No Trains, No Planes can only mean one thing when you are stuck in France

Mimi

My friend Mimi's overnight visit with us is going on a week and a half due to the train strike, a volcano erupting, which lead to the grounding of all planes. Poor Mimi is stuck in France!

This morning she asked me what we were going to do today?

H…E…L…L-OOOOOOOOOOOO?

I thought she knew me.

  5. South west France in the Landes region.Friends, weather, horses, rose, brocante. I could be trapped there forever and never want to escape.

  6. LOL! Looking up at this morning’s sky in Provence, it’s hard to believe that there is a volcanic ash cloud somewhere up there. It is a great day to go brocanting. If you are ever in my neighborhood, call me. I don’t brocante, but tea or rosรฉ in the sunshine would be nice ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. It would be a villa in Tuscany with my Italian Husband. We would shop at the markets then cook a feast. Oh and don’t forget the wine. xxx

  8. I am stuck in Lugano, Switzerland, which is a beautiful town on a hill next to a sparkly blue lake. All in all, it’s a nice place to be stranded but unfortunately, my children are back in the US and I’d like to get home to them!

  9. Julie Ann Evins

oh yeah – poor poor Mimi – my heart bleeds ! Stuck in Provence – that is a tragedy ! Jx

  12. Canada, Whistler, BC. My daughter is stuck there for another week after visiting her brother (my son), for 2 weeks. Lucky devil, wish I was there as well.

  13. My husband is working in China for the Formula 1, they have been warned to expect delays, up to two days extra, they are not due to fly home until Monday, but the travel company are doing updates .
I would imagine being stuck in London is a nightmare, but to be stuck in Paris, France or Italy would be lovely. Especially if there are friends like you Corey ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Your house!

  15. If I were stuck in France, I would be with you, Corey!

  16. Have fun you two!
I would not mind getting stuck brocanting with you girls…two fun loving blondes and a brunette on the loose in the south of France? Sign me up!
Mimi is beautiful and looks like she’s handling the situation well!

  17. Poor dear screaming Mimi…she must beside herself with frustration. What’s next, losing her luggage in Belize?

  18. Carol Ludwig

    ..in Mimi’s shoes.

  19. Why couldn’t that have happened to me when I was in Venice…
I am sure some are really upset with the Delays if they have to get to a job.. Nothing to do but go with the flow… enjoy it.. yvonne

  20. Oh, I can think of several places: Paraty in Brazil (as long as there were limitless funds); Seattle, near my folks; San Francisco (again with limitless funds); a little cabin on a lake in Northern Maine; Victoria, British Columbia; Skaebaek, Denmark; the list could go on and on….

  21. Ed in Willows

Anywhere with majestic scenery and my camera. Places like Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, etc.

  22. Your house! So we could go shopping!!!!
    Violet

  23. Seriously a tie, Seattle – visiting my daughter or there at the Brocante with you!

  24. jend’isรจre

Stranded husband update:as the Icelandic clouds float south, he is now on a train in provence. No brocantes but wave to him for me!

  25. I’d be stuck at your house…….but I’d give up on trying to get home and just rent a flat for a year and worry about getting back later.

  26. That’s an easy one- at my sister’s house in Florida! I’m not a beach gal, either. But, we have so much fun when we’re together, I could be stuck at her house and never worry one bit about getting home.
Have fun at the brocante. ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Since I’ve never been to France except for a few short hours aboard a ship in Cherbourg enroute from Southhampton, England to N.Y., I’d love to be stranded in France, where you live! ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. A good friend was suppose to fly to Toulouse this past Friday, via Frankfurt. Right now she’s stuck in Chicago. I would like to be anywhere in France and unable to fly back home to Minnesota ;] That is, until the money runs out.

  29. Corey, looks like you need a larger home since we’d all be with you !!!!!!!!!!!!
And what a fun time we’d have.

  30. Oh Pleeeeze….poor mimi???? If I were to be stuck anywhere ? Hows about in your pad for a week , with a pocket full of cash, brocantes up the wahzoo, laughter and gaiety and getting to know you better sounds like heaven…

  31. Susana Stevens

Aw gee, poor Mimi. For me, it’s a toss-up – get me stuck almost anywhere in England or almost anywhere in France, and I’d struggle through in fine form. Have fun today!

  32. Tina Schroer

I love Mimi! And I want her bag! Oh…and to be stranded in France, too. I can’t imagine how I would possibly pass the time…sigh.

  33. Wow!! I feel so sorry for her – lol I would love to be stuck in France.

  34. I have retired friends who left this week for a long vacation in the Azores Islands, and have been keeping me up-to-date on their activities via email. I’m so happy for them, but… I wish I were there, too!

  35. I would love to be stuck in France! I miss you!

  36. If I had to be stuck in Europe, I’d hope I had lots of $$$$ and a friend like you to put up with me ๐Ÿ™‚ Then off we would go….shopping, shopping and shopping, with some time for wine, bread and cheese!

  37. Kind of fun that a lot of people would want to be “stuck” in the town where I live. I’d want to be…why at your place of course! Or, somewhere in California near the Ocean.

  38. Leslie Metzger

Maine–on Lovejoy Pond. Pine trees, sparkling water–sitting on the white canvas covered dock with a drink and a good book.

  39. I would want to be stuck in the little cottage we rent in Newport Oregon, steps from the Ocean. Pure heaven……….

  40. Do you really need to ask? In France, with money, empty luggage and a friend who is crazy for the brocante and because she feels sorry for me, she’ll let me have all the best deals!

  41. Yesterday I ate my first macaroon (nutela and raspberry) OMG how delicious! I found your recipe and I hope to make it soon. As for the being stuck…I wouldn’t mind to be stuck in Paris.

  42. Talk about my bad timing. Why didn’t I fly over for a short visit about 10 days ago? Then I!! could be Mimi. Lucky girl.

  43. PARIS!!!

  44. Donna C.

Paris! Oh, to be stuck in the City of Light!

  45. What a lucky girl! Have lots of fun! I guess if I was stuck somewhere I would hope it was with my honey so it wouldn’t matter! To bad when I was in France the transportation strike wasn’t enough to keep us from getting back.

  46. Brenda L from TN

Poor MiMi…stuck in France in your house…poor baby…she gets a guided tour/buying trip to the brocantes with a good friend…AND gets to sit across the table from FH…WHAT ROTTEN LUCK !!! LOL…she’s where I’d want to be…in a heart beat…WAY TO GO MIMI…

  47. Ha, funny reading this because my family is currently stuck in Barcelona on our way home to Paris. We have had five days in this beautiful city and a few more wouldn’t kill me. As long as I am “stuck” with my family, I am fine.

  48. Anywhere with nice weather, as long as I am with family.

  49. Victoria

Here in the Sierras, with my sheep.

  50. Pooooooooorrr!!!!MiMi… :):)
Anywhere in Europe…with my family. Wow!!! had my countries volcano erupted two weeks earlier, I would have been stuck in Berlin, Germany with my family.
MiMi…it was nothing…glad to oblige. That is the least an Icelander can do for a French Brocante…dare I say it?…nut ๐Ÿ˜‰ Well, lucky, lucky you, you are in good company.
Listen to me, taking all the credit…just because the volcano is in the land of my birth ๐Ÿ™‚

  51. Anywhere that my family is!

  52. I could be happy almost anywhere, but right now I’d love to be stranded just a few dozen kilometers from you, in the South Luberon, visiting my grandkids, and close enough that I could meet you to go searching for treasures!

  53. Being stuck in France sounds pretty good to me. My husband and I were stuck in NYC a few years ago, for 3 extra days. More museums, restaurants, shopping and visits with friends…just because of a measly 4 inches of snow! Lucky us!

  54. Silly MIMI! She planned the entire volcano eruption, etc. JUSZT so she could tag along with you and belly flop into the sales!!!!!:) Hope you two had a wonderful time of it!!!!

  55. That was good, HELLO? You are so funny. I would love to be stuck in France…a girl can dream can’t she?

  56. joanne nixon
