When You Need Advice Ask Your Friends Through the Blog

Romance

The catch is romance. The take is sexy. The feel is good. The look is "I want it". The object of desire….the glasses. Varionet to be exact.

Again your responses, ideas, thoughts, suggestions have my head spinning. Each comment I read I imagined where I would have to stand to take the photo, where the point of focus would have to be to capture to glasses and the mood. Then I called my daughter and asked if she was busy this morning…. "I wanna do some example shots… no, come as you are, you do not need to wash your hair… it is just for fun." She agreed.

Thank you for helping me figure this out. For your helpful advice, detailed directions and much much more. You are the best! I felt like we were at a cafe shooting ideas back and forth, and keeping the facts in mind: Marketing/Photographing the eyeglasses.

I have my work cut out for me, and will show you the results when I have a pair of red leather gloves.

The ad shots will focus around the list below.

Philippe thanks all of you, and would like to give the winners of a pair of Varionet eyeglasses:

Mmd.Tortoise

Jend'isère

Brother Mathew

Carol

Note: Winners please send me your address, the eyeglasses you would like, and dioptric power. Check out Philppe's site here for examples and information regarding the eyeglasses: http://www.varionet-store.com/

Later Note.……………….

Regarding the photos of my husband and daughter (above). It wasn't my attention to use a younger woman in the ad, nor to think of these photos as "Father / Daughter".
– I took them as "examples" my blog only. My daughter was coming home so I asked her to be my "example fill in".
Regarding why I am not in the photos… I cannot be in two places at once, but if I manage to figure that out (without a tripod…. which was too much work angling and focusing being the "model" and the "photographer" at the same time is too much work for practice shots.) I'll let you know. In the professional shots that Danna suggested an older woman will be the model, she wasn't available today.

Lovely shots, Corey! You’ve got the photography knack!

  2. shelley@thiswhiteshed.blogspot.com

Even without winning the glasses, that was SO MUCH FUN!!! And to see you put your suggestions on film (disc, digitalis, pixies whatever the term)is nothing short of awe-inspiring. You may be on to something here, talented Corey!

  3. Jeanette Mc. from Everton Terrace

Yes indeed, very fun! Congratulations to all the winners. Love that last one.

  4. not to be prudish, but to express my concerns……..i know your photos are all in fun and to sell, but personally
i am sad our society is enticed by the older man younger girl/ woman idea. i am especially bothered by your father wooing the daughter look, even though most will not know who is featured.
can’t your husband do the same with you and give us joy in seeing true love at its best, lasting and aging. like your hide and seek game?
sorry if it does not sell, it sure is what we all want in our hearts and lives anyway, why pretend youth has all the glamour and fun and enticement?

  5. Theresa

Well, this has been so much fun to follow the journey!!!!!!! GREAT shots….makes those glasses look HOT!

  6. Ida from South Africa

Nice shots. I like the look of a caring father. Bet you are great parents with a wonderful relationship with your children!
Look like she is wispering: “Someday I’ll find my Prince, but you’ll always be my king!”

  7. Wow! I never dreamed I’d win. These photos of FH and your daughter are gorgeous. I love Ida’s caption….he will always be her king and hero.

  8. Very endearing father daughter shots Corey. It looks as if he is sending his beloved daughter off to her Prom or a special recital. You know Fathers Day is just around the corner. Do they celebrate FD on the same day in France? Good choices for your winners.
So perhaps our clue is red gloves……Thanks for the ride these past two days!

  9. Cheryl ~ Casual Cottage Chic

Lovely keepsake photos of FH with daughter but they don’t really convey the marketing message. They are just pictures of a man who wears glasses. Remember these are glasses used for reading and not to wear all day, as I understand. Good luck with the ads 🙂

jody makes a valid point, one I’m not exactly sure how to solve.
IMO, it’s a matter of how to pose the photos to convey unambiguously that it’s a wholesome father-daughter relationship being portrayed — perhaps this is a daughter en route to whatever the French equivalent of her senior prom is? — rather than an older, possibly married, man with a woman who’s, ahem, “too young” for him.
But hey Corey, that’s why YOU’RE the artist. Best of luck resolving this conundrum :-)))

  11. Marilyn

    Beautiful~

  12. Thanks for the good laugh. I’ve been working hard lately and really appreciate the break. Thanks to the whole family, in fact. I really love the “plucking the eyebrows” bit. I think the photos where FH is looking at YOU are sexiest. Looking forward to using my own pair of Varionet for a similar effect with my AH (American Husband.)

  13. Ed in Willows

It seems some people are bothered by the Father/Daughter relationship in the photos. For me, I looked at the pictures before I read the story and didn’t know it was Chelsea. What I saw was a very handsome man ( who looks a lot younger than he really is) with a beautiful woman. I thought they were great pictures and if you use a woman in your final product without showing her face, I think you have both the models you’ll need. Great work Corey.

  14. Nancy ~ Fete et Fleur

The first photo is my favorite. You captured a 1000 words in it.
    Nancy

  15. I love watching this work in progress. Forget the critics, keep going you’re doing fantastic!

  16. The sexist thing that a man or in this case FH can do is be himself. Sorry but too “posed” for me. Confidence is VERY sexy and sellable. Who is your targeted market? If it is a woman of a certain age..well you are selling enhanced glasses right? Let FH get his 501 jeans on,pull his hair back, his leather bomber jacket, his RED leather gloves that match his new RED Varionet glasses and hop on that motorcycle that he loves and then I think you will capture what you and the rest of the world will find very appealing. You are telling the story that even if you are over 50…(and need enhancement glasses) DANG you make getting older desireable!! I want a pair..where are the rinestone RED ones????

  17. These are beautiful shots and I anxiously look forward to the finished product. The colors work beautifully together. Yann and Chelsea were good sports to pose for you and I imagine it took some time to find the right light, angle, etc. While I know it takes a great deal of work to come up with THE photo, your photos and words here bring it all home and give me yet an even greater appreciation of professional photography.

  18. Dear Coco,
When you said brother Mathew, did you mean my daddy?
    _______________
    Hello Ree ree,
    Yes it is your daddy!
    xx Aunt Coco

  19. Lia deKoster

Well I disagree with one of the top comments,
I love the crisp white reflected from shirt
    to
    pearl
them leading the eye to black
    and
    back….
I also like your wee conversation on daughter….as model, she is beautiful and at hand. perfect.
    I’m 45
    and
age appropriate, sexy, cute women who spend money like to be seen
    and
    not replaced.
    So go girl…
    you know your stuff
    ohhh la, la.

  20. Juliette

I do love the pictures! The first and the last are my favourite ones.
I am very proud of you!
Unfortunately, I do not have any ideas to share. Go on! it is a real plesure to follow your “such a good job”!
    xoxo

  21. Yes, I was captivated by the first shot. A hint of the glasses with a whisper to the pearl earring. Love it….

  22. Very nice

  23. Joy Jones

….sighhhhh….I will buy anything you are selling……..xoxo mon amie ~ Joy

  24. Elaine L.

Not crazy about the pics because they look like a guy who wears glasses, doesn’t convey the message that they are reading glasses.
    Nice photos, tho.
    ~elaine~

  25. Donna C.

For marketing these glasses, my favorite shot and the one I personally think sells the glasses for what they are, is the shot of Jann in his blue suit reading the newspaper.
Corey, you are one talented lady!!!!

  26. Sandy fisher

Love photo#1 but he’s not looking at her. In photo#2 he’s got the look. But no glasses on.
Do #1 again but have him looking at her neck? He’s got to look as though he’s into her like he does in #2.
if you use your daughter you won’t get jealous 😉

  27. Sandy fisher

Love 1 and2 you are an artist. Great pictures, all of them and FH is so sweet to do this

  28. I adore Chelsea’s earrings. These are beautiful photos. And sorry, Jody, but you are a bit of a chump, as the English say. What Corey explains in her later note was already evident from the first post, if only you’d actually read it.

  29. I love the pictures of FF and Daughter. So enduring and lovely and something she’ll treasure in the years to come. (as will her papa)
Corey, you are a magician with your camera, our photos throughout your website are so exquisite and evocative.
I will definitely buy several pairs of Varionet, they have the cool factor but are also great looking.

  30. jend’isère

These photos are so lovely. Surely your family photo albums are free from those group sofa shots which create big hair shadows.

  31. cynthia Wolff @Beatenheart

I love the honesty of the commentators. Everyone is not full of praise for every little thing and are giving honest opinions rather than saying that everything is perfect. I value an honest opinion done tactfully and not hurtfully. Isn’t it wonderful that you are able to reach out and get all these helpful opinions? That is what I am taking away from this.

  32. Hey Corey whats up with your email I keep getting my email to you returned. Email me something so I can try to reply

  33. pauline

The first and last shots are spectacular! You have so many talents (and a gorgeous family)!

  34. Victoria Ramos

I like photo 2 — but agree that maybe a more casual dress could work better — but love the earring and the white shirt — what to do? fun stuff!

Commenters on the net are one of the best advises. First, they wont mind sharing stuffs, because you didn’t know each other. And most of the unrevealed secrets are shared online, And nobody will know that it was them. That what I love about blogs, and blogging, sharing your own opinion and making things work for other people.
