It started out as an innocent suggestion to a friend.
You see our friend Philippe spent over ten years creating, and then developed a new product, a fantastic product… Varionet, eyeglasses that go beyond "Readers" or as some call them "Cheaters".
Varionet eyeglasses are for people who are forty or older, when most people's eyes start weaken. Varionet's eyeglasses allow everything to be in focus within a two yard range. Unlike "Readers" where only a few feet in front of you is in focus, Philippe created Varionet a progressive lens at a fraction of the normal cost. Making them the new "readers" for the computer generation.
The innocent suggestion?
A year or so ago when Philippe was planning his website he asked about photos… I jumped in with a teasing idea, "Philippe you could have a photo of someone dangling eyeglasses from their mouth, you know how when someone takes off their eyeglasses and puts the temple part in their mouth when thinking?"
Philippe's eyes sparkled, "Yes, but no, not that kind of photo…. Hey! Can you take some photos for me… and use Yann for the model."
My innocent idea turned into French Husband's first modeling job.
Job Description: Different scenes/angles showing the action of reading things from a two yard range.
Props: I grabbed the Varionet eyeglasses, a few shirts from French Husband's closet, a tie, my camera, bought a newspaper and told that French Husband of mine to get into the car- we had a job to do.
Cost: Philippe doesn't know this yet, but he is going to make me diamond studded eyeglasses, and offer the model an all expense paid, around the world cruise for two.
So far the cost was a newspaper, a coffee and a five minute walk to a cafe.
The red eyeglasses made me think of wine….. so I took the model to the wine section of the grocery store for our first session.
Philippe liked the photo, but later told me that the red eyeglasses were for women.
Darn-it! I should have included French Husband's ponytail.
The model check,
The eyeglasses check,
The angle…so-so,
The photographer wishes she had his nose, and could pluck his eyebrows.
The model said, "No."
If you are in need of eyeglasses you might want to check these out, or tell a friend about them.
French Husband and I are off to pretend that he is a model and I am a photographer and that we know what we are doing… don't you think a pair of Varionet hanging from someone's mouth would be the perfect photo?
Let's have fun with this… where should I, or how should I take photos of these Varionet for Philippe?
(Philippe will pick one comment and send a pair of eyeglasses to you. Yet another thing he doesn't know about… do you want red ones or diamond ones like mine?)
