The Brocante Bug

French-antique-shop

The entire morning long Ladelle helped me pack the purchases bought from my online Brocante. During lunch, I asked her what she would like to do this afternoon… I suggested: St Tropez, Hike St. Victorie, visit Les Arch where there is a wonderful mosaic of Chagall, drive along the Riviera, maybe visit a winery or two? With a coy look, she said," Let's go to the brocante!"

I wanted to wave my hands in the air and chant, "ALLELUIA!" Instead, I looked at her regretfully shook my head, and said, "I am so sorry I have given you the brocante bug… you poor, poor, girl!" Then I made a mad dash for my coat while hollering, "First dibs, let's go."

Can’t wait to see what you girls get today.

  10. How I would love to visit France. The St. Victorie hike sounds wonderful. Actually all Ladelle’s choices sound enjoyable. The brocante items that you find and post, wow. I probably would never see any of those sights.

  11. Happy Birthday Ladelle! Sorry it’s a day late!

  13. Sounds like you will have a wonderful day ahead of you. I agree with Karon though, I would also like to see the mosaic of Chagall.

  14. While living in Aix, I loved the Ste. Victoire hike, but I loved the brocantes even more! One of my favorite finds was a giant lock (and its key – the lock works!) which I’ve convinced myself came from a castle. The lock weighs about 40 lbs!

  15. Spread the disease…I mean, the LOVE!

  16. What fun!!

  17. And so another one falls…

  18. Oh, I wish I could join you! I was “dragged” from antique shop to antique shop by my mother when I was a little girl. No appreciation for antqiues {that old dustry stuff} at the time. When it was time to fill my own home with furniture and accessories, I was so fortunate that my mother gave me some of her treasures. I still have many of them ~ a favorite, the little French antique side table. Later, a fabulous French armoir!! Not sure why she loved French furniture and accessories {this was back in the late 50s when she started buying antiques for our home}, since we lived in the mid-West and she had never been to Europe. Perhaps in another life she lived in a French chateau 😉
    Enjoy the hunt!!

  19. Is that Brother Matthew I can hear groaning..”oh, no, not ANOTHER one”!..

  20. Its 9 PM here, 3 AM in France.
    Thinking of you guys.
Hope you had wonderful brocanting and maybe you are dreaming of it too?

  21. I would have preferred the ride along the French Riviera . . . on the back of FH’s bike!

  22. Corey….Going on a treasure hunt sounds wonderful. I would be on the lookout for lace, lace and more lace!!! It’s 27 degrees in Atlanta with a windchill of 18..brrrrr!! I wish you could link your brocante locations to Google Earth so we could locate them. Have fun!!!

  23. I want to ride shotgun! I hope you had a fun time together – well, of course you did. It’s great when you can jump into the car with a good girlfriend and just go! Freedom!
