Provence to Paris

French-countryside

The French countryside with the first kiss of spring.

French-car

I want this car! Will you please buy it for me?

Paris-map-book

… if you do I promise I will drive you from Provence to Paris, hitting every brocante in between (and bakery too.)

Later Note: The car is a "Deux Cheveaux" (Two Horses). Made during 1948 to 1990, the same shape and style.

They cost anywhere from 3000 (needs work) to 6000+ euro.

  3. What a fun trip that would be… 🙂

Would love to see the last segment, a commercial? But my computer will not allow. Fill us in?

  5. I loved the commercial, especially the knitting lady. I want a car like that, too! How nice it would be just sit and knit and let the car take care of the rest.

  6. Twinkleberry

I would love a car like that too …. my husband wont let me have one though!

That first photograph took my breath away. Reminds me only slightly of our second home on 5 acres in New York State. Rolling hills, beautiful colors, immaculately gridded farmland all bring a sense of peace and calm into our otherwise hectic lives.

  8. Have a wonderful time and good luck on your shopping. As for the car , it seems to be a big seller in Europe. cute video

I love Citroens! What spectacular design! I am surprised you don’t already own one. I guess they wouldn’t hold all your brocante loot.

  10. Christine Wittmann

I loved the commercial, especially the music, reminds me of the old vintage films we collect! Cute car, but I think I feel safer with a bit more metal around me. Those things are like roller skates, and having had a bad car accident in a small car like that I can tell you it’s frightening. We had an angel in that litte car with us that day! Yes, the car is cute as a button, I just wouldn’t want to do much highway driving with one.

  11. If I won the lottery, I would buy it for you!! What fun to drive! Will it hold enough “treasures”? Might want something a little larger or let’s dream big – How about one for you and one for me?

  12. Catalina

ohhhhhhhhhhh I should not tell you this…but my brother in law has a BEAUTIFUL one! and I know somebody who collects them! (like a brocante for you…he brocantes CV and repair them!)
ohhhhhhhh que le monde est petit! 🙂

Here is my deal. If you will you make me no longer allergic to wheat/gluten so I can eat things at said bakery, then I will buy you that adorable car. Well, if I had the money, I’d just buy it for you anyway.

Souvenir de jeunesse. A guy in this car drove me to my first home in France, Aix-en-Provence, when I was a student. I have been fond of it ever since. (I married the guy).

  15. What a brisk ride early in the morning. Thanks for taking us all along on it. Love the shot of the French countryside – its beauty and aged grace.

I am hiding this entire post from my husband!!!! He would buy it and take you from Provence to Paris and to own one of these he would even let ME visit every brocante on the way!!!!! Dangerous post, this one!!!

Corey . . .it’s always been my dream to own a Citroen, as well as, live in France, visit Paris, go to the markets, sail on the Mediterranean and the list goes on and on and on . . . .I wonder what it will feel like when I actually get there??????

drove in one in aix, with a most elegant lady. i was 17, she was the aunt of my then boyfriend and have loved them ever since…i will own one someday as well as the fiat 500, the older ones “the ladybug”. love cars with character— we drove a 67 mustang (my 2 brothers and sister) loved that car too…my younger brother still has it– gotta love old cars– they make me smile.

  19. Lorelei Lane

Oh Corey, you should buy this car….your visiting friends would love a ride to the brocante – think of the photo opportunities for your book!! Sweet talk French Husband…perhaps if you go flying he’ll have you driving….

  20. Alison Whittington

Forget it! I can’t buy that car for you. I’m buying it for myself.

May all of our wishes come true!

  22. AmyKortuem

What an adorable little car! I wonder if I could fit a harp in it?

  23. Paula S In New Mexico

Love the two tone paint job…….if I could buy it for you I sure would. We’ve have so much fun.

  24. Surely you need a larger car for brocanting? …or maybe just a red wagon to tow behind?

  25. Ooops, after watching the tv spot, I see there is PLENTY of storage room in the back of the car. IDEAL!

  26. cynthia Wolff @Beatenheart

What a cool modern looking commercial! Of course, we here in Coreyland all love retro cars, houses, clothes, shoes, jewelry…and modern up-to-date electronics and gadjets.. We are woman who rock and that’s no jive…

  27. I LOVED the Citroen wedding commercial! Corey, your offer is SO tempting. For a moment I forgot I had a kid and obligations here at home and in my mind I’d decided, Yes! I will buy that car and go brocanting from Provence to Paris with Corey. Sounds like a dream come true….. Maybe after my son goes off to college…..

  28. Brother Mathew

    How much they want?

  29. nan tofanelli

Do the doors really come off like that?

  30. Very cute! The commercial is so funny! I would like to have it too. Please!!!

  33. My husband used to have a 2cv and wants another one when we move to France. They are perfect picnic cars, which is one of our favorite pastimes.

The motoring memories you have stirred:
Adventures driving Mercedes to be exported back in strong dollar days through East Germany. Followed by a Canadian rescueing me from my shabby London hotel for fish & chips in his recently purchased Rolls before export. I drove a 2CV in UK giving up after a roundabout. Due for another road trip… and this time in style!

  35. How cute-even cuter with a matching trailer for all the brocante treasures. How fun would that be!

  36. That would be a fair trade. To bad I don’t have the money.

  37. Gucci Shoes

Thanks for adding the new information, as well as your analysis. This is why your blog is one of the few I read that I also ever bother to comment on. I don’t do it to hear myself talk – I do it because I know you actually listen.

  38. Wonderful and special memories on the road/train tracks to Paris from Provence with you! Missing the RB’s. xo

  39. Cheryl ~ Casual Cottage Chic

It is a darling little car..easy to park on those crowded Paris streets! I’d buy it in a New York minute if I lived in France 😉
The lavender fields are so lovely…the aroma but be so soothing to the senses. I recall the mustard fields on a train trip from Geneva to Paris long ago; missed the lavender fields…perhaps next time 😉

I had this car when I first lived in Switzerland – 40 years ago. I loved it then and I love it now. When we moved back to the states for a few years we brought it with us and then brought it back with us when we returned home to Zurich. I wish I had one now here in Napa Ca. How much do they want for it? Two horses bouncing through France. oh la la.

  41. We have a blue 2CV that we drive all around Atlanta. Lots of fun and we sure get lots of looks! My husband loves to take it to car shows and even built a mechanical “dummy” to put under the car, with legs sticking out, like it’s a mechanic working on the car. A friend recorded French swearing and such for sound effects. People love it. (The seats are removeable and we do picnic like the video)

  42. Rhonda P.

You have to be my twin sister! I love that first picture, that car, all your things basically. I sighed at this one….a big longing sigh to be where you are one day.

  43. Oh my goodness! That first picture is absolutely stunning. So beautiful. So very beautiful I could taste it. And then you follow up with the world’s snappiest little car – the Citroen…Help me, Rhonda!!!
