A Paris Postcard memory: When I first met French Husband he lived in a studio nearby the Eiffel Tower. Often when he went to work I would go to the Champs de Mars, the park in front of Eiffel Tower, to read. What I remember most about the Champs de Mars was the nannies dressed in dark blue with white aprons pushing enormous, dark blue, baby carriages. White lace coverlets would peek over the top, and often little arms and legs too.
God how I wish I took photos back then, how I had hoped to see a nanny pushing a carriage in the park…. but is seems those days are gone.
Victoria, thank you for asking to see a Pram or doll in the park, it brought back such good memories.
Eileen asked to see a bulldog too, Does this count for a Paris Postcard of a Bulldog too?
The French poster for a magazine says,
"Paris like you have never seen."
I found that fitting, if not bold, for today's Paris Postcards…
Why didn't anyone mention that they wanted to see a broken chair on the streets of Paris?
A Paris Postcard for Sue in Seattle.
A grey "deux chevaux" citroen parked on the cobblestone street.
Waverly wrote in the comment section about how the Lapin Agile was a must see. She is right! It is one of the few houses in Paris located in the Montmarte. Across the street is the only vineyard in Paris as well.
I tried in vain to take a photo of the rabbit in the frying pan… the light casted too many shadow reflections making it impossible for me to do a justified photo.
Lapin Agile is a cabaret open every night except Monday.
This is a wonderful corner in Paris. Thank you Waverly for leading me.
By the way you mentioned you painted this corner for a client, do you have a link to the painting?

The man on the pink scooter really got me.

Instead of tossing rice the wedding party tosses pastel tissue paper hearts on the newly married couple.

P.S. There are many stairs to the Montmarte Sacre Coeur, these are the hidden ones, the older ones, the steep ones… as my cousin Kathy said, "Corey we don't have to do "cute" do we?" She is a great tease.
G. wanted to see an older couple holding hands…. and Jeanette Mc. from Everton Terrace, "I like
seeing the older couples out together – for a walk …"
When my cousins and I saw this we knew it spoke companionship in a deeper way.
Cindy I know you asked to see the delicacies inside a French pastry shop, but this exterior is sweet enough to eat isn't it? Unfortunately many of these beauties have been gutted and turned into chic boutique shops….
That is why I always go into these old places and buy something. At least that is what I tell myself… I am helping business at the expensive on my waistline.
Viva la France!
