Paris, Je t’aime

Dollhead3

Dear Friends of Tongue in Cheek,

Bright and early this morning Corey
took the that super-duper fast train to Paris. I
thought since she left, I'd fill in for her….

By the way….Don't you think I have
the prettiest eyes and the cutest lips (?!) and to think she has me
living in a cupboard!

Dollhead1coreyamaro

She told me as she was rushing out
the door, "I'm going to do the cafe thing with cousins, take a peek into
some pretty
pastry shops
, lick windows, say oh la la
alot, maybe take 500 photos."

Sure sure sure…If I know her she
will spend her time hanging out with old things at the antique market. Poor cousins thinking they are going to see the Eiffel Tower and visit the Louvre!

Dollhead2coreyamaro

"Say say oh playmate, come out
and play with me, and bring your dolly sweet, climb up the Eiffel
tower…" Some girls have all the luck. At least I got the cute little
nose and the perfect eyebrows!

Stay tune…five days of posting
from Paris
it is going to be an eye full!

Oh
I almost forgot…Corey asked me to ask you:

"If
there is something you would like to see of Paris, tell me and she will
try her darn-est to take a photo of it, and post it here. (Orama, better
known as my brother, keep it clean!)

Je t'aime,

Coco

  1. When I visited the Palais Royal…there was a man feeding little birds right out of his hand. They were fluttering around him as if he were Cinderella. That is one of my happiest memories of Paris. Can you do that?

  11. I’d like to see a photo of a really big dog in Paris! Or are they all purse-sized dogs?

  12. Yes, pictures of Paris street fashion but the quirky, casual, shot through with fun and style looks. For women “of a certain age”.
And maybe some shots of creative, original street vendors.

  13. The Champs Elysees!! I have a wonderful old Buster Keaton film with that name in the title, and the film is in French! Would love to see anything in Paris, but especially the market vendors and casual scenes of folks sitting in the outdoor cafes. How I wish I could be there!

Corey, I would love to see pictures of the outdoor markets. My husband and I were in Paris for one day (via the chunnel while we were vacationing in London) and we just loved them. They were so beautiful. Everyones food stands were works of art. Also would love to see pics of the bakeries, cheese shops, etc… Have a wonderful time!!

  15. You would brighten up my day if you posted photographs of French Bulldogs walking the streets of Paris. Once you start looking for them, you will see many.

  16. ahah… what would i love to see.. all of it.. the windows at Printemps, Les Galleries Lafayette, Chanel’s door.. St. Laurent’s door…

  17. Absolutely loved this!!! I look forward to walking through Paris with you ~ Violet

  18. The window displays at Fauchon! How I miss that place! Or really, any window displays will do. Have a wonderful day!

    Dear Coco,
Sorry to hear you were left behind in the cupboard, but, take heart, for knowing Corey’s penchant for beauty, she may return with a friend to keep you company.
I would love to see market pictures; food, vegetables, and flowers. Yes, flowers to brighten my day. What is in bloom with perhaps an antique vase to rest in.

  20. definately the fashion on the streets!! and maybe a picture of someone we would have been lucky to meet in Paris………….
    missy from the bayou

  21. We were in Paris in September. Would love some photos of the city with spring trees and flowers in bloom. Your videos reminded me of what a wonderful time we had. The last video was tres romantique.

  22. Merry B.

‘Allo, Coco … Please cover the Porte de Vanves market stem to stern … I know you will anyway, n’est-ce pas? Do they still have the fabulous portable toilettes there that completely shower themselves between visitors and play classical music? Funny little things you remember! And the big things, too – will never forget some real treasures I didn’t buy there and still regret … non-buyers remorse after all these years! Have the most wonderful time …

  23. Just have fun.

  24. Oh Coco, how clever you are. I would have to ask to see Versaille or anything Marie Antoinette – I’m obsessed with her.
Thank you Coco – you enjoy yourself being in charge and all.

  25. One of my children’s favorite books (20+ years ago) was The Mystery at Number Seven Rue Petite. It is a story about a dishonest antique dealer who made fakes to sell in his shop.
It would be fun to see a photo of this address.

  26. true love…armfuls of flowers…laduree…a beautiful wrought iron fence…you (self-portrait please)
basically anything your heart desires. just have fun and enjoy your time with family!

  27. I would love to see the inside of a fabulous Parisian cheese or flower shop!

  28. Nancy from Mass

I want to see a normal Rue, not filled with tourists, just a normal Rue with real Parisians going about their normal day.
Oh, and my absolute favorite movie in the world is Amelie!!!!!!!!

  29. The Chagall’s ceiling at the Paris Opera House 🙂
    if you go there…
    or anything else! and enjoy!!!!!

  30. Two of my favorite sights in Paris are he book stalls along the Seine and the view from the roof of Samartaine – to say nothing of the shopping at Samartaine particularly in the kitchen department which used to be in the basement

  31. Corey, could you take a picture of pastries in a bake shop. I would love to see all the delicacies.
    Have fun in Paris!

  32. Oh, take pics of those yummy and colorful Parisian macaroons!!! Heck, grab some and take a batch home to the family, too 🙂 Have a glorious time in Paris!

The (Borghese?) fountain in the Luxembourg Gardens.

  34. Loved this idea … perhaps more of your brocante treasures can talk … makes me think of the children’s books by Johnny Gruelle, about Raggedy Ann and Andy. The dolls and toys come alive when their little owner leaves the room. They love reading stories from her books, but tend to fall into them and right into the stories. They have all kinds of adventures with the characters of every fairy tale you can think of … wonderful books.

  35. Patricia

I would love to see the Hermes store window. It is always so amazing!!!!

  36. Oh, Paris! I’d love to see the incense billowing out of that huge pan on the altar in Notre Dame during vespers. I went to vespers almost every night I was in Paris and knelt on that 800-year-old floor just to experience and feel the holiness. Then light a candle for me, ok? Have fun!

  37. Victoria Ramos

    window displays…..
    and dog poop ;-0

  38. How about a few pictures of the lovely loot you’ll collect from the Port de Vanves flea market? It’s been 6 years next Saturday since I was there last (on my honeymoon) and if I can’t have the real thing, I at least need a picture fix!! Have an amazingly wonderful time in Paris!

    Bonjour Corey ~
Merci beacoup for taking us along on your parisien adventure! What a treat!!
I would love to see a picture of my favorite bridge in Paris, the Pont des Arts or perhaps a picture of the lovely River Seine.

Can’t wait to see your Paris pics. Hope you all have a dreamy visit.
It would be wonderful to see BEAUTIFUL BOTTLES OF FRENCH PERFUME.
    Happy Mother’s Day!
    Julie W.

  41. Hmmm, some night shots would be great, to see The City of Light all lit up 🙂 also, boat houses one the Seine… spring… a picture of most unusual vehicle seen in Paris…something grand… fashion… or just anything that catches your eye 😉

  42. Joan Thodas

Can a camera do justice to St. Chapel?

  43. metro musician shots…..brocante finds….rue royale…Paul Smith windows s’il vous plait!

  44. I remember thinking the first time I was in Paris, “Bleh, this is the City of Light?” The sky was flat gray. It wasn’t until a few years later I learned that the phrase referred to intellectual enlightenment, not physical light.
I would like you to pop into Inge Lex’s store on Rue du Pas de la Mule, just off the Place des Vosges and send a photo update of what beaded delicacies Inge is creating these days. A friend was just there and purchased a tiny skull pin with blue eyes and little white teeth. Je la veux!

  45. on second thought, my inner voyeur wants to see a young couple in love…in paris….in the springtime!

  46. If you happen to be near St. Madeleine’s church I would love to see a picture. That is where we got our daughter’s name!

  47. A cake, a doll or pram in the park, and the mannequin in a window display.

  48. Could you please visit a synagogue while you’re in Paris, and post some photos of it?

  49. Elaine L.

I would love to see some photos of the mimes around Montmartre.
    ~elaine~

  50. Please photograph the carousel across from the Eiffel tower. Then enjoy a crepe (sugar and gran marnier) please at the vendor there. Tell them Jody misses paris and regrets that time she said she was tired of Paris and just wanted to stay home. Shocking and unbelievable now that we live so far away.

  51. Jane Ann

Ditto the request for Paris in bloom. We were there in March. It was beautiful, but nothing was flowering. Love to see fashion on us Madame M types. Eat a macaroon and report on your favorite flavor and your favorite chocolate. Have a wonderful time! I live vicariously through you!

  52. joanne nixon

    Dear Dolly-Cherie,
I hope Corey & cuz slow down and take you to a toy store. If they do not buy you toys at least the charming display windows at Au Nain Bleu, rue de Rivoli, could add to Paris postcards.
Pasteries everywhere, perhaps a bonbon shop as well?
    Bisous

  55. Marie Amaro

Wow! The time lapse video is so beautiful! Paris looks so alive with people everywhere.

  56. Hi there! I am a fellow American living abroad, and would love to take advantage of the sightly surroundings that Europe has to offer. What kind of camera do you use to take your beautiful photographs? Thanks!
