. Look how cute you are…getting ready to go shopping…it’s the best. I almost hyper ventilate going into a flea market with antiques…the Pasadena Rose Bowl has one every month and I’ve yet to go. That is what gets my heart beating quick.

I peered to see as much as I could behind you and bought the stove and the jug.

  17. I looked passed you and would have bought the stove and the jug.

  20. Bonjour, Corey,
I have been lurking on your blog sometime now, directed here by Rhonda. Just want to say “merci” for such lovely photos, words, inspiration and laughter. I’m a Francophile from way back. Things that make me salivate include: anything that’s old (a lesson in loving myself!) a passport and airline tickets, antique French postcards (my special niche) handmade book journals, my husband and his cooking:)

  21. Wait up Corey, you forgot me!!

  22. Love this photo…this would do it for me- my heart would be skipping beats with excitement

  23. Oh, Corey brocanting makes you look like a happy girl….never stop. Thank Ladelle for the lovely picture. Road trips with my family make me happy. date night with my hubby. game night with our family.

  24. great pic! you look so swingy young and happy happy happy~

  25. Corey, this is the BEST picture ever of you! Frame it and remember your feelings as you are about to enter brocante heaven!! My heart goes pitter patter at a good, old-fashioned estate sale with lots of junk to dig through. Finding a new blog that is my style makes my day too, although yours is still the best!

  26. Loving your shop Corey but everytime I see something I want it’s SOLD 🙁 Any old passementerie hanging around your cupboards???

  27. Susana Stevens

    Fabulous photo, Ladelle!

The list seems endless but here are a few things that make me salivate: watching a sky change colour, combing a beach for shells and sea glass, my friend Rick’s photo site:www.noofoto.com, poetry, book stores, reading a brilliant turn of phrase, good paper and a fountain pen, stores and markets containing items with a history,a road trip without a schedule, moving to music, swimming, tending my container garden, whale watching,”the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer” and dreams of going to France to dance sur le pont d’Avignon avec Corey.

  29. You look FAB! 🙂

HI, My heart loves Brocante….but now I love southwest and antique spanish brocante…since I am in Santa Fe. It looks different from your Brocante, but the heart goes pitter-patter in the same way! A whole new world to explore. Thank you for your daily gifts, Cory. Edelle

  31. Lots of things make my heart go pitter patter: the way a baby smells, the smell after a rain, puppies, cameras (!), and my husband, too.
By the way, you make 52 look fabulous! If there was a brocante that looked like your picture anywhere near me, I’d probably be bankrupt.

  32. I was reading an article the other day, the author said her life was someone eles’s vacation. I totally thought of you. I get so excited when I see beautiful things. That is a great picture! Wish I was their-my heart would definatly be leaping out of my chest!

I like any kind of shop where a little digging is almost sure to reveal a treasure. I have not done much antiquing but when in France last summer, I found it to be a most enjoyable passe-temps.

  34. Anchor hocking clear bubble dishes, and really old books. drool…. ebay is a really dangerous site when you don’t have those awesome brocantes in NY.. 🙂

  35. Same as you & Chanel & all things glam & certainly not baseball. You look fabulous Corey, outfit, hair, French je ne sais quoi, just happy “dans sa peau” – is that right ?? Just happy happy gorgeous, Jxx

  37. Corey, I so wish I could join you and Ladelle on your hunt for treasures! When I saw the picture in your post my eye immediately went to the black coal scuttle sitting next to the white cabinet. I have one like it!! I’m such a Francophile…lol!

This brocante photo makes me salivate… and my hands get sweaty… and I want to hop a plane to France!

  39. I would love to be standing there with you at the Brocante. It looks like one we stopped on when we were in France last fall. I will go to the Antique Mall on Wednesday for a quick peak and maybe I will find a treasure. I am so loving sleeping under the sheets I found in France. Each night is like dreaming that I am there.

  40. Corey, you are gorgeous! You chic Franco-American you! This picture is going in my style file.

  41. …A big steaming plate of homemade spaghetti and a cold glass of milk, shared with my best friend since grade 2, Lynn.
We used to skip school to go home and make some…

  42. Thoughts of Provence next August make my heart go pitter-pat!

Corey, I wanted to add, that picture of you is a keeper. Yann will be in love all over again with his brocante babe.
I am blessed also, two boys, 18 and 20, 25 year married today.

  45. the smell of a bookstore, COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE waking up to my mother cooking Sunday dinner at our old home….a good find like a garlic jar i found at TJ max the other day for $7.00. the wire egg basket i got for 1.99 at a salvation army store….and flowers…and getting my hands in the dirt…

  46. Corey you look fantastic!!!
My heart pitter patters at the thought of my upcoming trip to Jordan!
Also when my kids tell me they love me and wrap their arms around me.
And red wine, good movies & dinner out with friends is certainly nice.
Sleeping late, and dreaming much. xoox

  47. What makes my heart go pitter pat?
White ironstone, white damask linens, vintage silver, old cracked ornate frames, copper pans, but mostly my husband when he walks through the door every Friday after being away all week working hard to support us.
Oh, and the words, “I’m going to Paris”

  48. I am completely with you on this one… nothing like this in Australia and one of the reasons I want to travel to europe! Just makes me more excited to get there!!

  50. I’m that way at a bookstore. Nothing I love more than a new good book.

  51. jend’isère

Oversized doors sweeping you in to choose your own glamour goods, not those dictated from glossy fashion pages. I love seeing people passionate about what they are doing or who they are with.

  52. My heart is happiest when I’m out junking early on a Saturday morning with my mom. Driving over 100 miles to buy junk in another Texas town with my three daughters, all in their 20’s, who love junking just as much as I do. And Sunday mornings, tucked into bed with a cup of coffee and the morning newspaper with the love of my life, my husband of nearly 30 years.
    Smiles,
    Carol

  53. My greatest pleasure is when I am making someone’s “WYSHES” come true by Decorating their home. I love to give more than receive and this means a lot to me to make someone’s environment not only beautiful but comfortable! My heart almost always skips a beat with excitement!!!!

  54. Corey, you look fabulous in this picture!
Old things, white dishes, flowers, music that takes me back, handwritten letters

  55. Lace, crisp linen, and simple food made with fresh ingredients…nothing fancy! Love your brocante shopping. Do you have a list of these shops that you will share. I would love to try to hit come of the shops the next my husband gets a trip to Paris (Delta pilot)…although his layovers are usually short….24 hours…but that could be just enough if you have a plan!!!!

  56. Hello gorgeous gal! For me, it’s Chanel. Definitely.

  57. You look absolutely fabulous Corey!!!
The thought of France makes my heart go pitter-pat.

  58. Who COULDN’T love a french brocante? Seriously! I love a long hike in the mountains, a long beautiful bike ride, time to myself, time with my love and my puppies, a quiet cabin in the woods…
