Kissing Frogs

Kissing frogs

Photography and text by Corey Amaro.

They told me they had been kissing frogs. Strangely I did not catch what they meant by that. I made a face, responded how gross, moaned loudly, then added, "Have you grown a wart on your lips?"

Prince charming

They looked at me as if I were a grown-up far far removed from their magical world. They appeared disappointed in me. Though asked me to take a photo while they kissed the frog… again I moaned but obeyed their command… the moment their lips touched the frog I knew.

"Prince Charming," I said to myself.

How silly of me not to remember. I glanced over at my own frog and smiled.

  1. You have renewed my faith in Fairy Tales! Your frog clearly became your prince charming!

  2. What a sweet story! It amazing how many frogs you have to kiss before you find the right one.

  3. Gorgeous photos. Those red, red lips. Those long dark eyelashes. They are living in a fairytale.

  4. You have so stunningly captured a moment of innocence for these two young girls. Wouldn’t it be grand to save them, especially the first one, for a wedding shower invitation for the first one to get their prince charming?

  5. Capturing innocence, true beauty.

  6. I love that first image. Perfection Corey.

  7. oh…how sweet!

  8. My niece did that this summer while with her gramma…..she caught about 40 frogs and had them in a metal wash tub…while she thought no one was looking she would pick one up – smooch it and then look at it in disgust while she said ‘you’re not a prince’ and toss it away. Apparently she did that to every single frog. It would have been priceless to see!

  9. Oh! As I read that last line, I thought…tongue in cheek!
Your frog is a prince indeed!

  12. I grew up in Nor Cal, Red Bluff, and as a kid I endlessly played with those tiny frogs! I miss them, and haven’t seen them since my childhood. thanks for sharing those darling little pictures.

  13. When I was a kid in Oregon, we used to catch little frogs like that and hypnotize them! We would lay them on their backs and rub their tummies and they would just lay there, “hynotized.” Great fun. Your post brought back old memories of my childhood. Cute photos, lovingly captured with your camera. Hope you are having a great time visiting…..~Delores
