Sipping Pink Happiness

chandelier There was a chandelier above our dining room table that never worked. As Sacha has said a million times, 'Yeah yeah our house: Mirrors you cannot see yourself in, chairs you cannot sit on, lights that aren't electrified…"

My cousin Gene fixed that. Electrified happiness. My cousin said, "No problem." I sighed, raised my hands towards heaven exclaiming, "Miracle! Let there be light."

Birthday-dinner-Kathy

Though we had Kathy's (my cousin) birthday dinner by candle light.

Coconut Shrimp with basmati rice.

Pink-champagne

Pink champagne, (or Rose Champagne in French).

Raspberry-cake

Raspberry cake and also, chocolate caramel cake came to visit.

One can never have enough cake.

Rose-champagne

Guess where I was sitting?

I have a thing for taking photos of alcohol in a glass. Crazy thing. Years from know Great-great-great-great grandchildren will say, "Why weren't there any photos of people back then?"

This crazy thing has got to stop…

  6. Ah, children, they just put it all in perspective for us, don’t they…;)…as i’m fond of saying: Yes, you’re right…and , you have to dust it, too!

  7. It’s all lovely 🙂

  8. What a lovely life you’ve made…it’s like a story book…I think you should also do a picture book!

  9. Chris Wittmann

Family, good friends, good food, a pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy them…that is the true essence of fulfillment and what happy memories are made of. Even if it was only bread and wine. Having loved ones near and enjoying life, that is more precious than gold. Savor every moment with them!

  10. Happy birthday Kathy! What a fabulous gift to travel to France and visit your cousin! Your table is lovely….all the pink is so pretty! It looks like it was a fun evening with your family! …and how wonderful to finally have your chandelier electrified!
    🙂

  11. What a lovely looking family meal. I love the pink champagne. Never stop taking the photos…!

  12. So did your cousin fix more things?

  13. linda marcov

That pink tulle runner down the middle of the table has my name on it! Glad you allowed Gene to gift you with the gift of light… everyone looks like they are so relaxed and enjoying their time with one another.. it doesn’t get much better than that! Love Linda

  14. Beautiful shots and I love it when you take pictures of wine in elegant receptacles. I especially like the image you capture of the birthday girl in candle light. What a wonderful way for Kathy to remember her and Gene’s time in France as she celebrated another year.
Excellent! I learn something new from you each and every day. Much thanks.

  15. Cheryl ~ Casual Cottage Chic

Love your candlesticks!! Everything looks so soft with candle light. Kuddos to your cousin however..a very HANDY man indeed!

  16. Your table setting is exquisite (as always) and I would kill for that chandelier! But best of all the family scene in the black & white photo, which is beyond price. Thanks for this wonderful post.

  17. Shelley

How beautiful and symbolic that your cousin repaired your dining light…you’ll think of him at every dinner get together!

  18. shelley@decoragain.blogspot.com

  20. Debra P.

what a lovely birthday celebration . . .my birthday is Friday . . .I can only dream about having such an elegant celebration.

  21. Julie Ann Evins

Coffee yesterday, pink champagne today, both wonderful things that I love and both so French, how you spoil us. That pink champagne looks a real rose pink, unusual, like a kir royale. Happy Birthday Kathy, sante, Jx

  22. Marilyn

Love the pink and chandeliers that are now electrified. Yeah! But the candle like is best of all.

  23. AmyKortuem

It’s all about CHOICES! Now you can use your chandelier or not…but it’s good to know that you CAN use it when you want.
    Beautiful celebration!

  25. I love your photos of this party…I especially like the one of your Rose Champagne…there is something magic about photos of glasses, especially when there is something in them. I adore beautiful glasses and buy them like some women buy shoes 🙂
I am laughing about what Sacha said about your house.
My son asked me once, why we could not have a table where everyone can cut their food at the same time without shaking the table.

  26. P.S. Could you please send Gene over, I will feed him and Kathy well…we will have a good time talking about you and he can offer to do small repairs around the house…I have a husband like you…adorable and cute but not handy.

  27. Happy Birthday Kathy..I could not think of a better place to celebrate a birthday. I think Corey could create this elegance even if she lived in a tent in the middle of the desert. It’s comes from her very sole. I am listening to my French music from the soundtrack, somethings got to give, having my French Press Coffee in the crisp morning sunshine. For now, it doesn’t get any better than that.

  28. Brother Mathew

    Diesel or wine?

  29. Check one off the honey-do list! It looks to have been a beautiful celebration–wishing her many more.

  30. ThroughtheMilkhouseDoor

Looks pretty wonderful to me. We celebrated the beginning of patio season in Central California tonight – barbecued pork chops and jazz – any excuse for a celebration! You’re always a delight, Corey!

    May I be (become ?) a member of your family ?? :o)

  42. I’m the same-I can never pass up taking a photo of liquid in a glass, especially if the sun or a candle is shining though it.
