Marburger Antique Fair part 1

Mix media art

Photography and text by: Corey Amaro

As much as I love antiques, the truth be known I love the people I meet at the brocante more. So today I would like to introduce you to some of the people I have met at Marburger, and the sort of antiques they have. Mind you many of the people I met I forgot to take their photo as my tendency to talk to much made me forget to stay focus and take their photo!!

Alice and jay

I met Alice and Jay last year, they came by because they read my blog. They are from Georgia. They love to remix their antique finds into Mix Media art. Also they have products made from tortoise shell, Jay's father raises them for export to Japan. (I know I am a vegetarian who went crabbing, has friends who raise turtles, and an entire family of farmers…)

I invited them to come see us in France, without their turtles.

Willow nest

Willow Nest Linda and Ludmil, a wonderful couple with amazing taste and style. Linda loves pink, frill, sweet, tender antique things… Ludmil takes zinc, tin, rusty iron and turns them into romantic things… Their booth is like being in OZ. Check their website to see Ludmil's bird houses!!!

I met Linda and Ludmil last year (through blogging) they are coming to see us in France, with zinc and pink tucked under their arms.

Gilded crown

If you like antique French textiles, gilded crowns, pom poms, and curtain panels in printed linen then you must head to Palm Springs to see the French Guys: Elyan and Jean Yves, or come to Marburger. They do not have a blog, but they should!!

We hope to see them in Uzes next year. Or maybe I'll go have lunch later this month at their restaurant in Palm Springs.

At there stand French Husband bought me a textile fragment from an altar cloth that has a crown on it, it is lovely. Do you think he has the bug?

Park house antiques

Parkhouse antiques

Park House Antiques, they do not blog either, but MAN THEY SHOULD, they have such lovely taste. Liudra and Alan I think would be wonderful interior designers as well. I enjoy how they set up their stand. Many of their antiques were stripped down to a bleached wood look, I like to call it driftwood effect, it is fantastic.

Their shop is in Dallas Texas, and they set up at Marburger twice a year.

I meet PATINA GREEN at Willow Nest's birthday party. They are blog readers too. They just returned from visiting France… But I begged them to come back to France and stay with us as soon as they can.

Their shop is in Texas…. is everything in Texas?

Daryl

And Daryl I met him last year, when I saw him this year I declared him the most well dress man I know. French Husband has a pink shirt… he wants to dress like… Daryl might have to come to France and give him lessons.

Nance

Nance, is my blogging friend who lent me her computer to write my blog while in Marburger (Look at yesterday's post for more information regarding that act of kindness!).

Big Kisses, as they say in France.

Melinda

Melinda and her husband came last year to meet me, they came to Marburger to buy for their shop in Fort Worth, Texas… House of Tuscany

Melinda's specializes in chandeliers, sconces… lighting for the home.

Her husband flies… Happy conversation all around (or as my brother Mathew would say, "Thank God something other than brocante!" As French Husband would say back to my Brother Mathew, "Duh, wine, cheese, things that go fast and sex.")

Maybe that was too much information.

Anyway Melinda is coming over to France, and we will go brocanting… duh.

Time worn interiors

Time Worn Interiors, Theresa and Craig Smith

Theresa and her husband Craig have a wonderful booth, they deal with industrial furnishings for the home. Their stand sold out in five minutes! They set up across many fairs acorss the country, for more information check out their blog.

Of course Theresa and her husband are coming over to France… they know my match made blogging friend Mimi! (Blogging makes the world smaller.)

….more friends and their stands later, but right now I need to go work……

Lucky bloggers and sellers of fine antiques. To be in your presence and meet you and FH, would be a dream. You, Corey, are royalty in my world.

I live fairly close by and went to Warrenton last weekend, but really wanted to go to Marberger instead, so I could meet you. My husband flies and has an old WWII trainer (a Navion) and I even fantasized about the possibility of his taking FH flying over the fields of rural Texas. But, alas, I had to work all week and am attending the wedding of a close friend on Sat., so I couldn’t go. But, I did tell my friend, Debe, who also reads your blog and has ordered from your website, and went to Marberger today, to find you, say hi for me and buy something for me! I hope she was able to. Anyway, welcome to Texas and I hope your visit is magical! Oh, and another thing, I don’t know Nance, but think that’s a beautiful photo of her!
